For the 2020 season, we welcome back Chef Philip Guardione and his Sicilian kitchen, Piccola Cucina. Philip cooks authentic Sicilian food which is an amalgam of Italian cuisine influenced by all the cultures that found Sicily as their crossroads. Simple, fresh ingredients authentically prepared suit the local environment of Red Lodge.

At Ox Pasture X Piccolo Cucina, we are at the heart of Red Lodge’s artisan food scene, the locally raised world class beef is featured alongside produce and herbs raised in area farms. We work directly with the local farmers and ranchers to obtain the freshest and most seasonally appropriate ingredients.

I have never reviewed a restaurant prior to this, but it was the best Italian food I have ever had in the states. My husband is Italian and from NYC and I am from Chicago- we travel to Italy to visit his relatives yearly. This food rivals the food in Italy and the staff were attentive beyond words. What a gem! This is a must do in Red Lodge!

Disappointing all around. Purposely loud staff trying to create an unwanted, out of place vibe. Overpriced and under delivered. Poor, minimal wine selection. No cocktails. Goofy dance instigated by staff.

Absolutely the best food in a 500 mile radius. Everything about this place is welcoming: the staff, the owner, the food, the atmosphere, the seating. Every. Single. Thing. I would recommend them to every single person I know. If you want good food, which is hard to find in Montana and Wyoming, GO TO OX PASTURE.

Very fun! The food is delicious. Many of the servers are from Italy and spoke Italian throughout the evening. Service was great. It was the closest to eating in Europe experience but being in Red a Lodge. I am eager to return.

This is the most fun I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The people are WONDERFUL--you feel special as soon as you are greeted at the door. The food is outstanding. Everything arrived at a nice pace, hot, fresh and delicious. You just can't describe how it feels to be in this restaurant and taken care of by all the servers as if you are the most special guest in the place. Lively! Fun! Music! Dancing! Everyone around us was having as good of a time as we were! We try and go as often as possible and we have never had anything but the best experience.

I love this restaurant because the food is delicious and the staff treats everyone like family.

I have had a great experience all four times that I have eaten there. Thank you especially to Erika and Soumaya, you two add a lot to the experience of dining at Ox Pasture. See you all next year and thank you!!

The whole evening was enchanting. The food and staff outstanding! It reminded me of my days in Italy, the North End of Boston and NYC😊💕. Such a special treat to have such a lovely restaurant in the middle of Montana. Red Lodge is fortunate to have Piccola in the center of town. Definitely my favorite restaurant.

Our recent visit to Ox Pasture was our second. This time with 4 friends for a table of six. We were quickly seated and served our vino. This was a Thursday evening and we started at 5:30 and ordered by 6:00. We encountered a variety of waiters and waitresses, some of whom were good. The head waiter had the personality of a log stump. We were there only as an impediment to something else he wanted to do. The appetizer we chose was arancini, and they were excellent. I've eaten them in sicilia and these were a close approximation. Entrees were pasta alle vongole, alla Norma, and lasagna al ragu. These dishes were served in aluminum frying pans, no china tableware needed I guess. The dishes were very good but not outstanding. Contorni were spinaci steamed and sauteed. Desserts were ice cream, chocolate torta, and creme brulee. These were good, but $10 for a dish of ice cream seemed a bit steep. Six dinners with wine came to $360. Wine list was not extensive but definitely expensive. We've had better italian food in Montana, but Ox Pasture with Piccola Cucina was fun dining and we enjoyed it.

Beautiful place and friendly greeting! We had the octopus and meatballs (wonderful). The carbonara pasta was a little bland (maybe cook the bacon and make the sauce creamier). it was congenial and professional. The appetizers seemed the best part of the meal.

The hostess is the best part about this restaurant. Smart, energetic, vivacious and friendly, she greets everyone with gusto. The food is good for Red Lodge, but $20 for pasta is a bit much. I heard (but don't know) that the pasta was made in New York and sent frozen to Montana. How hard is it to make pasta? The shrimp in my pasta dish were tiny, tough and disappointing. Service varied from grudgingly adequate to obliviously detached. It's a "big city" restaurant in a small town, so folks go a little nuts for it. But when judged against counterparts in major metros, this little kitchen would not fare so well. Worth a visit, but know what you're getting into.

Professional service from the time you step through the door. We were greeted by Erika with great enthusiasm, and waited on by Nicholas who was superb. The menu will make your mouth water, and the presentation is delightful. Reasonably priced authentic Italian fare with amazing desserts, appetizers, and wine selections. We will be back to enjoy this restaurant again.

We were seated 1/2 later than our scheduled reservation time. The capresse salad had no basil although fresh basil would have been in order. The wine prices were sky high. My husband order lasagna with meat sauce yet there was no meat in the sauce. My spaghetti with white wine sauce was only ok. I had to request black pepper and grated cheese. I’m part Italian and had a mother and father-in laws who were Italian so I know authentic Italian food. I’ve also spent some time I. Italy. Believe me, this is not authentic Italian food.

Delicious Italian food! The fried zucchini was especially good and I am usually not fond of zucchini. The spaghetti cacio y pepe was served out of a 2 ft round of Parmesan. It was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the hostess/manager and the wait staff. I highly recommend this restaurant. We wish they were open all year

Great find ! The restaurant is only open in Red Lodge for 3 months in the summer. Their other restaurant is in SoHo. Fantastic Italian food. The wine list was a bit pricey. Exceptional and knowledgeable service.

Reservation was at 8:15. Not seated until 9:15 then rushed through everything. People arrived after us and were seated before us. This was a special night. Finally finished chemo and got my appetite back. Bill was $250. I dont blame the service as they were doing thier best. I blame management fir really ruining our night.

we had a reservation at 8. did not get seated until 8:30. that was incredibly annoying, but i understand things happen. Never really had a waiter either. just pulled employees walking by aside. Heard them sing happy birthday at least 5 times. which got a little annoying. food came out fast, which was nice. id go again. GET A RESERVATION EARLY.

The food and service are amazing. It’s nice to have food that you can’t find anywhere else in the area. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Six of us for a birthday celebration and everyone was pleased with there meal and dessert. We’ll be back.
