Lamb chops and endive salad were spectacular. Brussel sprouts medium
This is the second time I’ve been here for a business lunch.
There won’t be a third.
I asked for the burger medium rare, no bun. Server asked if I wanted the salad and fries that came with the meal. I said yes to the salad, no to the fries.
The burger arrived with the bun, an order of fries and no salad . The restaurant had four or five tables with no more than three patrons at each- they were not slammed.
Eventually the salad arrived when I spoke to the server, who blamed “downstairs” for the foul up.
This is almost an exact replay of the first lunch I had here in terms of service issues.
It verges on insulting when a really simple request can not be remembered in the 10 minutes between ordering & delivering the meal. It feels like disdain for the patron.
I expect better of a Valenti restaurant.
nycglamazon, we’re so sorry to hear about this. Thank you for your feedback, and please, if you do return, ask to speak with a manager. We’d like to make your experience a perfect one.
I visited when venue first opened and food was great. One year later, not so much. Two of us in our party ordered fish, both dishes were overcooked. Venue was almost empty, yet service was bit rushed. Hope things get back to normal as I like this venue.
My steak was tough, and the service was less than stellar. At these prices, one would expect more.
Great, expensive. But, hey—-it’s NY
The only thing keeping my rating from 5 stars is the lack of a changing table in the restroom. With the number of families with small children as patrons, it seems a very clear oversight and a disappointing discovery.
The service was attentive and the food wonderful. We had the rock shrimp appetizer and the potato chips. The sauces were yummy. We also had the chocolate mouse and it was excellent.
Crispy shrimps were great. Loved the Duck Ragout! Deserts were amazing!! :)
From a Lincoln Center performance, this has become the "go-to" place to dine when we are with a certain set of friends. While the dinner was delicious - even my special request for two appetizers was fresh and filling without comment, and shared among the table, the restaurant filled quickly and perhaps the staff was missing a few.
The restaurant was quite good. It was a very cold night and the glassed in area is not heated well enough, but it was quiet enough to talk comfortably and everything we ordered was really good, especially the simply grilled chicken. Great seasoning and prepared perfectly. Our server was very good. It was a really nice evening. Also, unlike most restaurants, they seated us immediately even though the other couple hadn’t arrived yet. It was a delightful contrast.
love the place
Great experience in the neighborhood for dinner!
Interesting menu. Lovely setting. Excellent service.
First time at this restaurant. It seemed the seating was in all in one area; plus the tables were really close together in our area. Our waitperson was personable, answered question & made suggestions (but being a former waitress, I could see they were super busy). That said, the meal was excellent. The food and wine were yummy and the experience made a very nice birthday celebration. We will be back!
We were a party of three and everyone was very satisfied with their respective meal. The service was both friendly and prompt. We will recommend it to friends.
Went to Oxbow for dinner after walking past it a million times. Had a great seat by the window and our waitress was great. Everything we ordered from salads to steak and Halibut were fantastic. Drink order came quickly, wines list was extensive and reasonably priced. Dessert was also very good. Will go back and try some other dishes, burger, etc.
Off hours is very quiet. The food is sensational. George is a great waiter.
All aspects of the evening were as hoped for. Excellent service, delicious appetizers, salads and entrees. Nice but relatively informal atmosphere. My son is a spoiled foodie and he liked it a lot.
Great service good food in an interesting room. I’ll go back.
I have eaten here several times. Tonight’s valentine meal was lacking all around. Steak was overcooked and dry. Chocolate covered strawberries were soggy. This is too nice a restaurant for this to happen. Highly disappointed.
The food is always top notch. It is expensive, but the quality of the food and friendly service is exceptional.
greatplace, great food. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Consistently very good food and service. Love the quail. And wine list.
great ambiance, service and quality of food. decor is lovely and very comfortable.
It was very nice and good choice, attentive staff, presentation was good and overall like to come back.
Our first visit: Reserved a table and were seated promptly. After placing our orders, I discovered a nasty-looking meat gravy stain on the side of the tablecloth facing me. The manager offered another table, but nothing as good as ours was available. Fried chicken sandwich was delicious, although it could have used a bit more grenache, and it didn't need the raw onion (which cancels therein flavors. Fries were hot and glorious. Attentive service and a pleasant ambiance. We will return.
Not the first time we have dined at Oxbow Tavern and certainly not the last. Lunch is a rare treat, but for dinner before a Lincoln Center event with friends, this is the optimal choice. The location is convenient, the price fixe menu for dining prior to performance offers a plate for every taste. The wine offerings blend and accentuate every choice. The service is prompt and courteous. The placement of tables by the window yield interface with the New York scene. When celebrating a birthday the lite candle is carried with song to the celebrant!
Great lunch! Quiet, wonderful food and service. Very civilized place for a quiet business or social lunch.
We had a delicious omelet and chicken sandwich.
Excellent attentive service and lovely atmosphere.
Our waitress was amazing the food delectable and the entire evening was perfect!!!
We were meeting friends after going to the theatre. We had been there the week before and had a lovely meal. Our table was waiting. Out server was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. We’re definitely going back
FABULOUS! EASY! DELICIOUS!
Food was uninspired and disappointing. I could make better coq au vin. In a party of five, no one was impressed by their entree.
What started out on a good foot, quickly slid...seated on time, polite waitress only to have her disappear...We sat while other tables ordered...then we ordered....the food came but missing waitress and missing french fries....eventually they showed up but only eventually...another staff was really rude - when I asked if he could get the ice cream out quickly, he basically said no...that they "send it up when they send it up." Really? And when I indicated I would like my coat, he just ignored me. Others have said they have seen a service issue there so...something like that sort of ruins the overall experience. Others get both, good food and good service...so...onwards.
My boyfriend, his brother and I went here before a painting class on a Monday evening - it was superb! We shared the mushroom tarte flambee and I thought we were going to have to order another one. It was so flavorful and perfectly warm and melty. We had the Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich, Australian Lamp Chops and Coq Au Vin. I can say hands-down it was the best Coq Au Vin I've ever had, including in Paris. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and moist throughout (I did not try the chicken sandwich). For dessert: a cheesecake, chocolate cake and a passion fruit pudding (i'm not doing the descriptions justice - they were to-die-for!). Wine list is very well thought out and the champagne is superb! LOVE IT!
Interesting bistro menu, a little something for everyone, convenient location. Be warned however: Happy Hour is very popular, which makes seating iffy during that time. It's those terrific HH prices and options!
My only real complaint is that the decor is hard-edged--tile floor, tin ceiling, iron fixtures, widows out to the street, etc. So it can get deafeningly loud. Knowing this in advance, I requested the quietest table in the house--which we got. But it was still hard for a foursome to converse at a comfortable level.
Food is always delicious and fresh. Service is professional, and always makes for a fun time
