Great ambient, good food taste,
Our second time at Overture. Food and service is excellent. One of our favorite restaurants in Sarasota.
Pasta was awful, tasted like it was microwaved, couldn’t eat it! Salmon was mediocre, the only thing that was pretty good was the $18.00 hamburger. Don’t think we will be coming back until you get a new chef!
Food was outstanding and waitress was wonderful.
We will be back again.
Service was super slow. They got our order almost 100% wrong and even missed one of our meals completely. I don’t think she was even paying attention when we ordered.
Waitress was just wonderful. She made the evening for us. Also helped that the food was delicious.
Service was very, very, very slow and we were a party of 5 in the restaurant which had 20 or less total patrons. Then 2 of us didn't even finish our meals because they simply weren't that good. Overall, our feeling was that there are so many other better places to eat downtown, which is a shame because we really wanted to like this venue since it is so close to Florida Studio Theater.
The burrata and prosciutto appetizer was excellent - top quality! The main course of salmon was fine once the skin was removed. The dessert of fried doughnut holes with chocolate dipping sauce was tasty and fun - not the ley lime pie that was advertised, but it was fine. The service was just right - not to much waiting, not hovering. We requested outdoor seating. The breeze was perfect, the noise level (except for the occasional motorcycle) was peaceful. Inside, however, the noise level was high, even though it wasn't crowded, possibly a result of the acoustical design. We had been told over the phone that the tasting menu was available at the rooftop bar, but that was not correct. The rooftop bar has a very limited menu, and, actually, the views left a lot to be desired. However, the ground-level outdoor seating was lovely with that gentle breeze.
The food was better than we expected. Service was very good. We ate outside and it was quiet and lovely. We would definitely go again!
Best Cosmo in Years!
Food mediocre at best. Slow but very friendly service. However very nice ambiance.
Our evening at the Overture was lovely. I had the Salmon over quinoa with spinach, and it was delicious! Salmon melted in your mouth, spinach was perfect - the whole plate worked so well together in terms of flavor and appearance. Hubby had Penne Bolognese, which was also very tasty - the bread served with it, lightly toasted, was perfect. We shared a bottle of the Carmel Road Cab which was excellent - very smooth and delicious right out of the bottle (no need to decant this one!)
The service could not have been better! The staff was attentive without being intrusive. We were not rushed. All in all, we had a wonderful evening. Would definitely recommend.
All 3 times we have given Art Ovation a try have been disappointing. It’s always the service. Twice we have tried brunch on the patio on palm and the food was good but between not having an outdoor table we reserved in advance, to having to wait 10 minutes after our coffee was served to get silverware, to trying to convince the “breakfast chef” not to leave since we reserved for brunch...all of it has been a struggle. Music is good. We like the atmosphere, location, restrooms and even the food. However as locals who dine out a lot we will likely not attempt a 4th time. The guests staying at the hotel who were waiting 10 minutes at the hostess stand just to be acknowledged were not impressed either.
Had to wait almost 30 minutes after scheduled reservation to be seated. Host and manager were trying to be accommodating but service was slow and could use improvements. Food was very good. Mother’s Day buffet had a lot of variety. Restaurant and hotel are very clean and nice ambiance.
We went for a the Mother’s Day brunch r&B live band. We arrived about 5 minutes late and were seated with in 10 minutes of arrival. Was disappointed that the live band was in a completely separate area from the brunch so we could barely hear it but it was ok. We both had filled our plates from the Buffett and sat back down (the egg station was fantastic, she did a good job). My husband had to get up and chase down a waiter to get someone to take our drink orders. They seemed to be short staffed with managers bussing tables and bringing drinks out also, considering the times we understood. The Buffett food was good but the biscuits had a bit to be desired (kind of hard and old like) & there was no other bread station. There was a nice carving station with turkey and roast beef(we didn’t partake in this but it looked good).
The shrimp cocktail was delicious as was the bacon. The deserts were a bit flavorless but all very creamy/cheesecake-ish which is not our style anyway, so not a big deal. The complimentary mimosas for Moms were good with the right portion of oj vs champagne. The overture hotel with art was very nice to walk around and view after we ate. We would overall go again and hope better service is available.
