The restaurant features a vibrant, casual bar and dining area within a clean, warm space featuring wood floors, subway tile, zinc cladding, and industrial steampunk elements. The kitchen opens onto one of two dining rooms and the two-sided soapstone bar is built into the facade, serving 50 craft draft beers to a large bar area inside and a 60-seat beer garden outside.
Best salmon dish I’ve had in a very long time. Wonderful server who worked hard to keep us happy. Beautiful night outside. Hit all the right notes.
Fun energetic gastro-pub style destination with excellent burgers and starters. The large variety of beers on tap is the major draw. Busy on weekends and later on weeknights. Bar area with tables is separate from main dining room. Parking free in garages nearby for 2 hours. Reservations recommended.
Worst experience we have had. Our waiter really made it obvious he wanted to be behind the bar and not helping us at our table- even though there were only 2 people at the bar and 1 other table with customers. We waited 40 minutes for salads, asked multiple times for water and drink refills which never came. Paid $3 for an iced tea that was 75% ice and never even got a refill!!! Salad was ok, chicken was dry, plate was badly chipped. Told the waiter and he just shrugged. Could’ve had better food and service at home.
Great combination of outdoor seating, service windows, and tasting-size beer. A fun outing.
Enjoyed the food. Server was great. We ate outside which was nice so that we can watch the happenings around us. We will come back again
Underwhelming service. We ordered fondue and they decided to give up attempting to light it after about 2 attempts. It was called "beer cheese" but you couldn't taste any beer in it. Overpriced and server was very out of it.
Came here with friends, we had been here before. We were there early on a Saturday night. We received a friendly greeting from host staff and waitress. My wife had a salad but 3 of us had the Angus burger which was very good. I did not like the iced tea and the waitress said she would get me a different drink. I was fine with water. This is a nice place which has both indoor and outdoor seating and a parking lot next door. We would come back.
server was fair, beer selection superb, food selection better than average. Good vegan burger, for real.
Family in from out of town.
Our server, David, was splendid! He explained everything that we were not familiar with and not snooty about it. Th food and drinks especially the lime margaritas. Muy bien!!!
Great food and service. The temperature inside was a little high for us, but then we visited on probably the hottest day this summer.
I do wish I wasn't pregnant so I could've partaken in the bottomless mimosas. I would not really recommend this place unless you want to go get a pretzel (which was yummy but expensive) and or some drinks. This place could also be good if you really like breakfast. To be fair, we did not stay till 5, so maybe their dinner is yummy too. Also, the bar area is SUPER hot, like uncomfortably hot, for being inside, and right next to the dining area that is much cooler.
Great beer selection. Mediocre food and average service in a really noisy environment.
I went for a Friday lunch and the place was pretty empty, but we still had to wait to be seated. They got my order wrong, and although the fried chicken was crunchy, the fries were soggy. Also, the AC was dripping on us, so we had to move our seats. I won't go back.
I really wanted to like Owen's Ordinary since some friends and I have been looking for a new place to get together in the area. Unfortunately I don't know that this will be it. To be fair, I probably will come back at least once to see if things are different with a second visit. If they are I'll be sure to say so, but first impressions as follows:
First or all, it was just too loud in the dining room to have a comfortable conversation.
Moving on to drinks, I know it's a "beer place" but they do have a fairly interesting cocktail menu which is much more my thing and part of what attracted me. The Oaxaca Old Fashioned was very tasty, but would have benefited from getting to the table before the ice cube was half melted. It seemed like we had multiple servers, but not intentionally, more like there was confusion as to whose table we were. That may have played into things?
For food, my burger was fine and happily cooked as ordered, but nothing special. No real flavor beyond the sauce. My friend's tuna burger was similarly OK, but nothing to bring you back.
By the time we finished eating, the dining room was half empty and it was much easier to chat so we ordered another round (which got to us before the ice was melted) and then closed out when those were done.
Always a great time Britni and Zac took wonderful care of us.
Owens O was a fun upbeat atmosphere
Service was great
Everyone’s food was very good
And they have a fabulous variety of beers on tap to try
Great selection of beers, and the servers know about each.
