The restaurant features a vibrant, casual bar and dining area within a clean, warm space featuring wood floors, subway tile, zinc cladding, and industrial steampunk elements. The kitchen opens onto one of two dining rooms and the two-sided soapstone bar is built into the facade, serving 50 craft draft beers to a large bar area inside and a 60-seat beer garden outside.
We have been coming to Owen’s for several years and are never disappointed. The service is always -while casuals- amazing, and the food excellent. The beer selection is pretty awesome, even the non-alcoholic beer selection was impressive. Who knew that was event possible?! (Pregnant friend at the table)
Great meal - great service!!
Everything was great except the food some of us ordered. The burgers were overcooked, the ancient grain salad was horrible. There was very little quinoa only kale covered in tasteless green goddess dressing. Even when I asked for salt and pepper it didn't help. I was very disappointed in the food, however, the service, and ambiance was great. I might think twice about going back.
I think this must be a better place for drinks than food. The pretzel was good, flatbreads were fine, the veggie burger was awful - mushy and flavorless. We were there at 4 on Mother's Day and were told we couldn't order off the dinner menu, which started at 5. I get that on an ordinary day, but would have been nice on Mother's Day that dinner would be an option. Waitress was chatting with another table. Service was so-so. Wouldn't recommend.
Our large party -- 10 people -- was treated wonderfully!! Drinks and appetizers promptly served (my only quibble -- fondue wasn't quite worth it). Great beer selection, thick juicy burgers, fun atmosphere, attentive staff -- terrific waiter--made our friends gathering!
Burger was nothing to write home about. Disappointing. Looked nice. Cheese was not melted which made the sandwich difficult to control. Insides kept sliding out! Grilled? Not good. Not enough meat. Not fresh meat!
Had Sunday brunch with my family. Food was good and they had a kids menu as well. Service was a bit choppy but overall a good experience!
Service was outstanding. Multiple servers making sure we were happy at all times. Lovely evening sitting outside enjoying the ambience of the area. I have a very specific drink order. I can usually tell the quality of the wait staff if they are good listeners or not when the drink is served. They brought it to me exactly as I requested. That set the evening up nicely. Good job!
The service was exceptionally poor. We were seated without being given menus, and since no server greeted us within several minutes I went to find a menu on my own. My daughters kid’s menu came after about 15 minutes. Once we finally got a server and ordered, it took forever to get our two beers, and my kids never even got their drinks. We had to go to the bar ourselves to get their Sprite (after the food arrived) and the server never apologized - but did seem quite confused when he walked by and saw them on the table. He never once asked how our food was. I had to stop him to ask for the check. We had planned to order another round of drinks, but would have been there all night if we had...
Redemption! When my husband and I went the first time, there was a beer event which made the restaurant and bar overcrowded and they were grossly understaffed. I let Brian (manager) know of the bad experience in a written review, and he let us know that, should we come back, he would ensure we had a better experience. Well, he did not disappoint! From arrival to departure, we were treated exceptionally well. Brian even came over to visit a few times to make sure we had a pleasant experience. From the service to the salad, burger and the beer, everything was terrific. We will definitely be back! Thanks, Brian for making loyal customers out of us!
We have been to Owen’s Ordinary before and enjoyed it. Not sure if it’s because it was Easter, but we had a reservation for 6, 4 adults and 2 kids. Our table was not ready when we arrived. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. They had little Easter eggs all over the place and were decorated for Easter which my girls loved. They seemed to be short staffed. A manager took our drink order after 15 minutes and we waited for someone to take our food order. After another 10 minutes went by, we still had no drinks, no food order taken, and two hungry kids. We stopped a server who explained that our server was busy, but he would pass the order along. He did and our food came out about 20 minutes later. The food was great, despite a cold pretzel that they pushed out because the kids were hungry. Our server finally came by at the end of our meal and shared that he was busy. Again, we have had enjoyable meals here before. Pretty sure the holiday impacted how many servers were available.
Great local restaurant with a large beer menu and the food was very good. We will definitely return.
The food was good and the atmosphere quite nice. Two of our burgers were not prepared as requested. Unfortunately our waitress refused to split the check for our party of 8 despite agreeing to do so before we ordered. It took more than 20 minutes to settle the check and we were required to pay a 20% gratuity. Disappointing end to an otherwise decent meal.
We love Owen’s - outdoor seating, relaxed vibe, good food and great drinks. But the service during our last visit was lacking. Our server took a long time to get to us each round and it made for a less than optimal experience. We’ve had this server before, and she was similarly lackluster. We will come back but we will ask not to be seated in her section the next time.
This restaurant has been somewhat of a rollercoaster as we’ve had okay service, excellent service, poor service (we didn’t go back for a good, long time after that episode). But after a good year or so, we decided to try it again for the fondue which I love. This was a surprise evening because we had so much going on, we didn’t think we’d be able to make it out. We did eventually get out albeit on the late side. Shortly after being seated, we placed our order. I went there specifically for the fondue (note to restaurant: get some Kirschwasser, and offer a shot with the fondue, I promise it would improve it immensely). At any rate, after ordering, the server says “oh, the kitchen just closed and we have a limited menu!” My husband says: “but we came here just for the fondue.” As we contemplate going elsewhere, the server/bartender says “Hold on, let me go talk with my manager to see what we can do.” We were certain that we were heading somewhere else, but lo and behold, the server/bartender, manager, & kitchen staff come through for us! This is the kind of service that generates tremendous loyalty, high tips, not to mention tons of happy reviews, and recommendations (and I have a very big mouth). Needless to say, we’ll be heading back for the fondue and superb service again soon! Honestly, you really cannot have one without the other...
