Owen's Ordinary
The restaurant features a vibrant, casual bar and dining area within a clean, warm space featuring wood floors, subway tile, zinc cladding, and industrial steampunk elements. The kitchen opens onto one of two dining rooms and the two-sided soapstone bar is built into the facade, serving 50 craft draft beers to a large bar area inside and a 60-seat beer garden outside.

We were a bit disappointed with the limited beer menu but overall we were happy with the beer we chose and the food was very good.
It’s our favorite spot; we’re regulars! We are so glad indoor dining has opened again!
Heaters made the cold alley bearable. Wish the TVs were more visible from the outside. Nonetheless, had a good time. Oh and wish mimosas were bottomless.
Nice warm, heated, outside seating. Ordering from the table through an app. Disposable dinnerware. Very friendly staff. Felt safe.
Great time! Good service!
My best and I haven’t seeen each other for almost 10 months since the pandemic happened it was both our first times out together
Th appetizers here are never good, and the service is extremely slow. We all loved our entrees, but unfortunately we were then served stale coffee.
Poor food quality and overall disappointed.
Enjoyed our food and service. Great for groups.
This was our first visit and we really enjoyed the experience. Fabulous beer selection and the food really complimented the beer. Out waiter was excellent and really helped us sort through the beers quickly. Very attentive service overall. Space is divided up noise level was fine for talking. A nice addition to Rockville
The quinoa salad for $21 was a joke . There was no flavor to the dressing and the portion was very small . No wonder why it was empty for lunch . Do not eat here unless you like getting ripped off
This was a fantastic place to hold an event. We had exceptional service - everyone went above and beyond.
It was my first time there, and I liked it a lot. The staff was awesome
Parking was absolutely awful - enough to keep us away unfortuntely.
My husband and I wasted our Vanentines night here! The service was horrible! Our waiter never checked on us. They didn’t refill waiter. Our food was cold. The waiter made some tent at the table to make the fondue work. My steak was way under cooked. We spent over two hour mostly waiting for food to come. Our apps came one hour after we sat down. The manger comped a big part of the bill. But what a loss!
Hello Mrs. Ware- again totally understand your disappointment. We are extremely disappointed as well that we let you down on such a special night. It was definitely not a typical Owen's experience and so as we discussed, we do hope you give us another chance, especially joining us on our beer garden once things warm up. Would love to do everything we can to regain your confidence and get you back on the right track with us.
We love Owen's because you can get 4 oz. glasses of beer. This allows you to sample a variety and helps you identify a new favorite. The staff is always very knowledgeable and friendly. They seem like they enjoy working there.
The food was good, but the entree portion sizes were much too small. They were plated as if part of a tasting menu but were intended as stand alone entrees, particularly the salmon.
Solid place
Enjoyed the great beer selection. Food options were decent for a pub-style restaurant. The quality of the food was very high, the portions were a little small for the price, IMO. Definitely was on the loud side, but that didn’t bother us.
Good food in a good environment. The ancient grains bowl was really good.
The only thing worse than the value was the service. The place is extremely loud. We had a large group of 11. It took for ever to get any portion of our orders and everytime at least one person did not get their order with another 15 minute wait for it to finally arrive. This was with drinks, appetizers and the main course. Their prices are at least 25% higher than what you would consider the upper range of what they offer and the food is mediocre at best. After a frustrating 2 hours and 45 minutes they have the audacity of adding 20% as a tip. I understand having the add-on for large groups, but grabbing 20% leaves no incentive to provide good service. %550 for 5 adults (8 drinks total), six middle schoolers. I will never return. You will never go if you are smart.
Our server Juanita was honestly the best server I’ve ever had. I eat out a lot and very seldom remember my servers, but I remember her. I had her once before and she so obviously remembered me and was so so so personable and sociable and likable, I will request her every single time I come. Both my boyfriend and I ADORED her. Truly the best server I’ve ever had!
Thanks Jasmine for the incredibly sweet note, That is so amazing to read! We will certainly share with Juanita and our entire team. So glad you felt so taken care of and hope you can join us again soon- I'm sure Juanita will be delighted to see you again- Cheers!
Excellent food. Loved the turkey burger and cinnamon bun waffle with banana ice creat- delish! Also loved the great beer selection- 4 oz flights available at reasonable price.
So glad you enjoyed- thanks for review and hope to see you again soon. Cheers!
