We came for the salt air margs and the mariachi for Cinco de Mayo weekend, both of which did not disappoint. Loved the large, open feel of the restaurant with the doors open on a nice sunny day. Salt air margaritas are a revelation and the food was delicious. Avocado salad, fresh made guacamole with chips and salsa, pulpo matcha, shrimp with black garlic, fish and suadero tacos, tuna ceviche all were great. Ended with a bang with the corn flan. Everything had great depths of flavor with fresh ingredients. Shout out to our server, Devin, who did a fantastic job taking care of us all day. Only wish was for another hour of mariachi. Will be back for happy hour ASAP.

We had a joyful experience at Oyamel. Staff were especially kind and each item was delicious with its own new twist. The space feels airy and vibrant. A lovely pause from our walk along the High Line.

Wanted to love this spot but still a lot of growing pains. So many misses on every level. Hostess was not the brightest and literally could not find my reservation after 3 times of giving and spelling my name, which is not that hard (4 letters). Seated us at a table that was crowded and hard for us to hear, we asked for outside seating, which there was plenty of, but was told they were reserved. By the end of our meal, those tables were all still there, no one in them. Tried to order a mojito but was told the bar might be "too busy" to make it, they would have to check with bartender first. What??? never heard of that, staff appropriately for the bar or don't have one. And then when my mojito came, there was NOT even ONE speck of mint in there anywhere! Not even a mint garnish to make it look or feel like a mojito. Where's the muddled mint, or any mint for that matter. Made a comment to the waitress about it, not apologetic at all. Service was extremely slow, and the chairs were simply not comfortable. Given the acoustics and width/depth of the tables and the uncomfortableness of the chairs, none of this seating is ideal for a conversation without shouting at each other. The guacamole came, but it's probably some of the saddest and smallest portion presented I have ever seen, for the price they charge, it wasn't even pretty, barely saw on tomatoes. If they say eat with your eyes first, this was not the case here. Don't expect to eat with your eyes. The one good thing is the salt air margarita. Love Chef Jose, and his other spots, but won't be hurrying back to this one anytime soon.

Underwhelming. Dishes that were supposed to have heat (guacamole) had none. Some were one note (camarones) or just bland (arroz con hongo). Nothing special.

Interesting, delicious food, very much grounded in an eclectic Mexican cuisine. We started with a flavorful, original salad was listed as a " gaspacho" variation. The waiter staff made clear that it was not a cold soup, but rather a salad. In lieu of sampling the varieties of guacamole, bee tried the avocado salad, which was excellent, and had a pureed avocado base nicely complemented with light greens The tacos are very tasty, and on the smaller side, allowing for you to try several, especially if you are sharing. Our favorite dish was a cooked shrimp in a dark garlic sauce, which was very garlicky, but nothing like the typical "gambas al ajillo" that one often gets when doing garlic and shrimp. Dessert was the churros which you dip in chocolate sauce. It was good enough that I, who generally don't care for this dessert, couldn't stop eating it. All washed down with some excellent cocktails, including a Negroni Bourdain, and my favorite, a salt air margarita The place is not cheap, with the bill exceeding $200 for two, but everything was very good quality. I have already made plans to visit Oyamel for lunch

I understand that it just opened, so maybe that was the reason why the service was so slow. Also, the 1st drink we ordered tasted awful; thankfully they did make us somwthing new at no cost. The servers brought out the meals one a time with a rather long lag in the orders. The meal really lacked flavor

We love Jose Andres' restaurants and were really excited to try Oyamel. The food was mediocre. The Carnitas tacos was dry and without much flavor. The chicken mole dish was also very bland. Overall for the prices and quality of the food, I wouldn't go back or recommend it. We love the burgers at the food court outside as well as his tapas locations outside.

I didn’t expect to be dining in a sports bar. I’m actually surprised that a restaurateur the likes of José Andrés would open a restaurant with 3 huge screen televisions all showing live sports. We happened to be there during a huge soccer match, so the whole place was cheering and screaming. We couldn’t even have a decent conversation with our friends until the game ended and everyone seemed to leave. There were tons of community tables and s few huge booths, which I thought odd. In all fairness, the food was excellent. The best things on the menu were the chicken tacos and the shrimp aguachile as well as José Andrés’ famous margaritas with the molecular salt foam! Fantastic. Our server, Vivian, was also amazing. It was the atmosphere that was the most disappointing. I guess I would go back to watch the Knicks or Yankees in a playoff game.
