Perfect! Great service, great food. Chicken soup is excellent. I like that they chop up the anchovy so it’s spread throughout their Caesar salad. Chips are always top notch!
Food was very nice - guacamole was heavenly good. Other dishes were surprising, one dish was so hot and spicy, I was coughing the whole night, from its effect.
Food was very good, table seemed to be strangely situated in-between two others. Way too expensive for Tapas. Would have liked to know you need to order 3-4 dishes to fill up throughout dinner prior to going.
Good service could not make up for truly ordinary/mediocre food in a horrifically noisy environment...octopus in an acrid source, rubbery queso fundido sitting in a pool of oil, bland ceviche with ahi tuna.
And by all means beware the special truffle menu. After being assured the truffles were true truffles (even though from Spain), with the taste/smell quality of true truffles, they had no particular truffle kick at all as they sat like three slivers of thinly-sliced brown cardboard on what became very expensive potato fritters.
Phenomenal food and fantastic service. Every plate we ordered was delicious starting with the guac to the cauliflower truffle fundido to the tacos and then Cafe de olla with tres leches. I can't wait to go back to DC and visit Oyamel again.
Nice restaurant. Wait staff was a bit busy during the peak period, so if you go during that timeframe, you may have to vie for attention sometime. Other than that the spot is great. Guac is fresh and delish and the salsa is soo good too. I love this spot and will return.
Buena comida , buen ambiente y buen valor por el dinero
Oyamel maintains a ridiculously high quality of creative and delicious food.
Fantastic job well done by ALL
Delicious food and drinks. The ceviche was especially wonderful!
We had the nicest lunch at Oyamel on a very busy Sunday afternoon. We had a 1:15 reservation and were seated promptly. We had our 2 young children with us and they accommodated us with a booth by the window. The food was delicious, especially the guacamole!
We found the food at Oyamel to be fine, but not outstanding. The service was a bit pushy, even going so far as to state that we ordered too little food and should really reconsider. The portions are tiny, but what we ordered was adequate to fill us up for lunch. Drinks were quite good. Noise level was loud to very loud. Overall, we'd say that this restaurant trades on the reputation of the owner (Jose Andres), but if you take that out of the equation, the food and atmosphere do not justify the pricing.
Always a family favorite. Jose andres does it right. The tapas plates are all excellent.
It was perfect. Happily set us at table for larger group because we had e tea, quick service and food was divine Guacamole was hearty and tasty, chips seemed hi w made with smoky dip, fish tacos were folks favorites. Just a great experience.
Service was great but the ambiance of our romantic Valentine’s Day meal was absolutely destroyed by the overly loud group of 10 that sat next to us.
Superb. Met expectations. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and went the extra mile on a very busy night to satisfy a request for specific table. That was thoughtful and much appreciated. The food was imaginative and well prepared and the mandatory valentine's day menu had an interesting and varied selection for each of the five courses. Not one of the four of us was disappointed by any of them. It was pricey at $75 but by the end we didn't mind. Probably my fault that I didn't realize there was no a la carte that night. I'll go again I hope and you should too.
The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the food was outstanding. My husband is a chef and he was very very pleased with the delectable food choices!
wonderful small plate dishes including ceviche and roasted Brussels sprouts
Best guac in the city along with those amazingly flavored tortilla chips!! The lengua taco is a repeat favorite & my husband thought the pork belly quesadilla was the best quesadilla he's ever had!! We finished a pitcher of margaritas easily also. The only improvement we have was that our meatballs were a bit salty, everything else was perfect. Highly recommend the flas with apple sorbet to round out the meal.
Good but astonishingly overpriced meal. Might go back but not sure.
Always a great time. Food is always very good, and it comes out surprisingly quickly given how busy it typically is. Great value for what you get. And great service, as always.
Great service and food. Had a reservation and was seated quickly. Waiter had great recommendations and food was great. Was there for my birthday and the complimentary dessert was amazing. Was a bit noisey but overall a great restaurant!
Lovely. We even saw Jose Andreas.
The food was good overall, but read the menu carefully to make sure you know what you are getting. For example, I (and one of my companions) ordered the gazpacho as an appetizer thinking we were getting a cold vegetable soup and what showed up was kind of a fruit salad. We actually thought they confused our order with some other table. The dish was very good and the menu probably explained it, but definitely not what we expected. My second (main) course was a (single) taco that had decent flavor but the tortilla was maybe three inches in diameter and it had at most two table spoons of filling. First "Mexican" restaurant I have eaten at where two or three of those would not be considered an appetizer. I was sitting facing 7th and looking at Hill Country BBQ across the street and kept thinking I would have had just as good of a meal at a better price point had I walked across the street.
The food was good, but the service was slow/inept. And the restaurant was so incredibly loud that I wouldn’t recommend for groups larger than 4 people.
Always great food and service. A modern, delicious take on Mexican food.
Birthday brunch... excellent service, good cocktails and great tacos and fresh guacamole
Everything was delicious, especially the desserts. Tacos a bit small though.
Oyamel is our favorite place for innovative dishes representing the diversity of Mexican cuisine. This was our first experience with brunch at Oyamel, and we were pleasantly surprised that the offerings were both stimulating and affordable. The steak and eggs and Huevos Rancheros were both delicious. Our server was attentive and very helpful with the questions we asked about the menu options.
Everything was delish! From the chips and salsa to the Mimosas! Happy dining experience!
We always enjoy the Oyamel margaritas with the salt foam and the pork belly quesadillas. One thing that always stands out is Habir - he's been our server a few times now and he's exceptional and lovely.
Our food was very good though not rising to the finesse of A five-star restaurant. Service was very friendly but a bit unpolished. Ambience is fun and lively and the two 20-somethings with us really enjoyed it.
Great guacamole, cevviche, fish tacos. We also loved the brussle sprouts. Service was not super but it was very crowed the night we were there.
Oyamel has the most authentic "upscale" Mexican food of any DC restaurant I have been to. The prices are a bit high, but the quality is high too. Everything on the menu is tasty, but if you are adventurous, go for the grasshopper taco. Mixed drinks are good, but even more expensive than the food. The beers are fine, but only bottles. They need to get a few Mexican Beers on draft!
Food was great and the Oyamel Margaritas are a define must but the service was a little slow. Still had a good time though.
This is my favorite restaurant in DC . The guac and margaritas alone are enough reason to go.
Great time at another Jose Andres masterpiece! The lunch sandwiches were very filling and delicious.
Restaurant has lots of unique personality and appeal. Service was excellent and food was creatively prepared and presented. A good lunch experience.
Always enjoyable, lively at 6 pm (!) but we had a table in the back and could hear one another talk. Food is consistently great.
Great ad always!
