Pacific Catch San Mateo Ratings and Reviews
Made a reservation on line. They were ready for us when we came. Got a great table by the window. Started with a flavorful Mai Tai. My friend had the salmon, which she loved. I had the tacos which were stuffed and very tasty. Our server Vinny was excellent. Both attentive and pleasant. It was a good time and we will definitely stop in again before an evening movie.
Excellent evening with family – group of five. Definitely recommend making reservations. I requested table in less noisy section. And, they did not disappoint. Fabulous front corner booth – ample room for five of us . Delicious appetizers, and entrées. Obviously, heavy emphasis on fish. However, my mom loves their pork ribs salad bowl. Fun place for groups or a date. Wide variety of menu options. Can't wait to go back! Overall, service was good too. Only criticism, was that our appetizers came out before our bottle of wine was served. Though, it did come shortly after. Take advantage of their half-price Tuesday night wine by the bottle.
Alex the manager went above and beyond and made sure my reservations request was seen through. Alex had a nice spot reserved for my special occasion. Furthermore the hostess and waitress were awesome. Thank you so much for such another great wonderful experience.
We ordered 10 appetizers for dinner for the 5 of us. They were all delicious, except for the salmon pokie, which seemed old. However, the waitress noticed we didn't eat it and inquired. She would up taking it off our bill, even though I told her it wasn't necessary.
I am not over-impressed with PC. The food is ok, but nothing to make me want to come back.
On the evening we were there, our server was a bit ditzy (I kept saying a GLASS of sparkling wine; first he comes with a bottle of NOMAL wine -? - and opens it even though I asked if it was sparkling. Then he comes back with a BOTTLE of sparkling wine. And I had to tell him again it was just 1 glass). But he was quite sweet making sure my niece got her birthday dessert with candle.
Also it was pretty hot out, and it seemed like the a/c was not up to the task.
Probably wouldn't go back.
the Pacific Catch Mai Tai is the bomb! like drinking liquid gold! Sweet and delicious.
We shared appetizers and all were really good, my favorite was the Korean Ribs , cooked to perfection and sticky! Hubs really enjoyed a new appetizer, salmon dip. It was very very nice, and you spread it on Endive or Chips. creamy, smooth with hunks of salmon! We also had a shrimp avocado roll, it was perfect
Pacific Catch is rapidly turning into my FAVORITE restaurant. I have been there 4 times now and every experience is awesome. The food is so good. I have never had a dish I didn't like. The staff is really helpful and they are quick. Great place to go if you are going to see a movie and you don't have much time. The drink menu is great too. They always have great food specials (which I always try and love them all) Excellent sushi rolls, excellent rice bowls! If you haven't been here, you are missing out!
Service is a bit hit or miss here. Been here for lunch and service was stellar but tonight it was definitely lack luster. Food was good though. We also made our reservation thru Open Table, noted it as a birthday dinner for a party of 8 but there was no birthday acknowledgement whatsoever. But I can't expect every restaurant to have something to offer for a birthday party so didn't dock any points for that.
I have been to Pacific Catch many times - this location and others - and I'm always happy. Great food, reasonable prices, and always really good service. It seems harder these days to find consistently good service, but Pacific Catch delivers.
I really like their rice bowls - wasabi bowl and teriyaki bowl are my favorite. My daughter is 5 and she always orders the kids salmon bowl with rice and broccoli. They are known for their seeet potato fries, but they really aren't my thing. My wife loves them though.
Great job Pacific Catch - keep it up.
Pacific Catch consistently has excellent food and drink. We usually get put in the back room, where they seem to put old people and families with young children, kind of like that fraternity scene in Animal House. Nonetheless, the food is excellent--we usually get the salmon sandwich and the 2 taco platter with the chicken and steak taco (I'm not a fish eater) and they've never let us down. It is particularly convenient if you are going to the movie theater, which is steps away.
Extremely disappointing. The restaurant Mountain View is quite good and we expected the same. This started out poorly they seated us in the bar even though we had reservations and the restaurant was mostly empty. And the experience proceeded to get worse with the food. The food was either greasy, undercooked,or both or poor quality. The California roll was packed full of mayonnaise and pretty gross. Overall a rather nasty experience.
Fish and chips are highly recommended here but is highly inconsistent. Sometimes you get soggy rubbish and sometimes you get nice and crisp fish. The fish on this occasion was inedible and was returned back to the kitchen. The server gave some strange remarks like he was doing us a huge favour by pleading with the manager to take it off the bill. Service was sparse.
the service here is always very nice and attentive, esp since I like to ask a lot of questions about the food and condiments. we had the original poke which was good...also the blistered green beans which I liked too. I ordered the crab cake which didn't have a lot of flavor but the mango rice was worth taking home to go with another meal. the fish tacos are always very good whether you go with fried or grilled fish. sweet potato fries are a tasty treat too.
Not sure why i keep coming back. Guess subconsciously I really want Pacific Catch to prove me wrong. Its in a great location and the bar area is pretty neat. The menu is a fusion flair of multiple regions. Tried their rice bowls and the poke...both are mediocre. The sushi looks and tastes prepared ahead of time (not upon order) and the tacos are nothing special. Overall the food is blah and the customer service is okay but the ambience and location are pretty good. Wish the chiefs are more pro maybe then the taste and presentation of the food would be a lot better.
