food was great, service attentive. Try the Chefs tasting menu-there were too many great items to choose ourselves so loved this option and went home even with leftovers!
Great chicken rice soup a d chicken enchiladas
Excelente sabor. De verdad como si estuviera en Mexico. Volvemos de seguro!
Having lived in Texas and being spoiled on both Tex-Mex and Mexican, it was solid but not great.
Great food, great ambiance, even better margs.
Because my hearing isn't good, I'd asked for a relatively quiet table. Which is exactly what we got, in a window alcove. The restaurant's accommodation was even more impressive because the place was packed, yet we were given this table for four een though there were only two of us.
We enjoyed the tapas style so we could try a lot of different foods. Also, the tequila was great!
The food, service, and ambiance were incredible! Only downside was their website claimed they require COVID-19 vaccination for indoor dining, and I called to confirm that was true. I was told it was, but at arrival no one asked for my vaccine card. As a rather anxious diner, that didn’t make me feel very secure. Nonetheless a great dining experience!
Delicious. Wash DC fave.
Love Oyamel and go all the time. This recent visit was fine but we felt like they created a table in what used to be a walk way for waiters right at the foot of a staircase, and in front of a service station so there was quite a bit of traffic going around us. Otherwise, it would have been a great experience!
Josh provided exceptional service behind the bar. We'll be back not just because the food was great, but the service was fantastic! Thank you.
Everything was wonderful, especially the food!
Excellent all around! Food is amazing, plus friendly and attentive service. Dessert will astound foodies. Had Oaxacan chocolate custard with chocolate sorbet, passion fruit gelatin, chocolate and pumpkin seed crumble and fresh passion fruit. Tried it paired with Crema de Mezcal, Del Maguey’s combination of Miel de Maguey and Mezcal San Luis del Rio is smoky with just a hint of sweetness. Interesting, unexpected flavor combinations. Did we mention the house margaritas? Another wonderful surprise!
Great experience. Was super crowded due to a concert at the arena, but they were well staffed and provided excellent service in spite of the large number of people. Food was excellent as always
Mushroom taco was amazingly delicious! And the complimentary tortilla chips were much better than most.
The service, food, and overall experience were outstanding.
The food, recommendations and service were all outstanding. You're missing out if you don't make this a regular visit in the District.
Always great! Food is delicious!
Ordered the tasting menu as we felt adventurous. Great things we would not have otherwise tried.
Outstanding meal - everything we ordered was superb! Matt, our server, was second to none! We will be back, no question!!!
Great food and atmosphere! Have the margarita pitcher - you won’t regret it!!!
Hockey pre game
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance was fantastic. We sat on the patio with a heater and it was warm and toasty. The food was delicious.
Fabulous food though as always a little loud inside
Food was delicious!
Always incredible flavors and ambiance.
Although I am in the food and hospitality industry, I have dined out very little during the pandemic. This was our first visit back to dc since Covid, and I expected much disruption due to the many challenges of operating a restaurant these days. We had such a wonderful meal at Oyamel (how we’ve missed it!). Our server was a delight, and dinner was amazing.
This was my first time dining at a Jose Andres restaurant, and I was impressed. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and helpful with my dietary restrictions, and the food and drinks were all excellent.
Excelente atención! Buen guacamole. Recomendadas las quesadillas de chicharrón
Always a great place to eat. I was disappointed that the vaccine card was not required. I would not have gone there to eat indoors if I had known that.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in the region. The only place with margaritas better than mine. The food is excellent as well.
I loved my waiter he was so funny and helpful. I’m
Vegan and he gave me all the options. Food was fast and so good on a busy game night
I made reservations expecting a large crowd for Saturday brunch. It wasn’t actually crowded, but service was still poor. We had to wait for everything. Ordering, drinks (multiple times), new plates, serving spoons and forks for shareables, etc. Food was good but not amazing. Will try other spots instead of returning here.
Our waiter was amazing. Knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The food came out delicious, hot and at a the right pace. It may be "tapas" size, but very filling. Great fresh ingredients that combined made it an outstanding meal. It was a great dining experience!
Just great overall. Great place to hit before an event at the arena.
Everything was fantastic. The salty/lime foam on the margarita was incredible.
We had drinks at the bar for happy hour first which was great. Margaritas were amazing as well as the chips and dip. Vibe is great too! Only complaint was the portions for dinner are very small. My boyfriend got the quesadillas which were small and nothing comes on the side, same with my two tacos. Everything was delicious but we left still a little hungry (especially after the margs!).
One of the best places in DC. Especially for the price
Daughter’s 17th birthday. Limeades and food were terrific. Service was a bit slow but we had plenty of time and server was very pleasant. With small plates should restaurants replace your plates a few times? They became pretty messy after a few dishes. Oyamel has always been one of our favorite celebration places!
