Check your bill carefully. The prices on the bill were not the same as those on the menu
First time there- reservation for lunch. We were one of two tables occupied.
We both ordered the chicken sandwich- he with fries, me with salad. Asked that they put them on separate plates so we could share the sides. Both ordered mayo on the side. I ordered coke with a slice of lemon.
Food arrived. No separate plates, no mayo for me, no lemon in coke.
How hard was this? Especially since the restaurant was empty.
Sandwich was very good, fries excellent, salad was just arugula w/dressing- very boring.
Expected more from a Valenti restaurant, for sure. Very disappointing.
Would probably go back for a do-over to give them another chance.
Just a brunch with a friend, but the best pancakes ever and the eggs Benedict with mushrooms are amazing!
I was meeting up with a friend I haven’t seen in a year and it was the perfect environment! We felt that we had privacy and yet, fabulous attention from the wait staff. Food was excellent!
Very nice place, however, pancakes were much more of a dessert than breakfast even without any syrup.
3 of us ordered the cod which was delicious. Shared appetizers, which we all liked. A little noisy, great server. Nice evening. They didn’t rush us out.
Too much noise, the service was so so and the food was good.
A great place for lunch on the UWS. A nice selection on the menu.
Great place for a burger! Like the ambiance, especially in the summer with the windows open. The only drawback are the chairs are not very comfy. Good place for groups. They have good round tables for good conversation.
Wish I could give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars! I think the menu is great..,the night I was there (Sunday) the owner/chef wasn’t cooking. I think it would be better if he were there! I would try the restaurant again when he’s at the helm. I had the salmon gravlax which was very tasty, clearly homemade, but didn’t stand up to the chickpea pancake and was overly horseradished. I had the duck breast with cabbage and lentils. Asked for it medium rare...came medium. The cabbage was nice but the lentils and cabbage combo was a bit tasteless. Also a bit horseradishy....the rolls (served upon request) were tiny pillows...very pleasant. Berry crisp was delicious. Just the right combo of blackberries and blueberries. Rejoice! Crumble is delicious, I would definitely order this. The wine list is expensive, but, there are a few good values if you are open to different varietals. I will definitely give them another try.
Seeking a place near Lincoln Center, recalling with pleasure experiences at the chef's prior places – Quest and Cesca – was disappointed by Oxbow. Menu limited and uninteresting, still can't believe soup and burger for two cost, with tax and tip,>100.00.
It’s got a nice bistro vibe, but we were underwhelmed. The servers were nice, but the service was spotty. The food was very disappointing. Everything was kind of lackluster, basically adequate at best.
More style then sustenance.
Beautiful bar. Nice setting. Food was good for some. Attentive service. Will try again. Our friend really enjoyed chicken sandwich
There were four of us at dinner. Overall, the food was tasty and well prepared but the service and room temperature left much to be desired. Although the general room temperature is fine, it is just too cold in the seats near the windows. Our waitress was unpleasant. First, we were rushed to place our orders. Then when I inquired if they would substitute grilled chicken for the fried chicken in the chicken sandwich, she rudely informed me that this was not possible. That doesn’t seem reasonable. We ordered desserts and coffee after our entrees. The coffees were brought soon after but there was at least a 20 minute wait for the desserts. When they arrived we were not offered coffee refills which would have been nice with dessert. Also, we should have been notified if any of the desserts was going to take a while to prepare. We had theater tickets that evening. Although we had allowed sufficient time for our meal, we were rushed to eat our desserts.
The food was pretty good, but similar food can be obtained at other places for a lower price. My husband's Nova plate was very good, but my whitefish salad was basically a large lump of whitefish salad and some toast points, the whitefish being comparable to what you can buy in a large container from Costco for far less money. So we had mixed feelings about the food while paying a premium price.
Nice restaurant with good food and very friendly service. Fatima, our server, was delightful. Portions are small for the price, however.
The new menu is wonderful and our server suggested a cocktail not on the menu but really good as wwll
So happy it’s back on the UWS
We had a lovely lunch there and great cocktails. The staff was very pleasant. Absolutely 'gobackable'.