Interesting evening. Hotel lives up to its Art name. Food was Cuban and dry. Presentation was so-so. Wine list is disappointing. They now have a “regular” menu in addition to the Cuban menu. Avoid the whole bass on Cuban menu.
The food was good, the ambiance fine but the music from the bar was too loud. We had to wait 30+ minutes to get our drink order in. The waitress was pleasant, however she was the only waitress working when we got there and was servicing the inside dining room as well as outside diners. The drink system was inadequate the waitress sent the order to the bar electronically and they were to deliver it . We asked the hostess for help and she went to the bar to retrieve our drinks. The waitress then ,on her own, went and got the wine bottles and furnished us from there on. This young woman was good. We like to go there when we go to Florida Studio Theater. I am not sure we will be back.
Small menu which wasn’t really to my taste, although everything was well-prepared. Our serve could have been better, we had some weird responses from her that came across as rude. Seating was outside just above street level, and tables were separated well for COVID precautions. Despite being basically street level it was quiet enough to hold a conversation.
Enjoyed the current Cuban themed menu! We were sitting outside along Palm Ave., pretty far from the kitchen, but the service was still very good! Easy to recommend!
We have eaten here before, but we’re quite disappointed this time. They were understaffed & service was not good. Many tables sat with dirty dishes long after people left. For Easter Sunday brunch, I thought they would have been more prepared.
Our rating in no way reflects the waitress’s or the host’s valiant attempts to provide service. Our impression was that they were left blowing in the wind with no support to give good service. We waited one and 1/2 hours for our entrees. The waitress actually came by asking us if we wanted our check as she had not realized that we never received our entrees although appetizers had been brought out by other personnel. She had a look of shock when we told her. We felt very bad for the waitress as she was the only one working the entire restaurant’s multiple tables including a party of 8. The hostess was trying to help her out but had been told to not leave her post. I walked around to see who was available in the restaurant to assist these two and it was like a ghost town. The waitress mentioned a skeleton crew and that our concerns were not new. Terrible way to run a business.
Worst restaurant experience in my life why would hostess bring up anything political as we were being seated would never go back
First time eating here and they were nice enough to leave breakfast kitchen open for our brunch reservations. Food was very good. Portions were good. Music was fantastic and our server was very nice.
We had the Ropa Vieja and Cerdo Asada which were both excellent. The salads were ok. They apologized in advance for slow service but we didn't find it to be too slow. Would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful time, cocktails were great, service outstanding, the only sour note was the roast pork my date ordered, it was well done, over cooked and tough. We understand things like this happen, and as I said our server was outstanding! They took care to remove it from our check, and we we love the place we will be back soon. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Beautiful atmosphere.
We hope they can hang on. Obviously a skeleton staff, but good food. While we were there 2 tables left because they never even got menus or attention.
The restaurant was closed after accepting reservations but it was an emergency. No one’s fault
Reservation was cancelled without any phone call or text message
No one even bothered to let us know
Our service was very poor. Watress was not attentive and there very very few tables occupied. It took an hour to get our meal, but the food and presentation was very good.
What a fantastic find! Was a little worried about some of the negative reviews but we had a wonderful experience sitting outside. The service is a little on the slow side but it did not bother us as we were perfectly happy enjoying the view and ambiance. Food was fantastic!
Limited Menu and selection.
The food was not very good, at all. Of everything we ordered, I would only recommend the whole fish.
We had a great time. We sat outside and greatly enjoyed the Cuban fare. We had plenty of space to feel comfortable. I am gluten free and appreciate that Overture’s chef is happy to meet special dietary requirements. They even made me gluten-free garlic bread. The fish was excellent as well! And the fried plantains are wonderful. Especially with Covid still constraining our activities, Overture is a welcome respite.
Our server was amazing.
We left after the appetizers because they were anything but appetizing!
Our New Year celebration dinner was very disappointing, the service was terrible and the food when we finally got it was very mediocre.
If it were possible to give negative stars I would. This was hands down the worst dining experience ever. Although the food was adequate, edible, the service was so bad I lost my appetite before even being served. And after trying to just make the best of it... the bill was incorrect making the night a total fail.
I hate to give such a negative review but this was warranted.
