Oyamel is always fun and lively. Enjoyed dinner this eve. The food was GREAT, and Amir provided excellent service. Not thrilled with sitting down at 7:05, with a 6:45 reservation. But that's really the only complaint. Will go back for sure.

The food and service was very good. The food is traditional Mexican food which was new to my wife and I. My choices were great - my wife was not as pleased with her meal - so it is a bit of a gamble if you are not familiar with the cuisine. Also, the service was very quick, so it is a good spot for a quick lunch.

Generally the food is excellent, we ordered 4 dishes to share, however this time 3 dishes were very good and one dish had hardly any discernible tastes at all, which was very disappointing. We both tried it and left it after one taste.
The service was excellent and the ambiance ideal.

This place was great! The food was phenomenal and the drinks were delicious. Our server was a little distracted and preoccupied, but the pacing of the meal was good. Every taco is completely absorbingly delicious and the desserts were unique and incredible. Would go again, but you must make a reservation.

My wife and I were in Baltimore for a conference and drove down to DC to have dinner with our daughter and son, both of whom live in the DC area. None of us had been to Oyamel before, although my wife and I have been to Jaleo. The evening was wonderful. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. My wife is from Mexico City but she was very pleased with the cuisine and said it was very authentic. We would definitely return to Oyamel in the future.

This was a fantastic evening! We ate at 9:30, which was a great time but could have been even later- still bustling up until 11, when we left. The food is heavenly. I've been there for brunch but never dinner before, and both are absolutely worth it.

Oyamel serves fantastic, imaginative Mexican cuisine at surprisingly low prices (for everything but the guacamole, which is terrific but pricey, as it seems to be at every Mexican restaurant). I’ve eaten here maybe fifty times over the past five years and have never been disappointed.

I scheduled a large table for my birthday and had a great time with the staff. They were very helpful in managing the room and various dietary restrictions. I could not be more satisfied with the service and food.

Amazing food and service! The place is a little loud - we had a super screamy table right behind us but the ceilings just let the noise bounce right down on top of us. But we had a fantastic meal. The quesadillas and cerveza were the highlights. We would definitely go back.

Oyamel has an excellent lunch special. One had the brisket, one had the beef tongue--both were accompanied by a ceaser salad. The complimentary chips and salsa never last long--particularly when you get their freshly made guacamole. Excellent service and moderately priced.

There was some confusion with the reservation, and we were seated back at the ceviche bar. But this was actually more quiet than the seated tables, and we enjoyed nice dinner conversation along with great food.

My Open Table reservation was honored the minute I arrived; that is always a big plus. The menu is very interesting and not at all your typical mexican or latin offerings. The food is all ala carte, which can make it add up. Drinks are not cheap either. Having said that, I would recommend people with some "daring" in them try this place at least once. The food, unfortunately, arrived far from warm; the kitchen is a long walk and the carriers include several tables at a time. If they can get this fixed I'd give them 5 starts!

Great food and atmosphere. We came when we were down to visit our daughter and some friends. There were six of us for dinner, and even though we arrived a couple minutes early, we were seated almost immediately.
We ordered drinks, guacamole (pretty good) and quest fundido con hinges, which was delicious.
Most of us got appetizers and an entree, and everyone enjoyed everything. The food ranged from tacos, enchiladas and ceviche to main courses like short ribs and shrimp to dessert.
The only thing that I thought that could be improved was that the food came out wily nily.

We liked Oyamel. The small plates are always a good way to share. The margaritas are fantastic! The chicken soup, ceviches, and guacamole were favorites. We thought the tacos overall were good. The fries with mole would have been better with less mole as it was pretty rich. They did a chocolate mousse, carmelized bananas, shortbread dessert that was outstanding.

The place has a nice ambiance , this was the first time I tried this place, but i wouldn’t take my family or friends over. My order consisted of just three tacos and a drink, they were not very good. The tortillas were breaking all over, poorly heated, and they arrived at different times (yes only 3 tacos were arriving separately one by one) my server was too busy taking care of other people that I had to ask other servers to get my check and for my taco order to come in just one plate and not at separate times in three different plates. Maybe I just went there in a bad day for them but my experience was NOT good. Don’t recommend.

It's loud in there, but it's part of their atmosphere. The food is modern takes on Mexican food. Some attempts are delicious (I urge you to try the vegetarian tamale), some attempts are less so... I wouldn't rush back, but I would rule out going again.

Fabulous food and loved the restaurant and the vibe! The hostess, however, was not friendly whatsoever (would actually say rude) and the service was not good at all. We probably waited over 20 minutes before anyone even came to our table to make contact. We were with a great group of people so normally wouldn't even care or comment but it was just so noticeable that it defintely needs to be mentioned.

As always, Oyamel serves creative, inventive and downright delicious food. However, this was my first time at the restaurant where the server was quite rude. Our main waiter was rather rude and gave us one-word answers, but the waiter in-training that was helping our main waiter was kind, attentive and pleasant! Just a note that during the busy hours, it might be spotty when it comes to service.
