Great service and atmosphere. They offered a theatre menu which helps get you in and out in time for your show.
The service was excellent. The beef tenderloin and burger were quite delicious. Would definitely go back again.
Very attentive. Beautiful food & venue.
Such beautiful, carefully prepared food and so graciously served. It was a very special evening and I would highly recommend a visit to Oxbow for folks who love artful, tasty and inspiring food.
The cod dish we had was subpar, tough gnocchi, no flavour in the sauce. The porchetta however was very good.
Four of us had dinner here during the YYC food experience. The restaurant willingly adjusted the menu to accommodate one person in our party who had food allergies. Service was excellent, food delicious and value superb for this set menu. Everyone enjoyed the recommended wine. We live in the neighborhood and we will definitely return.
Food was great. The presentation of the food was awesome. Service and ambience were fantastic.
Had a decent dining experience at Oxbow. Food was exceptional and the ambience is excellent. We made early reservation so it was quiet first but got quite noisy at the end ~8pm on a Monday.
Highly recommended Tofino Salmon as it was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with crispy skin.
All dishes took a long time to come especially with desserts as they got busier. We waited for at least half an hour after placing the dessert order and one guest had to leave before it came to the table (even the bill was paid for before desserts showed up).
Will recommend this place but long waiting time needs to be looked at by management. Overall good experience!
We lucked out as Oxbow was part of March's food & wine expo and they gave us their special 3 course menu in addition to their standard menu. We couldn't resist their special: the starter (legume risotto), one of each main course (seared Fogo Island cod or Crispy Porchetta) and the desert (chocolate brûlée). All were very tasty and well presented. Their standard 'feature wines', both white and red were very good.
The service was very professional and our server was knowledgeable about the food and wine.
This was a very enjoyable evening.
Oxbow was not our first choice on family day Monday. But with most of establishments closed on Mondays and due to stat holiday we ended up at Oxbow. As expected the place was not busy and we had two birthdays to celebrate. In brief, we were left puzzled by all the great reviews that we read on line. The service was average or below especially when there was only 4 tables to attend to. The ambiance was nothing special to highlight. We were here for the overall experience and for sure the food. The food from appetizers to main dishes were nothing to boast about. It fell short of being even close to very good. The food lacks flavors, explosive aromas and creativity. In other words going to Earls or Cactus will provide you with equal value and experience as this overrated eatery. Overall, a disappointment for all six of us.
The menu has no direction. Duck wings next to cheese and meatball tortellini? It just seems very poorly conceptualized. As well, the quality was poor.
The tortellini was terribly under-seasoned, a theme along the whole meal, as well as undercooked; the meatballs and cheese sauce under seasoned.
The tenderloin was slightly undercooked, poorly seasoned and forgettable with the garnishes.
The only highlight of the meal was dessert. Every bite was delightful, flavourful, and texturally pleasing.
My husband and I went to OXBOW on Sunday night wanting to try out a restaurant that we hadn't been to yet. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a "Sunday Supper" 3 course preset menu.
The experience was great for several reasons:
1. food was amazing - kale caesar salad to start, roasted duck breast on mushroom risotto and roasted beets and profiteroles with ice cream and chocolate sauce - everything was so tasty!
2. service was great - Joey, our waiter was just the right amount of friendly and attentive
3. AND...their feature wines are only $5 a glass!!
This little restaurant in the Hotel Arts Kensington was quite a find! We'll definitely be back and we'll bring some friends along next time. Well done OXBOW!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city. Had the valentines 4 course dinner with wine pairings. Was perfectly delicious, great service, great environment. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back. The cauliflower purée soup was outstanding. The brown butter carrot purée was delicious and paired well with the tenderloin. The wine pairings were great. The recommended cocktail to start with was also amazing. I have nothing bad to say. We also stayed at the hotel so was nice enjoying ourselves and drinking all the wine and just walking up one flight of stairs to our room.
We had brunch (room service) from them the next morning and the eggs Benedict with brown butter hollndaise was amazing.
The food was amazing and so was the service. Definitely have to try the Goat Cheese Dip. Cate really made for a great experience. We will be back!!
Best value in the city! Wonderful food and even better service.
