Spring break with daughter and mother, three generations. Always the best ambience, paired with good food and service, makes for a great experience.
Much less than expected
When we arrived there was no one at the check-in desk. After a few minutes (not seconds) a pleasant young woman greeted & seated us. The waiter took our drink order but it was nearly 25 minutes before the drinks were brought to the table. One if the drinks was incorrect so it had to be returned. Another 15 minutes before the correct drink was brought. Dinner was served and the food was very good. We left the restaurant to go to FST for a performance. On the way back to the Palm Garage we returned to the hotel to stop in the lovely lobby bar to have a drink. We sat at the bar and there was no one to take our order. After we about 5 minutes we left. As we were going out the door we saw a person that we assume was the bartender return to their station behind the bar.
The service was really slow. We arrived for our reservation at 6:00 as we had a 8:00 show to attend across the street at FST. Our drinks took 25 minutes to arrive and dinner another 30 minutes or so. Food was OK not very hot. Finally got the check after I asked on my way out so at least one of us would be on time for the show.
I would like to say our waiter was very nice and I don't feel any of this was his fault.
Do not think we will be returning anytime soon.
Food was fine but pricey and service slow, even though there were only half a dozen people in the dining room. Meal was spoiled by ear-shattering honky-tonk music coming from the lobby. It's easy to see why the dining room was virtually vacant on a Saturday night even though this venue is close to theatres. I will not be going back.
Good food but portions were small for the price. Overall service was excellent.
Great food and great service! Exactly what you expect from a Marriott property restaurant.
It was Valentine’s Day. The menus was fixed. All that was good but the food was marginal and the service lacking even though the restaurant was less than half full.
We have dined many times at this restaurant but were very disappointed with our Valentine Dinner. Reservations were made at hotel and restaurant several weeks out, and the restaurant informed us five days before our reservation that there would be a fixed menu. It was a very limited selection offering one soup or salad, three entrees choices, and one dessert. With such short notice we were unable to book
another reservation anywhere else. Service was poor and the food was not up to par at all. We may never
The food was excellent but could have been served a little warmer. We all had the sea bass and thought it was the best we ever had. The service was not as good as the food. Our waiter was not well informed about the menu and could not answer basic questions. Also, we had to ask several times before we could get the wine list to select our wine for dinner. Lastly, our bill was incorrect, slightly off, but still incorrect. I gave service 4 stars only because it was obvious our waiter was trying very hard to please, he was just inexperienced. I would go again for the food even knowing the service might be sub par.
Nice restaurant... good food... quite
We hadn’t been back to Overture in over six months and I’m happy to say it is dramatically improved. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. It is definitely a go-to place. It’s convenient to theatre and opera. The ambiance is lovely. I would rate it among the best in town.
Most people have an aversion to hotel restaurants so they have to be really good to succeed. This spot is just off the lobby and I would have hoped for a more secluded type location. I ordered one of their featured cocktails, something called a right hand I believe and it was absolutely terrible. It should come off the menu. Salads were delicious as was the main course. Menu choices are limited. The worst of the experience was giving back my appetizer fork to use with my entree. I noticed the wait staff removing dishes at tables where people were still eating. Please wait until all at the table are finished before clearing the table.
I think with a better trained staff where they know to bring a clean fork for the entree etc, people can enjoy the experience. The bottom line however is that this will never be a destination point. Food was good but there is absolutely no reason to ever go back
Slow slow servicing. We were there an hour and on our first drink and barely ordered
We had seen both good and bad reviews on Overture. We had tickets to the theater and the hotel is extremely convenient, so we tried it.
The restaurant was practically empty we arrived at 6:30, but filled up a little as we were finishing.
The waitress was very accommodating, the entries were generous portions, very tasty, great presentation and very nicely served.
We did get the brussels sprouts appetizer because of the positive reviews.
They were right, very interesting flavor and presentation.
We would definitely consider returning
Best scallops I have ever had in my life! And I am 70 years old and eat seafood all the time. Beautiful space, beautiful presentation of food, delicious food all around, if a bit skimpy on portions. For a quiet, romantic dinner, Overture is one of the top places we have eaten in Sarasota. If you like lots of noise, huge portions and an obnoxious wait staff go someplace else.