Generally positive but server greeted us with how tired she felt and hesitated to serve coffee because a pot neede to be brewed and did not give us separate checks as requested.
The food was terrible. Wings were good, pretzel was good (dipping sauce was NOT). My beet salad was a pile of greens, hardly dressed, over some beets and goat cheese that was worse than a laughing cow triangle. My husbands burger came out with a cold bun and his cheese wasn’t even melted. GROSS! Waiter refunded us those items, so that was nice. Anyways- go for a beer, SKIP THE FOOD
Great beer options. Food was fantastic. Service was a little slow.
Service was slow. Hard to get your next beer with our waiter. Food was good but salmon size is the smallest I have seen for the price point. Also, my beers tasted flat compared to my bf’s. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful location for an outside dinner.
I went for brunch with friends. The prices are reasonable. Mimosas were great! And the food was good. It was a beautiful day so we got to sit in the outdoor patio area and it was really nice. The only negative was that our server was a little slow and didn't check on us as often as we would have like. He kind of rushed us to pay the bill because he was going on his break. Also, when he brought us the check, he told us (in a joking but serious way) to tip in cash. Which I thought was a little unprofessional. But overall, I had a good experience and would definitely go back.
Good snacks and apps, flatbreads, and queso. Drinks were good as well. Main dish was really not my thing at all and I think it was described much much differently that it arrived on the plate. Would likely not order an entrée again.
We made a reservation for Friday night. When we were seated, we were not waited on or even greeted after 15 minutes. We got up after getting no kind of service and left to find another place to have dinner.
Even with a reservation, we were still not able to get service from any of the staff.
It was ok. Yes, the hosts were lovely when we walked in. However, once we were seated, it took forever for a server to come to our table. At least take our drink orders! My parents were visiting so it took my mom loudly stating "Wow! Where's our waiter?" as the host walked by to have someone come take our drinks orders. Ugh. I was embarrassed because I picked the restaurant. We were finally served beers and put our apps in. I then had the best salad of my life so that was something! Beets, goat cheese and salmon cooked medium/rare. It was delicious. There was a group of Happy Hour folks over in the corner who were incredibly loud so that was distracting. All in all, the food was good, it was too loud and I should've picked another place since my parents were visiting and I wanted everything to be perfect for them. So, it's a mixed review .....
Good food. Amazing beer list! Nice ambience. Poor service.
It could have been a great experience, but service was lackluster. Our server was downright rude.
Perhaps she was having a bad day. So, will probably give this spot another shot.
To start with the fish and chips, very big disappointment, the grain bowl was not fresh. Service was very slow.
The mussels, salads and drinks were very good. My salmon was very undercooked and needed to be sent back. Burger and fries also very good. Crispy shrimp sliders were good but had too much sauce. The service was just awful. Took 20 min for someone to come greet our table and take drink orders and that was after we asked another waiter to send our waiter over. Took another 20 min for drinks to come and for waiter to take our dinner order and then starters and dinner came at nearly the same time! Then waiter wanted to clear our plates while we were still eating and drop our check (with no pen for signing). I write this detailed review because there were a lot of positives and I am hoping they will take care of the missteps.
We made our reservation on Open Table then received a email saying we did not show for our reservation not only were we there 15 mins early we spent a lot of money that was not worth it this is not the first time something went wrong with this place!! we will not be returning!!!
Owen’s has an incredible selection of both beer and food! Could not recommend more.
Large beer and food menu. Perhaps too much to be really good at everything. However, food was good across the board, and beer options were plentiful.
Loved our server; made us fell like valued “clients”!
Love this place for consistently great food and beer selection! Service is always very friendly and helpful. It's a bit noisy, so not a place to go for quiet conversation.
The food is great, fresh and delicious flavor. Our waiter was very helpful for making choices.
The food was really expensive for the quality. Fondue was bland. Salad was bland. Mixed drinks were chemically tasting. My husband liked his beer but commented that you could go to a pricey restaurant for the same money and find much better food.
This was our first time here. The restaurant was overly crowded and understaffed. The guy at the front was great and somehow managed to get us a table within 15 minutes of our arrival. (But he forgot to check me in on OpenTable! 😁Something that we rectified easily enough.) Our waitress was overwhelmed when we got there as many of her tables were either lingering and ordering more drinks, or paying their very complicated tabs. We waited quite some time for her to take our drink order. Overall, the service was bad, but the beer and food were delicious! We each ordered a burger: one vegan, the other an actual burger, and both were actually worth the wait. We will be back. Maybe on a weekday during lunch... 😁
We had a reservation though OpenTable and arrived on time. We waited 12 minutes at the host stand without being greeted or seated. We left due to this disrespect for us and our time.
There were several groups waiting and in 12 minutes only a single server came by the host stand but oddly didn't say a word and immediately left. No restaurant should leave the host stand unattended for that long on a Friday night. We won't be back.
Waited over an hour to be seated and we had a reservation. Once seated took over 15 mins to get a waiter. We received free apps and drinks after complaining and the manager got involved. Too little too late
Waited an hour for table even though made reservations
Very enjoyable evening. Service was top notch. Loved the flatbread pizza. Went for a craft beer event they were holding. The event was handled very well. We will return when in the area.
Service was below average, especially considering restaurant was empty.
