Food and service
I've been to Ozumo a few times before and always loved it. Last week, I did not. Let's start with the positives- a big dining room with tasteful decor and a beautiful view of the bay bridge and embarcadero. The service seemed designed to rush us out of the place. They literally rushed us through our meal and receipt process almost like they wanted us gone -- even though the restaurant was half empty. The sushi was good but not exceptional - certainly not what I would expect given the price they charged. All in all, I will not be going there again. Terrible value for the price, indifferent service and Decent but unspectacular food. All in all, a thumbs down.
Great quality sushi - the rolls were outstanding - but the Nigiri was lacking... hacked up pieces of Sake and Hamachi too small for the rice and too much wasabi on each piece... likely an anomaly and won't stop me from going back and giving it another try. Dinner for two with a bottle of Saki was @ $230 with tip.

The servers were all very nice but the hostess tonight was annoyed and unfriendly. She even scolded a waiter who was trying to help us :(
Service was average at best. Maybe it’s because they knew 20% would added automatically since we were a large group

I had a really bad experience with the waiter, we paid cash the full amount, and then a minute later the waiter came back with less cash, saying that we gave him 400 dolares short.
We did not wanted to make a scene, so we paid the 400 again and left the restaurant.
We sincerely hope managment does something about it.
Sir, You reached out me and we talked on 10th Sunday night. I want to follow up with you and apologize that we had a miscommunication at the night. I already explained to you and interviewed our server and he said you gave only $500 cash with all $20 bill. The server who served you has been working our company for three years and we trust him very much. Recommended by the concierge at the hotel. Enjoyed the variety of food. Did not realize it was almost a family style type of menu, but we made it work for a large group.

Food was decent but it took 2hrs to serve 4 dishes. Way too much time between dishes, & I’m a slow eater (though my dining partner was not, so he waited even longer).
A wonderful evening at Ozumo And the manager, Mel, was the absolute Best!
I go to Ozumo frequently and I think it is a good combination of good food and views and ambience. Some of the new menu is a bit pricey for the size of the dish but it still tastes good. Above average.
Waiter was outstanding and very knowledgeable.
we purchased the omacase for three people and felt like we were shortchanged. One course had four pieces of a suchi roll which is not divisible by three - probably were served the two person ration. Had to point out that there were only 2 toro sushi pieces (again this is for two people not three). On the desert, we were only given one small mochi cut into four pieces - if its not divisible by three then they are not scaling up to three people but they definitely charged for it. The dessert was mostly made up of not-ripe fig and persimmon. When we pointed these discrepancies out we were dismissed by the server. A bit of a dissappintment when they charge $160 per person!
We had 6 people in a private room and the food was terrific. The waitstaff was attentive and extremely helpful in ordering, since many of us were not Japanese food savvy. We got the order quickly and the food was delicious. I highly recommend Ozumo.

It’s ok. The soy and garlic edamame was super oily and the ramen was salty. I did not expect that. Normally the edamame doesn’t come with so much oil but you could see the separation of the soy and the oil at the bottom. The tonkotsu ramen was salty and lacked tonkotsu flavor. Prefer the sushi, so I will be back for that.
I have a gluten allergy and could eat almost everything as they use tamari in all things

Excellent chefs choice menu. Beautiful views although very loud.
It was my first time coming back to SF in years and was looking for a Japanese restaurant to meet up with my friend from high school.
Although the entrance area in the restaurant is noisy, the dining area is very nice and a great place to catch up with my friend!
The food was absolutely excellent! The sushi is so fresh and well prepared and all the dishes are made from the best ingredients.
The service was nice and attentive!
I will definitely be coming back!

Great sushi/sashimi - a little on the expensive side but fantastic food and atmosphere
Food was good! The waiter was not prepared and treated us like beggars demanding 20% service gratitude, would give by pleasure if he was most friendly and paid more attention to our dishes which he mistaken the tables and did not gave us good advices for the food, too bad! My friend paid the bill and he saw that and demanded 20% minimum gratitude because I think he thought we were saving money.
