We loved celebrating our anniversary at Pacific del Mar! Food, service and even though it wasn't the clearest day in paradise, the view, were all 5 star! We live in the OC but well worth the drive down to Del Mar to enjoy dining at Pacifica.
Beautiful restaurant, great service and food.
I will not return due to the noise level in the restaurant.
You cannot hear others at the table, and we are sitting outside
The noise level ruined the experience.
This would be an almost totally positive review, but for one issue.
First of all, location and setting were exceptional. We were at an "outside patio" which was mostly enclosed, with a great view of the ocean and sunset. The fish dishes were excellent, and wine list very reasonable.
The only sour note on this evening (I don't know how often it might happen) was that part way through our visit a celebrity basketball player came into the restaurant, ALONG WITH his camera and sound crew. These people had large, television type cameras and stationed themselves around the patio, including one time a cameraman stood directly over our table for 10-15 minutes. On the one hand seeing a celebrity dining at the same restaurant you are at is briefly kind of exciting, but the very obtrusive camera crew was very distracting for a large part of the evening. I know of one couple who did leave their table. This was all without any explanation, or apology from the restaurant. An otherwise great experience was , if not ruined, at least very diminished by the celebrity and his camera crew.
This was a wonderful restaurant to spend an anniversary dinner. The sun was low in the sky, so we sat in the interior of the restaurant, which was much more comfortable. They have an early bird dinner (by 6:00 PM), which was wonderful. We had 5:30 reservations and were the first ones in the restaurant. The bar was already over half filled, so it looks like people like to come here. We had a great dinner and a good waiter. My wife had the salmon and I had the mahi-mahi. Both dishes were great. I drink scotch old fashioned. They make a great one at a great price. We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointing. We also visit the Pacifica Breeze downstairs for breakfast 3-4 time a month. They have the best Asai bowl around.
Our "go to" place where the total package never disappoints - excellent food, service and ambiance. Special recognition for the anniversary (creme brulee done perfectly) was an added treat.
Always dependable and really good food. Consistently, one of our favorites.
Good food and service! We enjoyed ourselves there. Nice view from the terrace!
Found this amazing restaurant as I was driving through Del Mar. Watched the sunset over the ocean while having a delicious dinner of Mahi Mahi & an excellent glass of Chardonnay. Highly recommend for delicious food, views & superb service.
Service is always fantastic. Menu special (fresh Alaska halibut) this time was terrific. You can't go wrong here.
Had a great time and our server Jacqueline and Jesse were definitely entertaining.
a great evening meal with a friendly ambiance.
View was great. Fish fresh and cooked perfectly.
We met our dear friends from Seattle at Pacifica Del Mar for lunch, and truly enjoyed all aspects. For openers, the Manager provided us with complimentary Crispy Calamari, as some construction work was being completed on the glass patio enclosure, and thus it was initially a bit noisy. As for our entrees we selected the Italian Chopped Salad, Blackened Fish Tacos, and two of the Barbecued Sugar-Spiced Salmon. They all exceeded our expectations for taste, lunch entree size, and presentation. We enjoyed a tasty bottle of Chardonnay with our meal. Our server was outstanding, and really added a great vibe to our lunch. We highly recommend Pacifica Del Mar, and look forward to our next opportunity to enjoy the wonderful offerings.
I did eat at Pacifica Del Mar in the past but this time didn't meet my expectation - The service impectable, but the food, not impressive - we had the thai red curry mussels as appetizer and they were really delicious - for entrees we got the grilled branzino and the black cod. How can you go wrong with a branzino, right? Well it was just ok - it was served on a bed of butternut squash puree very plain and I didn't enjoy it at all - The black cod dishes also was so-so the bunch of udon noodles a bit too much and the overal dish presentation not very appealing -tastewise, not impressive either - to conclude the dinner we had a semifreddo as dessert, beautyfull to see it and perfectly balanced in swetness and creaminess -delicious! Overal a bit disappointing, we chose Pacifica del Mar to be safe for some nice ambiance and good food - The ambiance was there, but the food ...meh
We've been many times, but particularly enjoyed this night with a beautiful sunset, great service and great food. We didn't know about the early menu option with lower prices and the same excellent food, so that was a pleasant surprise. We will continue to come back.
We have been to this restaurant a few times and considered it one of our favorites. the salmon was especially good until this last visit. The green beans were overcooked and the salmon was undercooked. My boyfriend's Udon soup was so-so, and didn't have much flavor. We were disappointed.
