Pacific Catch San Mateo Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations and were sat down promptly, service was 5 stars,
food was 4 stars, crab cakes were excellent, had a few drinks and the Manhattan were very good, restaurant was comfortable and not to noisy we were able to have a conversation and were not rushed. would definitely go back.
While I love the food, there is something off in the kitchen. Twice now for lunch, when they are not even busy, the food just takes forever . On both occasions we were comped dishes bc of the delay. My boss had to get up and ask after 45 min of waiting for fish and chips.
We came here for the 1st time and were able to be seated in Happy House section. The food came and portions were all good size and tasted delicious. California Poke was a bit salty and the calamari was soggy but everything else we ordered was delicious. We would totally come back again.
The food at Pacific Catch is fantastic, the service is friendly. Unfortunately, it's still a very chaotic experience. We had a reservation on a Friday evening, but that didn't secure us a table. We still had to wait in the foyer for about 20 mins for our table along with a lot of others who also said they had a reservation. The other issue is the noise level. This is a lively place with bar and dining in one room which is not super large. Don't come on a busy night if you want to chat. Last, because it was so crowded, servers were trying to cover too many tables. We waited an overly long time between requests and delivery. Our server kept apologizing for the wait. The whole meal felt very disorganized. Come for excellent food and loud, lively ambience - be assured you will get it.
Pacific Catch in San Mateo continues to be a superior restaurant to find and enjoy fresh seafood, prepared uniquely and well. The wait staff was attentive and able to describe the entrees. The dining area is relaxed abd private and conducive to conversation.
We have dined at the Pacific Catch in Corte Madera many times, but this was a first-time visit to the San Mateo location. I have to say, we were very pleased with the experience. We had family visiting and they were very impressed with the food. I would recommend this location to friends and would visit again if in the area. The ONLY downside is the parking downtown is a bit trying, but it was a Saturday night.
I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed the food and service never had an issue .....until this last time. We were seated in a booth along the bar area which we did not have a problem with until we realized the service would be a problem. Out waiter was the bartender so understandably he was very busy making drinks for the entire place and also waiting on the tables in the bar area and our booth. I think he did a pretty good job considering but unfortunately we didn't receive the same service we have in the past. He gave us water but did not offer us flat and sparkling like they usually have done and he forgot one of my daughters water cup so we had to remind him 2x. The food was great, my very young daughters love the fish & chips and they also love (and look forward to) the small dish of edamame and pretzel fishies they've given us each time we visit...so they were upset when we did not get that this time. We ordered our food and kept it simple which all came out great but he forgot our Calamari appetizer which is what I was looking forward to more than anything and actually the reason I decided to come in again. He apologized and asked if we still wanted it but we all had our food at that point. The worst was watching our neighboring table enjoy their calamari. Our food was great as usual and he did make a great margarita but unfortunately I think playing the double role of bartender and waiter affected his service. I don't blame him so much, I think a manager should not expect one person to play a double role especially when the bar area was busy.
Usually a good meal but the salmon I had was like shoe leather. Husbands simple order of two Baja tacos was incorrect when it arrived. Prices are not reflected in either the service or the food anymore. We will try again but it the repeats I'm afraid Pacific Catch will be
Made a reservation on line. They were ready for us when we came. Got a great table by the window. Started with a flavorful Mai Tai. My friend had the salmon, which she loved. I had the tacos which were stuffed and very tasty. Our server Vinny was excellent. Both attentive and pleasant. It was a good time and we will definitely stop in again before an evening movie.
Excellent evening with family – group of five. Definitely recommend making reservations. I requested table in less noisy section. And, they did not disappoint. Fabulous front corner booth – ample room for five of us . Delicious appetizers, and entrées. Obviously, heavy emphasis on fish. However, my mom loves their pork ribs salad bowl. Fun place for groups or a date. Wide variety of menu options. Can't wait to go back! Overall, service was good too. Only criticism, was that our appetizers came out before our bottle of wine was served. Though, it did come shortly after. Take advantage of their half-price Tuesday night wine by the bottle.
Alex the manager went above and beyond and made sure my reservations request was seen through. Alex had a nice spot reserved for my special occasion. Furthermore the hostess and waitress were awesome. Thank you so much for such another great wonderful experience.
We ordered 10 appetizers for dinner for the 5 of us. They were all delicious, except for the salmon pokie, which seemed old. However, the waitress noticed we didn't eat it and inquired. She would up taking it off our bill, even though I told her it wasn't necessary.
I am not over-impressed with PC. The food is ok, but nothing to make me want to come back.
On the evening we were there, our server was a bit ditzy (I kept saying a GLASS of sparkling wine; first he comes with a bottle of NOMAL wine -? - and opens it even though I asked if it was sparkling. Then he comes back with a BOTTLE of sparkling wine. And I had to tell him again it was just 1 glass). But he was quite sweet making sure my niece got her birthday dessert with candle.
Also it was pretty hot out, and it seemed like the a/c was not up to the task.
Probably wouldn't go back.
the Pacific Catch Mai Tai is the bomb! like drinking liquid gold! Sweet and delicious.
We shared appetizers and all were really good, my favorite was the Korean Ribs , cooked to perfection and sticky! Hubs really enjoyed a new appetizer, salmon dip. It was very very nice, and you spread it on Endive or Chips. creamy, smooth with hunks of salmon! We also had a shrimp avocado roll, it was perfect
