Everything from the food to the drinks to the service exceeded our expectations - we had such a great night and will be sure to return!
Amazing as always :)
Beautiful guacamole, ceviche and quesadillas. Not so good the rest!
Food was pretty mediocre and service was okay. Wouldn’t go again.
Oyamel is great but the Caldo tlalpeño was way over salted.
It began with a warm greeting at the door and just got better from there. The place has the potential to be lively and fun, but, of course the Corona messed that up. It was pretty empty and their safety procedures were top notch. The menu was fun - traditional dishes with modern touches. We shared the octopus, I had the duck dish, and my girlfriend had three tacos - chicken, mushroom, and pork. The mushroom and pork were outstanding, the chicken was chicken ;) The duck was a special and it was amazing - melt in your mouth, interesting, lively, with no one flavor overpowering another. The octopus was tender and had a delicious smokiness from the salsa negra balanced with a not overly sweet potato puree. Sounds all la ti da, but I really think everyone will find something they will enjoy on this menu. The drinks were good, but seemed a bit pricey - that being said the food prices were more than reasonable and it is Penn Quarter after all.
Delicious meal. Great service from Jan Michael. Very safety focused environment. Highly recommend!
Great Covid precautions! Food was excellent, as always!
Superb food and service, as always! You can count on Oyamel for a great meal.
Even with COVID-19, it's still my favorite restaurant in DC. We sat outside and the service was great.
Great service especially with the current COVID restrictions.
Loved it here. Oyamel had a great outdoor seating, and was able to make sure we got a table there since we aren't comfortable sitting inside. The food was great and so was the service
Great food, affordable price, very nice staff. Pretty decoration and comfortable seating.
Service was excellent with socially distant seating and COVID precautions. Food was outstanding and cocktails amazing. Their salt air marg is my favorite!
I've been going to Oyamel most weekends since their much-anticipated pandemic reopening. They've made lots of improvements in terms of separating tables from each other, opening up outdoor space, providing heaters, the mandatory logistical changes...everything works like a charm and each weekend has been better than the last. The food remains an explosion of favor - I can certainly speak to the chilaquiles, quesadillas huitlacoche, cochinita tacos, and of course the guacamole. Excellent service across the board as well; I give it my highest recommendation
The food, ambience, and overall quality was amazing. Oyamel continues to be my go-to Mexican restaurant for all of my special occaisons.
The food was mediocre. The tacos were pretty boring and predictable. I had the oysters on tostadas for dia de muerta. It was a decent treatment. But none of the food stood out. The margaritas were delicious though, and overall a decent dining experience with my hubs. The plexi glass and covid handling was well done.
Excellent taste and service!
The staff took a lot of measures for sanitation and cleanliness. The food was incredible and service was fast & attentive. Would definitely eat there again.
We are always treated like family at Oyamel and this time was no exception. The staff collectively had a very nice gesture toward my family that we deeply appreciate. I'd like to especially mention servers Jan Michel and Nacho for their particularly nice disposition that day!
The hostess was amazing and accommodated our early arrival. The service was on point and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the Brussels sprouts and the enchiladas. Wife had the pomegranate margarita that she still talks about. We’re already planning another visit!
Always a good experience at Oyamel. It's one of our favorite DC restaurants, as it never fails for good food, drinks and ambiance. We love the Chilorio de res taco, and we tried the Frijoles refritos con queso for the first time and it was amazing! I think the Pollo a la parrilla flavor could be improved, as it's pretty simple. Also, the sweet potato in the Taco de Camote con pipian de cacahuates could have been cooked a little more, as it was a little less cooked than we prefer our potatoes to be. As always, the Salt Air Margaritas were delicious. Service was great, we dined outside and it started to sprinkle ever so slightly and they opened an umbrella up right away for us.
Great food great atmosphere great service. Wonderful day!
Second time here, so yummy. Indoor seating is super safe with plexi glass between each table. Great selection at the bar. Great brunch menu. The GUAC omg so good. Weirdly cool water glasses lol
A favorite place for a really good Mezcal Margarita and delicious food.
My wife and I had a date and haven't been here in 2yrs. The drinks were as good as we remember and food was fantastic. It was a great experience for us as it was 2yrs ago.
Restaurant was pretty empty but food was great although it’s quite pricey
It was terrific as always. Great food and service. Well worth it, can’t wait to go back.
Fantastic, as always.
Oyamel is our favorite restaurant in the City. The food is always wonderful and they have the best margaritas around. We sat outside and despite a little rain the umbrella and a wind screen kept us dry. Despite the weather the service was great as well. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Oh my - Oyamel is fabulous. We devoured the menu bite by bite and everything we had was so fresh and flavorful. Such a wonderful treat!
The outside tables were really in the street but the fairy lights and umbrellas made it attractive. It was a warm evening and very pleasant. The food was excellent as usual and the masks we all wore were unobtrusive and the sanitation standards impressive. We felt safe. Had as great a meal as we always have and resolved that this was the way to eat in future until covid passed. The margaritas were great and we took comfort in the fact that alcohol is a disinfectant and ordered a second round. We are very very cautious but the measures taken were reassuring and we will return.
This was our first time dining-in since COVID-19. The experience was great. Restaurant occupancy was appropriately limited, staff wore masks and gloves, hand sanitizer was available to all, social distancing was good, especially with the plexiglass screens separating tables. Food and drinks were great as always.
Good food, Margaritas, and service. However we were put in the back dining room which is not very attractive and not very well lit.
Great Food and Drinks. Outstanding service and it did not break the bank. This earns my loyalty and I will be back.
Oyamel is wonderful every time I visit. I recommend the Brussels sprouts, meatballs, steak, and cilantro rice. The chicken soup is also to die for!
Service was great and the tables are set up with ample social distancing currently.
Always a delightful and delicious experience at Oyamel!!! It is my favorite place to go!!!
Excellent all around as usual. Outdoor dining space works really well!
So nice to my dogs! Thank you!
Great food and excellent service!