The food, drinks and environment were wonderful! However, the service was terrible and for that reason alone I would not return or recommend Owen's Ordinary. We were a large group (7 people), and at various points during our time there, our server would flat out ignore us walking by our table and not even stopping. When this happened for the last time and we sat there with empty plates, drinks and no check, I waited 20 minutes before finally getting up and going to the hostess desk to ask for our check. Service makes all the difference, and I can't recommend a place that would treat guests so poorly (especially since we had to pay an automatic 20% gratuity!).
There were flies everywhere and it was dead.
First time at Owen's. The food was very good but the server did not have much of a personality, which can change the entire dining experience. That is why I only gave Owen's 4 stars instead of 5.
Great food...cool, funky spot inside and outside. I’m not a big beer drinker and that is their forte, wine and alcohol selections stand strong too. Love this place.
Fantastic selection of Maryland craft brews! We tried the pretzel with beer cheese and dry rub wings to start, and greatly enjoyed both. My husband ordered the fish and chips, while I went for the weekly special, a fried chicken sandwich, and upgraded the side salad with it to their beet salad, which was the BEST upgrade of 2019 thus far - utterly delicious.
The service was incredibly slow, and the food was sub par. They did however have a very extensive beer list that was intriguing but did not want beer at the time.
Restaurant has very good food and nice environment; however, service is mixed. Sometimes there have been great waiters and other times waiters will ignore you and focus on other guests.
Brian, the GM, was very attentive with our party and willing to accommodate to my very opinionated group. He was a pleasure to work with and definitely made my life easier when planning.
Amazing experience. The Nachos were good. the Sangria was amazing
The food was wonderful, the service was decent, the restaurant was cute! Great HH, especially on Monday because it runs all night. Great place for a meetup with friends, to grab dinner or hang at the bar. Free 2 hours parking in Pike & Rose as well!
The dining room was too cold, but the bar area was warmer as the windows were open to the outside on a beautiful night. My salad was fine and I added portobello mushroom to it — it seemed a little pricey at $19.50 though. I would have liked a few more of the add-ins relative to the greens.
Food was delicious, though I thought the serving size were a bit small for the price. Extensive beer list on draft gives you a lot of new beers to taste!
It was a beautiful evening and they were so nice to hold our request for an outside table. The food and service were fantastic, will be back.
the biggest problem is that there was barely any seasoning in the food it felt like i was in the medieval times where the only seasoning was salt but did owens ordinary even put salt? no. please put salt at the very least. the people were delightful though but the food is the staple to a restaurant, if it sucks it doesn’t matter how jolly the servers are.
This remains our go-to place for great beer and good food. Waitstaff is efficient and knowledgeable. Love the draft list as well as the cocktails... but what keeps me coming back is the Vegan burger. Yum!
Lived up to its name in some ways. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Found the beer selection lacking in ales and lagers.
Food was ordinary bar food, nothing special.
Tried the Crisy Shrimp for the first time. IM IN LOVE WITH THEM. Who ever created the Tropical Melon Sangria is a genius
Our first time here. Terrible. The place was dirty. The food was bad. There was food spilled on the floor by tables that were empty and we watched the staff pass it numerous times without cleaning it up for at least 25 minutes. Someone could have slipped and injured themselves. Server was not very professional and seemed to just want to finish her shift. The food was not good, specially for the price. The burger was dry, the fish and chips had so much breading which was very soggy ( we told the server to inform the cook but she did seem to have done that), the pork belly skin was chewy instead of crispy, the seared tuna was over cooked. It was supposed to be a special evening that was less than perfect due to the food. Never going back.
Good outdoor space, great beer selection.
Would like to see a gluten free bun!
We have been coming to Owen’s for several years and are never disappointed. The service is always -while casuals- amazing, and the food excellent. The beer selection is pretty awesome, even the non-alcoholic beer selection was impressive. Who knew that was event possible?! (Pregnant friend at the table)
Great meal - great service!!