Oxbow continues to be one of our favourite restaurants. The staff are always friendly and attentive and the food never disappoints. I always keen to see what new cocktail they have concocted and once again they created a libation that was awesome. My wife has a new favourite appetizer the Sunchoke Veloute.
I highly recommend the Oxbow.
Had a wonderful time. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere were delightful
Amazing. Nate is a gem
Nate, our server was excellent and made our visit even more enjoyable!
Most enjoyable evening. This was our first time having dinner at Oxbow. We were most impressed by the food and service. Everyone enjoyed the entrees from beef tenderloin to hamburger to vegetarian dish. Dessert was amazing. We were celebrating a special occasion and plan to return soon for brunch and dinner.
Although the food was on top, we believe that the menu was a bit overpriced.
We had duck wings (literally duck wings; 6-7 pieces) and toast with poached egg and potatoes (literally 1 toast with 1 poached egg and no potatoes but a handful of “chips”).
Overall experience was great; just a feeling of overpriced
Great food and service. The food was very well prepared with attention to detail.
Went for dinner before a show at the Jubilee and the food was amazing. Great location for before the show.
Food and ambiance were great (had brunch) ... truffle scrambled eggs from the buffet were amazing, also fried chicken and waffles eggs benny!
Made reservations for New Years Day brunch. The menu was simple and delicious. Also, if there was something that we wanted to have different, the chef was willing to make changes for you. Drinks were always topped up and food was always hot. Will be back again!
Great food and friendly service. Wine list offers tremendous value and fun selections. This place is a must try
Outstanding every single time my wife and I have been there. We both wish we could make it out more.
All our food was amazing! Start to finish. First time in a very long time that can say we will 100% be back!
The server was also very lovely. It was our daughters birthday & they went above & beyond. Thank you for that!
Waitress didn’t know the menu. Medium steak came out blue. Sent back. Came back with no cutlery and replated missing all sauces. Steak returned charred but still blue and everything else on the plate was cold. Waitress reminded twice to bring back cutlery as everything got colder. Not many redeeming things about the experience. Can’t recommend.
Service was efficient and friendly. Kitchen was fun to watch - energy without drama. Food was well conceived and well executed - and delicious. Wonderful way to celebrate our 18th anniversary.
Perfect for Saturday and Sunday brunch. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a place to have a meal and a conversation.
Wonderful food and service! We tried the chefs tasting menu with wine pairings and were blown away
It was quiet, beautifully decorated for Christmas, real wood burning fire and the warm Kale salad was absolutely delicious!
This was our fourth time eating at Oxbow. It's always fantastic and is one of our favorite places to eat. Consider staying at the hotel and making a night of it.
My wife and I went to Oxbow for her birthday. We had made our reservation several weeks in advance, but did select a later reservation time of 8:30pm, as we have a young child and had to put them to bed so our parents would have not too much trouble looking after them. On arrival to the restaurant the wait staff was quite surprised about our reservation time and was reluctant to seat and serve us despite our reservation being made several weeks in advance. After seating us they promptly told us the kitchen closes at 9:00pm so we had to order quickly. Throughout the course of the meal we felt genuinely unwelcome in the restaurant to a degree that I have never experienced before in my many years in dining out not only in Canada but throughout the world. This was especially troublesome as it was my wife's birthday and we were looking forward to spending some quality time together. The food was good and the kitchen staff seemed more than accommodating about preparing our meal. The kitchen also managed to serve us dessert past the 9:00pm deadline, however the wait staff seemed genuinely uninterested in serving us and gave us the feeling that they would like us to leave as soon as possible. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless their service significantly changes. If they continue in this way I would be surprised to see them open in a year from now, as there are several better options in Calgary both for food and especially for service.
2 of us tried the Chef’s choice meal and it was fantastic! Food was delicious and beautifully presented. We did not feel rushed and service was excellent.
Amazing food. We did the chefs choice with wine pairings and were not disappointed. Our server was terrible but the manager made up for it.
Everything about this place is delightful. The ambiance, decor, service, food and atmosphere.
The ladies were very friendly and went out of their way to make our dinner enjoyable.
Food was great.
Great venue for an important business meeting. Easy to carry on a conversation. Very relaxing but professional atmosphere.