It was our 46th wedding anniversary and they couldn’t have been more thoughtful. Dinner was excellent and the complimentary crepe brûlée was delicious. The food was superb, salmon and mahi mahi were both delicious. Highly recommend it.
Wonderful dining venue and will return many times. Great Service. enjoyed our sever from Nebraska
Never disappoints, we are regulars! Great service and menu:)
Tried for first time though have lived in area for years. The food, the service and wine all were outstanding. Highly recommend.
This is our go-to five star restaurant in San Diego. The food is consistently good, the staff are warm, helpful and friendly, and the view overlooking the ocean is lovely. I always leave looking forward to my next meal at Pacifica.
Pacifica remains our number one favorite eating spot in all of San Diego! Our meal was out of this world as was the service from everyone on the floor. AMAZING is a good description!
Excellent Shrimp and Grits
Always great service! I never get disappointed every time I visit Pacifica Del Mar . I have brought friends and they are always impressed w the food and service :)
We frequent this restaurant. It’s service is the best in SD and food always top quality and great taste
Incredible food and view! We found Pacifica Del Mar using a Google search for a lunch spot while on vacation in the area. We choose the location based on its proximity to the ocean, but were really wowed by the view when we walked in. What's more, the service - from reception to servers - was outstanding. It was quiet when we went so had a lot of time to visit with staff - we felt like they were new friends by the time we left. Food choices were plenty - salads, sandwiches, entrees, etc. Try the Mocha Semifreddo for dessert (we shared it, and it was plenty). Validated parking made it free to garage park and not worry about finding a spot in what can be a busy area. We will definitely come back when we're in the Del Mar/Torrey Pines area next time!
The views at sunset are very spectacular; if you get seated on the roof area at sunset, you will enjoy a west coast sunset that is second to none, give the elevated height. Highly recommend.
Great food and a great view!
Took college kids out for a nice meal. Got the early bird special so not only was it easy on our wallets, it was a good learning opportunity for them that there are ways not to pay full price. Food and view well worth the price even when it isn’t early bird.
Good food, nice view
Pacifica Del Mar is great and has been very reliable for 20 years or more. The food and service continues to excel and the value per dollar is very good.
Really great menu and wine list. Excellent service
Great find while visiting Del Mar. Look forward to returning for a sunset.
We had a lovely birthday dinner ...Food was great...service awesome
Pacifica Del Mar is a regular stop on our date night tour. And its because the food and service are outstanding AND the view is an added bonus.
The view of the sunset over the Pacific is gorgeous. The bread is steaming and delicious. The signature Sugar-Spiced Salmon was perfectly prepared. My husband and I both ordered the salmon. There was a dramatic difference between our pieces of salmon in portion (both were small.) Sitting inside was warmer and less noisy but getting water or utensils that were not provided was tough. Whatever you do share the Mocha Semifredo dessert. You won't regret it.
Visiting San DiegI, we always try to include a meal at Pacifica and we did this on Saturday for brunch with three other people. Fish tacos and calamari are two standbys that once again proved the drive to Del Mar was well worth the effort!
I had several friends in from out of town and I couldn't wait to meet them at Pacifica, it's one of my favorites. The service is impeccable, a wonderful mix of attentive but not stuffy. Our glasses were always full, the recommendations were excellent and everything was served in just the right amount of time! I love everything about Pacifica except for the fact that it gets so loud. Maybe it's because the tables are so close together but I just wanted to turn to the lady at the table next to ours and her to please use her "inside voice".
My friends were impressed and there wasn't anything about our food that we didn't love.
Made our reservation and asked for a window table. We got there on time and were seated immediately at one of the 4 tops closest to the windows. We had a great view of the sunset.
All four of us had the Sunet menu. Three had the salmon, which was excellent and the fourth had the Mahi mahi. She thought it the best she had ever had.
The service was timely and attentive, without being intrusive.
The Sunset 2 course meal for $25.75 is a good bargain. The wine list is good and reasonably priced.
We had a great meal as usual and will be back soon.
This was a birthday lunch celebration. Our waiter, Kyle, made this dining event such a pleasure with his friendly demeanor. Food was delicious, and the ambience made for easy conversation.
Food and service very good. Noise level was extreme. Could not hear my wife across the table. Guys talking and laughing level very loud. At least 20 feet from us. No one from restaurant asked them to quiet down.
