The restaurant features a vibrant, casual bar and dining area within a clean, warm space featuring wood floors, subway tile, zinc cladding, and industrial steampunk elements. The kitchen opens onto one of two dining rooms and the two-sided soapstone bar is built into the facade, serving 50 craft draft beers to a large bar area inside and a 60-seat beer garden outside.

Not all ingredients were in stock for the drink we selected
Four to five staff came to our table during dinner asking about various things related to our meal and drinks
The waiter was inefficient and did meet our requests for more water and other beverages
I understand the reason the prices are high, however as a patron I expect a high level of service and ambience when paying an absorbent amount for a burger and drink
Service was perfunctory. Wait staff was not particularly interested in customers. Food and drinks were mediocre and overpriced.
Nice place with decent food and great beer selection. Service was good. Inside dining is not great due to bad acoustics and music blasting. Hard to have a decent convo while there without having to yell at the person sitting next to you. Hope they can fix this.
The food here has taken a distinct downturn. Beer, wine, food-all over-priced and mediocre at best. Except for the pretzels. Charcuterie platter was sort of a joke and came with Texas toast that was hard as a rock. Mussels were served with the same bread, and the sauce was basically a whole lot of melted butter with half a lemon. The noise level was extremely high.
Would not go back.
Food was good but the portion was small. Service was average even though there were two waiters at our table.
We told our waiter WE ARE NOT IN A HURRY! No sooner had our appetizer arrived than another waiter is standing there with our main dishes. WE SHOOED HIM BACK TO THE KITCHEN! The toasts with the charcuterie were hard as rocks! My companion's grain salad was BLAND. It was pretty noisy. They advertise themselves as a beer lover's place. I'm inclined to agree.
Great tuna butger
The food was fine, the service was lacking. Wait staff needs to be more attentive to timing of courses and clearing off the table.
My friend and I tried out Owen's Ordinary for an early brunch. The food was good, but the portions felt unbalanced. My entree came with enormous side of home fries but a thimble of coffee. The menu would also benefit from lighter/sweeter options for those who aren't quite ready for a full lunch. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the DC area, and the atmosphere is quite cozy and nice.
Last night was the 3rd time we have eaten at Owen's Ordinary and will likely be the last. The service was horrible. At one point, we asked the waiter for more water. More than 10 minutes went by, so I waved at him and pointed to a water glass. He went over and picked up a water bottle and then went to another table and poured water and took their over. Another 5 minutes went by before he came to refill our water glasses. We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer and never got it. Our food arrived and the waiter came over to check on us and we told him we didn't get the calamari. He laughed and said he probably didn't even order it. The menu is quite small; only 4 real entree selections. Our food was good, but not great. Too many other restaurants in the area to go back for ok food and horrible service.
Overall good meal. French fries recipe must have been changed since our last visit...they were a bit too crunchy. The fondue was fun-the best dipping items were the bread and broccoli.
Food is overpriced - $18 for fish and chips is ridiculous for the small portion size. Service was lacking and confused. Beer was just ok. It could be a great place, but they're making unforced errors that I'm not sure they are capable of resolving.
They asked us to leave the dining room at 956p to ‘shift people to the bar’. Not ideal while we are still eating and drinking and enjoying quiet conversation. Server clueless and manager incrementally better. Won’t go back for a bar outing at all.
Great beer selection!
I've sat at the bar several times but have dined in twice. Both experiences were positive with no issues arising. Service was friendly and prompt, food was good, and the restaurant was clean.
Very cool spot all waiters had a quirky personality it was awesome.
Poor attention to customers. Salad came out with no tuna. Did not follow a food allergy order- had to send back. Charged us for the food we re-ordered In addition to what was sent back! Manager was nice and adjusted our tab but honestly would rather pay full price and have a perfect meal.
Kind of expensive but food and beer were tasty. Waiter wasn't great bit supporting staff and servers were. Not a wide variety of food but larger variety of micro brews on tap. Not easy to find in MoCo. Overall good experience, can eat outside or at the bar as well.
