We came back to Ozumo and were we ever disappointed!! Our server Esra was a disappointment to say the least especially for a place charging these prices. She was not able to help us navigate the menu when we had questions. We asked her for recommendations in the appetizer section and she literally pointed at every single item in random order. She was very difficult to understand which made things a little frustrating. She took the drink order for 2 people in our party of 4 and then left. ?!? She ignored the 2 other people at our table. The warm dish for one person in our party was brought to the table WAY ahead of the sushi plates for the others. That person wanted to eat with everyone else (of course!!) and waited. By the time the sushi arrived, the warm dish was ice cold. We went to this place to celebrate a birthday. At every other restaurant our special event is at the very least acknowledged when the waiter first arrives at the table. Often times, something special is added like a tiny dessert with a candle or something similar. We got nothing. We had been to this restaurant a while ago and had an amazing waiter and amazing food. Not tonight. What a huge disappointment.

Food is good here as always but overpriced for the quantity delivered. The service was pretty pushy, trying to upsell us which isn’t a great feeling. Alas the place was close to empty, no doubt a function of hybrid/remote Mondays.

The food was amazing, whole experience started great. The service took an insane turn, we didn’t receive our drinks or appetizers at all, and we had to ask multiple other staff members to track down our server who would continuously glance at our table and refuse to come over even though our entire table was staring trying to get her attention. We finally get the drinks and apps in after I have to stand up and go get the server myself, but this was once we had finished all of our main courses. (At least 45 min with nobody coming to our table) After this, we are waiting for the check for another long period of time, we have to get up ourselves and go get the server again—she drops a check with a 20% auto grat attached, the audacity was truly beyond me. I assume that is why service suffered so badly—there was no reason to earn the tip?? I have worked in service myself for years, this was insane. We have to take it up with the manager, kindly requesting that we would not like to have that 20% on there, and she pushes back “she (the server) always is on top of it” I kindly tell her everyone has their bad days and unfortunately we were a victim of one. The manager refuses to say sorry, refuses to budge an inch. Luckily she ultimately took it off. Server comes back and tries to run our card on a device in front of us—for the old bill (20% still attached even though manager printed us a new one with it gone). We tell her the situation and then she removes. She then hovers as we try to pick the gratuity, she refuses to even TURN the device toward us so we can select a new, lower gratuity. We basically had to grab this from her hands to select differently. Insane experience that left a very bad taste in our mouths, will not be returning. Which is very unfortunate as the food was amazing.

We were immediately seated, then presented menus, then we waited for a long time for our waiter to come back. When he came he gave us with a few pointers about the menu and left again for a long while. When he finally came back to take our order, the birthday girl was willing to walk away. Restaurant was 1/2 empty at that time. It took a very long time to bring out our food, even a salad, they came in like a 4th dish. Then when we were still waiting for the appetizers, because it was too long, waiter came and offered us some miso soup, while we wait. I thought they would be complimentary, as a consolation price for too long of a service, however they showed up on the check. Although all the dishes were exceptionally good, service could be better.

Our waiter Enrique was amazing. He was helpful, friendly and overall attentive to our needs. He made our dining experience so much fun. He was suggestive when we asked and seemed to know exactly what we wanted. Ozumo was our favorite place to eat while on our 1 week vacation in San Francisco. Will definitely let anyone know who is visiting to be sure to visit Oxumo! Thank you for our great meal. Our food was also amazing!!! Thank you to the chefs as well!!

I booked a reservation here for my boyfriend’s birthday and overall it was a great experience. Some highs and lows from the dinner. Highs: - our bartender was really great with describing the menu and giving us thorough explanations and recommendations of the various liquor on the shelf; service all around was superb - the wagyu beef was so delicious and tender - the ambiance was nice; somewhat busy but not so much that we weren’t catered to - complimentary birthday dessert for my boyfriend Lows: - it was our first time there and little did we know, there was a spectacular view of the Bay Bridge just on the other side of the bathrooms. I would’ve have liked for us to be seated there for the special occasion. There were empty tables all night that would have fit the 2 of us. - you need to be prepared but it is going to be a more pricier meal - sushi and sashimi were just okay. It wasn’t bad, but for the price, I was expecting to be really impressed.

The dining experience was really unique. The service was good in the beginning but later throughout the evening we were looking for our waiter. The food was delicious as we ordered the Hanabi, Kyushu Karaage, Gindara and the Kakuni. The Gindara and Kakuni were mind blowing as the cod was cooked to perfection and the sauce it came with elevated the flavors. The pork belly(Kakuni) was life changing as the pork was buttery, flavorful, and a palate changing dish. The only dish that didn’t meet our expectations was the karaage as the meat wasn’t well seasoned and felt like the need for the chicken to be double fried as it was kinda mushy after the second bite. Overall this place has a great atmosphere and great entrees! Would recommend!

Main server could have been more attentive. Waited unreasonably long to get the bill; had to ask someone else. Another supporting food runner had opportunities with the volume at which they communicated as well as knowing our table’s order. Total cost would’ve been justified if the service was as good as the food.
