I was enjoying myself until I got a condescending email from open table saying we were a no show. This was while we were seated for dinner. This app sucks.
Food was fantastic but it was so loud I had a very hard time hearing my colleague
Poor service and constant rushing made us unwelcome and ruined enjoyment of a good menu. Never going back!
The ambiance is wonderful and the interior decoration was very colorful. We ordered from the Almuerzo Rapido menu. I started with Albóndigas enchipotladas con queso doble crema, Pollo a la parrilla taco, and the Jericalla de chocolate con maracuya for dessert. It was delicious.
We had a 7:30pm reservation. When we got there the place was packed and the hostess was completely overwhelmed. After 15 minutes of waiting, I inquired on my table and was told that the party before had paid but had not left it. It took a total of 45 min to get our table. The manager did come over to apologize and give us free guacamole but I would say the restaurant should consider spacing out there reservations if that is the issue because we were not the only party left waiting even with reservations. It was very frustrating and again the hostess didn't really seem to know what to do about it. The food was good, but it was very noisy inside. Not my favorite Jose Andres experience.
Food was nice but too loud.
Non-traditional, but excellent ceviche from a ceviche lover. Mole was good, especially on the potatoes.
Very good. Food & Service. We all really enjoyed it.
Our waiter, Oskar, was excellent. My son has Celiac disease and Oskar helped us navigate the options with ease. The food was delicious! Our family had an incredible dining experience. Thank you.
A nesr perfect lunch experience. Looking forward to returning soon
We absolutely loved Oyamel. The food was superior, our waitress was very friendly. Another excellent experience at a José Andrés restaurant. Kudos to you and your staff. We will definitely return when we are in DC again. Thank you !!!
Server was the best.
Food and staff were outstanding! Would definitely go back and recommend this DC staple to everyone!!
OUTSTANDING FOOD LIKE ALWAYS, AMBIANCE WAS GREAT. The service was not the best this time, our server was not attentive of our needs, I have to ask three times to get water refills. I PUT A NOTE IN MY RESERVATION THAT WE WERE CELEBRATING MY WIFE’S BIRTHDAY, NOBODY EVEN MENTION ANYTHING TO US. LOVED ALL JOSE ANDRES RESTAURANTS, but the service this time did not leave me happy.
The portions were very small for the cost of each plate.
Really great food, but our seating was in a high traffic area and it was a bit hard to hear. Maybe there's an echo in the corner?
Honestly, you can’t get better than this. Very great food. I’m not joking, one of the best restaurants I’ve Ben to that’s Mexican. It was crowded, like most restaurants in Washington. The noise was literally crazy. When I say deafening, I’m not joking. The noise just didn’t make it fun to be in. I would highly recommend the food
Please add noise dampeners
We had the Oyamel Experience, which is basically a tasting menu and cocktail pairing. It was excellent, but a lot of food. Come hungry and skip the homemade guacamole so you have room for the food. Excellent evening!
A group of five women went on a Friday night. We arrived at the reservation time and were seated immediately. Guacamole is as good described. Everyone enjoyed their food with particular raves for the chicken soup and ceviche verde. The main issue was that it was so loud. We were lucky to have an alcove so a bit easier to enjoy conversation.
Food was good but small portions. Service was slow so we couldn't order more in a timely fashion. Foam drinks were fancy but underwhelming. Guac was delicious. It was extremely loud. But good for a celebration.
Great experience!! Excellent food, fantastic atmosphere and super accommodating with food allergies and comprehensive Allergen menu!
Every single aspect is amazing, I recommend often and without any reservations (do make one!)
Party atmosphere, great service, good food. The bathroom is hard to get to.
Service was a bit slow and elusive. Typically I don’t love overdone menu explanation or suggestive selling but in this case we ended up underinformed and underfed. Weren’t told that the Ropa Vieja enchiladas were served a la carte so just received a small plate of two enchiladas and nothing else. A bit meager. When paying, after giving card, server brought back the check for our order but a credit card slip that was roughly double our check amount. Quickly rectified but if I hadn’t paid attention would have paid double for our little lunch.
Great place, great food. I try to eat here every time I visit D.C. You can't go wrong with any of the food or drinks. One of the best in D.C.
Terrific as always!
Great food with attentive service. Plates are intended to be shared but start slow because the portions are generous. Mole in particular is delicious and the guacamole is consistently excellent.
If we had a better waiter it might have been a more positive experience. He did not come to the table unless we flagged him down. He needs to learn that is what gets the tips. It was entirely too noisy to converse. Won't be back.
We had a terrific time just a few weeks go, but this time we’re a party of six, it was not an enjoyable experience! Had to wait a long time for the table, even though we had a reso. The server got a third of our drink order and the same throughout the evening with everything else. Hasta la vista!
Outstanding, as usual!
Bravo Chef Andres!
Good food, nice staff
Great food and drinks.
As a foodie with high standards, Oyamel is hands down, one of the best fusion Mexican cuisine places that I have ever eaten at. Everything on the menu is amazing, from the food to the drinks. Highly recommend for all occasions.
Delicious food - amazing guacamole done on the spot! -, super friendly service, fantastic atmosphere!
Always a pleasure-great food, great drinks, great staff!
My husband and I went to Oyamel with high expectations- it's a Jose Andres restaurant and what's not to love about this guy and his food? This place doesn't live up to Jose's reputation. The food is meh (mostly bland). It's SO loud. My husband and I had to yell at each other across a tiny table the entire time. We were seated right next to a waiter's station where they check in the orders and deal with checks etc so there was someone talking/dropping things/whatever constantly. Our waiter was pushing to get our orders, he spilled stuff (chips, water) on us and yelled in my face across our table from the station to get someone's attention. Otherwise he was nice (ha ha) but altogether we just did not enjoy our experience. Maybe next time.
We go here all the time. The food and service is consistently good. We really love this place!
Front hostesses very efficient. Waitress friendly and efficient. House “Mole” dish not available. Would recommend for good Mexican food.
For my wife’s birthday. Terrific meal and drinks. A Mexican restaurant unlike any others.
Delightful decor and staff. Two thumbs up!