We had the burger with fries. Both excellent. My only complaint is that the party next to us (this was outdoor seating) allowed their dog to place its paws on the table top and was begging for food from the table. This should not be permitted but no restaurant employee stepped in to stop it.
Rude hostess. Greasy, under-seasoned food. Fairly limited beer style selection. Very disappointing.
For a place that takes reservations for table for dinner, they don't have much to offer for dinner. They have 4 entrees to choose from, or burgers. They have more appetizers than main course meals. They have way more drinks than food.
Is the place bad, no. But if you want food, this is not really the place to go. If you want drinks with some snacks, this is a decent place.
Of what we got, it was decent. Fish and Chips was $18, but you got one piece of fish and a small thing of fries. It was more of an appetizer than anything else, however, the fries that came with it were really good. That was one of the four entrees available. Burger was decent, but nothing really spectacular. Steak Tartare was okay but the chips that came with it were a little stale. The fondue was good, but for $16.00, it came out in a small rim. For the same price at the Melting Pot, you'd get probably twice as much fondue of the same quality. Plus, they would have made it in front of you.
Bottom line, this place tries to be something it isn't. Its a bar that's trying to be a gastropub and failing. Go here for drinks and maybe happy hour. Don't go here for dinner.
Food is always great but the service at the bar was excellent this time! Love this place
This was our 3rd time dining there. Food is good but the service was not tonight. Our waiter seemed very inexperienced on every level and never asked how meals were. Slow service with drinks. Appetizer arrived after main meals. Empty Food plates were not cleared. Wrong check arrived when it was time to pay. The person who filled up water was the most attentive. Make her the waitress! Too bad. I hope it was an off night but probably won’t go back anytime soon to find out.
My son has many food allergies. The waiter told us he has a lot of allergies too, and he helped us find food options that were safe. We were able to relax and enjoy a great meal.
Disappointed about a change in menu which apparently accompanied a change in chefs.
With a reservation we were seated in the bar. The food was mediocre at best.
Service was very strange- not organized at all. Waiters kept asking us the same questions over and over.
There was no room at the table between your body and the table. The table was way too close.
I had a birthday brunch here when they first opened but they no longer offer it. It was a great brunch. It can get noisy but the food is good and the drink menu seems endless. Good eats!!
go for the beer and the small plates. The burger was just ok, not cooked to order. Fish and chips portion was weak, though nicely done.
Food wasn’t great. Fries over cooked. Fish tacos undercooked. Caesar salad came undressed.
Ordered 3 burgers cooked medium. They came out rare. We sent them back to be cooked a couple more minutes. The waiter says he put 3 new burgers on to be cooked, we waited a VERY long time for them. They came back cooked beyond well done. Very disappointing
Food ranged from excellent to good depending on your choices. Salads were quite good; burgers fair; other sandwiches excellent. People were very friendly and accommodating—they were short staffed that night. Beer selection is exceptional and the wait staff is very knowledgeable about the many options.
Great beer selection and nice outdoor patio. The food was just okay but a nice place to have some interesting beers.
Food was good and beer selection and service first rate.
Owen's Ordinary was anything but ordinary! We dined there for my birthday brunch and the food was top notch. It was also really well priced. Will be back for sure.
Food was good - not great but not bad either. Waitress did ask me how I wanted my turkey burger cooked - I thought that odd that she didn't know that it needed to be cooked and not medium rare. Beer selection was great for those that drink beer. Margarita was ok - the mix was pretty strong though. Dessert was very good. Service was good - again not great but not terrible either. We'd go back if we were in the area but it would not be a first choice.
Amazing assortment of beers, although bottled beers were really pricey. First time here, and food was better than expected. Will we return? Only if we are looking for lots of amazing beer. Too noisy, which is to be expected.
Our experience was great
Owen’s Ordinary might be perfect for you if you like greasy pub food - I do not. The beer selection is exceptional, however. The noise level is high.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch. Pacing of the meal was atrocious. Lots of menu items not available or limited in availability. Great beer selection. Good execution on the food that was available.
