Pacifica Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
We go every year for our wedding anniversary.
This time? It was our 19th.
The food was terrible. We ordered hamachi ( unbeatable) old fish.
Then the cod and the shrimp & greets. Don’t even get me started.
We never complain but because we couldn’t eat our meal they took it of of the bill.
We will keep going every year, but just because it’s our “thing”, but will go just for drinks.
This use to be one of my favorite places. Now the atmosphere is sad. Nobody around. Food was nothing special, did not need a reservation. Service not very good. We asked for cookies and the waiter told us they did not have any. We had to point them out on the menu. Sad to see one of your old favorites not be a favorite any longer. I will probably never go back.
This was my first visit to Pacifica. While I enjoyed the meal, I can't think of anything particularly memorable or excellent to mention about our dining experience. Our waiter was friendly, the wine was fine, the mahi mahi was fine. Nothing to complain about...just nothing to rave about either.
Joined three other family members for our annual dinner out. Cocktails were good, soup was nice, bread was nice. The street corn was really delicious and memorable! Raw seafood dishes (salmon, tuna) were unappealingly presented an almost inedible. Prices were too high although the location and ambiance were gorgeous.
The quality of the food was very disappointing. The best part was the bread. We were there for New Years Eve and they had a fixed menu. The lobster bisque had the consistency of water and was average at best. The Chilean sea bass was just not good. I could barely eat it. Same for the mash potatoes. Everything else was fine. Good service. Good ambiance. With so many restaurants in the area there is no reason to ever go back here. Would only recommend to someone I really don't like.
My husband and I wanted to have a NYE dinner at the Pacifica and we ordered the lobster risotto and the lobster literally tasted like chewing gum and it was very hard to digest. The sea bass was better than the lobster but didn't taste very fresh. When it comes to seafood, its either fresh or the other way...
Chocolate pudding dessert was the most outstanding out of all the dishes..
We are quite disappointed with the food because we were staying at the Grand Del Mar and felt like we could have had way better dining experience on that special day. We will not return to this restaurant.
It was New Years Eve. The service and food were both very good. Disappointed with the menu choices offered and wanted the regular menu. The main issue was the outside setup for tables. Ambiance was not great. Cramped and noisy. Too close to each other and not very special for the occasion. My first time there.
Dined out with my family for New Years Eve dinner. Service was excellent despite the fact that the restaurant was fully booked and extremely busy. Special menu was varied despite being more limited than the standard menu. Wine and spirit choices were outstanding. Selected one of the recommended Sauvignon Blanc choices which was perfect. Even the desert choices were diverse and tough to choose from. The whole family was extremely satisfied with the overall experience.
Ordered lamb chops medium well. They came rare. Had to wait for them to bring out medium-well chips. Meanwhile, my dining partner completely finished his meal. We waited quite a long time to get our second drinks. I know it was a busy day but thinking they should be better prepared for the crowd. Our waiter was nice and helpful.
We live very near to Pacifica Del Mar, so eat there frequently and had Christmas lunch there today. The food was good as usual, as was the service. We have eaten there several times before on Holidays, and it can be hit or miss. For a restaurant that has been around as long as it has and normally does such a great job during the regular dining year, they sometimes have problems getting their act together on Holidays. Perhaps it is because it is not the regular staff...? Who knows. We are very appreciative of the fact that they are open on Holidays, however, and today was a lovely experience. There was a special three course set price menu with a few special items not regularly offered, as well as a couple of their signature dishes such as their sugar spiced salmon. I had my usual salmon but my husband chose the brisket. It was a bit fatty, but had good flavor. It was just the right amount of food and very reasonably priced.
We ate Christmas lunch here and were very impressed. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was efficient, friendly and attentive (rare for an holiday) and the views were outstanding. I have eaten here on non-holiday occasions too and have never been disappointed.
Service was great and attentive. View from our patio table near the window was phenomenal. However the food was over-sauced. Our scallops were drowning in sauce. Also the whole brazino was swimming in the butternut squash purée. Way too much purée, the fish got lost in it. Too bad, both dishes had potential.
I've been many times in the restaurant for dinner, but this was a first time for lunch. I was nicely surprised by the extensive lunch menu. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. We brought a friend who visited from Denver and because he likes the ocian, Pacífica was our first choice. We had a lovely view of the ocean and enjoyed good food and great service.
Pacifica Del Mar promotes their restaurant very well online but I can't say whether or not they live up to their reputation as we didn't stay to find out.
They seated us at a very small table in an uncomfortably warm room that was very noisy. Thank goodness a couple walked in who wanted a table or the matre d, who gave me a less than pleasant look when I told him we couldn't stay, gave them our table without giving me us a hard time. It was obvious that what he cared about was filling tables, not customer satisfaction.
We dined at the restaurant next door and enjoyed a lovely meal on Thanksgiving day.
We were at Pacifica Del Mar for Thanksgiving and chose the restaurant for its high rating. Food was great but it was extremely hot and no air conditioning in 87 degree heat. For the cost of the dinner the dining area conditions should have been better. Food quality was great!