Our waitress was nice, but didn't check on us very often. The food busser took our food to the wrong people then walked past us back to kitchen to figure out where it went. I ended up waiving him over. I saw that happen a few times. The fish and chips was a good size, but too bland. The Salmon was cooked absolutely perfectly, but was also bland. We ordered the Calamari. It was decent but there were more pepper rings the calamari. Fondue was really a treat. They also didn't have lemon with it. Strangely, they also didn't have salt n pepper shakers on tables. The drink were really well made and tastey. They also don't skimp. They use oversize shot glasses for straight alcohol and give the wine with more then normal. Go there for drinks and fondue or wings and you will be happy. Dinner will just be ok.
Food was good. Server was friendly and helpful, but sometimes a bit hard to find.
Enjoyed the salad and beers.
Hi Bob, Glad you enjoyed your visit and thanks for the feedback - Appreciate it and have shared it with our service team. Hopefully you will notice a difference on your next visit. Cheers!
We got our appetizer AFTER our dinner. No apology from the server. Just an ok experience
Location is good. Parking a pain, no parking validation.
We had a group of 12 and they were very accommodating. Great table, our server was willing set up separate checks by starting tabs for each of us, food was amazing, and the beer list cannot be beat.
Kind of, well, ordinary. Half Chicken and mussels were decent, but cheddar and beer fondue was disappointing (especially the bread - cut up baguettes would have been far better than the included semi-stale raisin bread), the tuna burger overcooked, and the curry potatoes utterly flavorless. Service was a little spotty as well - no plates brought for the fondue until we were mostly done and no spoon for the mussels (for the broth) until we asked.
Great place to try new beer. The fondue was ok but you have to eat it fast or it'll solidify. My wife and I enjoyed the fish n chips. I had the salmon (catch of the day) and cauliflower sprinkled potatoes. We both enjoyed that as well.
Went there for New Years Eve. Service was outstanding. Food was just Ok. Great selection of Beer. I would go again just for the Beer and Wings. Bar scene
We brought our two daughters, both under the age of five, for an early New Years Eve dinner. The staff were very attentive and accommodating and the food was excellent, especially the NY strip steak and angus burger. And of course the beer selection is world class.
Great service, interesting menu with a lot of choices. Pork sausage needed more seasoning— tasted almost like a beef burger patty. Great Bloody Mary!
This was our second trip to Owen's Ordinary, and it did not live up to our memories. Food was bland, and not worth the prices. The extensive beer list does not make up for a subpar kitchen.
Used to really enjoy coming here but recent experience was lackluster. Beers are always good but food was fairly bland and service was really slow.
We have eaten at Owens Ordinary on a number of occasions, especially over the summer. Saturday night was disappointing, the service was slow, menu items unavailable and ultimately our whole snapper turned up late (after other meals) and under cooked (sent back to kitchen). The burgers were over cooked.
Felt rushed by the waitress. Good salad and decent burger. Nice beer selection.
3rd strike.......I don't understand why they can't get better waitstaff. We waited at the front door for 10 minutes with no one at the front desk and only 1 table of customers in the whole restaurant. We walked in to the main area and seated ourselves. The only waitress was leaning against the counter playing on her cell phone. Totally ignored us for 5 minutes while she finished playing on her phone. After taking our order, we waited for 20 minutes to get just a pretzel! Got our food order wrong, we got up and grabbed the water to refill our own drinks and then had to flag her down to get our check. One waitress for the entire restaurant? Maybe if she was a great waitress but haven't seen a single great waitstaff member there in a very long time. Although the food is good, my co-workers and I can't get over the horrible service.
Cool place to eat or just have beer. Great local beer selections. Fish and Chips, and burger were excellent. Had some beer tastings. Great vibe to the place. Our first dining in the area, and it was a great choice.
Cheers William! So glad you enjoyed and hope you can join us again soon. Thanks for the review!
Ordinary is about right. To start, after having had a reservation for at least a few days we were seated right next to the kitchen in a half empty dining room. They moved us when we asked.
We ordered three appetizers and indicated that we wanted the fondue first as the actual appetizer and the other two to follow. Everything was delivered at once which really ruined our plan and crowded our table.
Calamari looked promising at first but a high proportion of the dish was actually breaded deep fried lemons rather than calamari.
Fondue (classic) arrived cold and the dippers were about as plain and simple as you could imagine. Fondue itself really needed salt or flavor. Took a long time to heat up with the candle.
Caesar salad was okay not memorable.
Took a long time for drinks to arrive and we had to ask for tea refills.
The manager asked how things were and we were pleasant but honest. He took some off our bill which was nice and appropriate. I think we won’t go back again though.