Never disappoints. Has become our neighborhood go-to place.
Steak was terrible quality for the price. Wines by the glass were expensive and bad...had to send back the first round because it was undrinkable. Service was curt and blasé. Not going back.
Great food and service. Too cold near windows.
Our third try here and probably our last. Lots of screaming tables. Took 45 minutes for our main courses to arrive. Coq au Vin was dried out. Nice sauce but chicken had zero taste.
Food is really good, a nice variety--the grownups had lobster gnocchi and salmon, the kids had hamburgers, fried chicken sandwich and fries. The waitress was attentive even when it got busy. Close to Lincoln Center.
This is the third time I have visited OxBow Tavern and am thrilled it is in the neighborhood. While the font of house staff was lovely, our server was less than. Her surly attitude, inattentiveness and briskness was not pleasant. Perhaps she was having a bad night, but we didn't want to!
Great new addition to the neighborhood. $23 for a burger a bit steep but the food is very good, RIP Ouest, and the service friendly and efficient.
Pleasantly surprised at this find. We had tickets for Lincoln Centre and had a problem getting a reservation anywhere near Lincoln Centre at 6 o’clock so I went onto Yelp and found the Oxbow Tavern. The service was terrific my sister and I had burgers and we had no complaints they were perfectly cooked and tasted great. Nice ambience and not so noisy that you can’t hear the person across the table from you speaking to you. I would definitely return.
We had a lovely meal. The appetizers and entrees were very well prepared. We had the mushroom tart flambe app. and Coque au vin and their House hamburger for entrees and apple tart dessert and chocolate mousse - all delicious. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Nice wine selection and selection of specialty drinks. I am very pleased to have this as an addition to the Upper West Side. I heartily recommend this Tom Valenti restaurant. I look forward to checking out lunch or brunch.
Loved everything- the staff is fabulous!
Freezing cold and a bit too dark. No decent wine by the glass and wine list has a bunch of unknown wines. Appetizers are ho-hum but we loved the filet with bernaise sauce as our main course.
Overall the experience was underwhelming. I would go back here but only if I was not paying.
Wonderful service and delicious food.
We are grateful for the addition to the neighborhood!
We will be back!
Ask for a special ginger cucumber drink. Yum!
Overpriced for mediocre food and poor service.
Loved my Manhattan cocktail! And coq au vin was good, too. Thanks
Really good food. Would love some more variety and specials. Love the seared tuna with sumac. Odd item: Mushroom Tart Flambee is not a tart and not flambee -- it's basically a flatbread topped with a smattering of mushrooms. It was good/ok, but not stellar and it was misleading and definitely not worth its price. It is noisy and many of the tables are WAY too close together for comfort. We ended up sitting at bar because our reserved table made us feel like packed sardines and involved us in our flanking neighboring tables' conversations more than our own.
we were very disappointed with the service. It took 50 minutes to get our burgers. The server explained it away by saying that "medium well" took longer. When we inquired, we were told that the burgers were being plated, but it took another 5-10 minutes for them to arrive. There are many restaurants in the neighborhood. Not sure we will return to this one.
Great ambiance and food was excellent! I especially enjoyed the simply grilled menu, and the duck was out of this world.
Upscale, urban comfort food. Try the fried chicken sandwich, the Ragusa and rock shrimp appetizer. Friendly, attentive service. Tightly edited, thoughtful, well-priced wine list. All in a cozy brasserie setting.
Excellent food. Entrance is not at all accessible for older guests. Needs ramp or rail. Step height is awkward, bordering on dangerous.
FOR YOUR INFO ONLY, NOT FOR PUBLICATION It was New Years Eve. A week or so after I made a reservation I was called by the restaurant to say that they were changing the menu that night to a special prix fixe at $145. It was too late to find another place from among our favorites, so we went ahead. The salad was interesting, the cauliflower soup ok, the pasta inedible, and the steak over cooked (twice! I sent the first one back, but the second was no better). Certainly did not meet expectations so the price was RIDICULOUS. Oh, they never did deliver the glass of champagne that was included in the price.