I thought the food was very good and well presented but the kitchen was extremely slow. It wasn’t that busy as there were only two tables filled in the restaurant. The waiter spoke minimal English and never came back to the table to offer us another drink or explain why the food was taking so long. We almost missed the beginning of our FST show.
We have enjoyed this restaurant 4 times for a Sunday brunch, simply amazing environmental, violin playing, great service, amazing buffet, however last Saturday I had reserved a table for Sunday and recieved a voicemail that morning indicating the buffet would no longer be available.
When I arrived no one new why the decision had been made.
Very disappointing ☹
Lovely atmosphere, good food, attentive service! it was a wonderful prelude to an afternoon at the theatre across the street!
This is a nice place to dine, prior to going to the Van Wezel for a show. The Brussels sprout salad is good, although a tad sweet and the fish was slightly overdone. Still, it was a pleasant option for dining.
Will be back.... very very nice... prices good... food fabulous... violin playing on Sunday.... terrific....
Always great! Good food. Love the ambiance. One of my favorites. The smoked chicken is a home run.
My friends and I enjoyed a pre theatre lunch. The food was delicious. Our server was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere of the room was lovely and intimate. I look forward to a return visit!
Food was pedestrian at best. We were the only table for lunch, apart from 2 ladies having drinks. Bread rolls we were served were totally inedible. Wine list very expensive and confused. It was like dining in an airport after the last plane had left. Would not return.
We are outside- no noise. Jamie was our server! She is attentive and excellent.
A new hidden gem in the Art Ovation hotel!. The ambiance alone is worth the trip, with artwork of many different mediums and genres throughout the lobby and restaurant, many of which are for sale. But the food is outstanding as well. From the crispy Brussel sprouts with sriracha agave to the crab-crusted grouper and delicious desserts, this is a must-stop on every Sarasota foodie's list!
It was great except I got stuck in the ladies bathroom stall due to a broken deadbolt. I was in there for 25 minutes screaming until my husband got worried and a hotel person said someone is screaming in the ladies room. It was pretty frightening !!!
Lovely place for lunch. Food is good and the room is beautiful. Have been there for lunch on four occasions and will be there again!
Pleasant surprise for a hotel. Frankly one of the better restaurants in town. have a rooftop drink first.
Service was impeccable as was the food we ordered. The cocktail was ‘the best’. Impressed.
My husband and I were celebrating his birthday. The manager came to our table and asked if everything was fine. The wait staff came to our table with a beautiful dessert. We will be having dinner there again soon.
Thought this restaurant was upsale. When we entered, we discovered it was not. Very loud rap music was playing. Lights were bright and harsh. Very loud overall. Had atmosphere of a cafeteria.
We started with cocktails at the roof top bar then had dinner downstairs. We opted to eat outside as the weather was pleasant. Very quite outside by the way. Food was excellent . We all ate different dishes: steak & frites was on point, fried whole snapper was perfect, raviolis and shot ribs were tender and so tasty! Service was friendly and very competent ! We met one of the very talented and friendly manager “Freddie Mercury” who made our evening even more personable. We will return... we had a lovely evening !!
Amazing experience, service food and facilities were all wonderful. Definitely now on our favorites list. Great value for money👍🥂😊
We started on the rooftop bar. Lots of kids as the pool is there. Noisy but fun with fancy unusual cocktails. Most are $12 each. Nice view of downtown and the gulf. Dinner is on the main floor. Restaurant was almost empty. Most people were in the lobby bar and the rooftop bar. Food was excellent. Loved the sautéed Brussels sprout appetizer. Scallops also very good. Prices are all ala carte but seemed reasonable. Nice hotel restaurant.
Poor wine selection. Fish over cooked.
Food and service was excellent. Definitely will be going there again!
Food was excellent. We were the only table occupied and it took tooling to get out food
AWFUL. Management was HORRIBLE. Server was excellent but too many things out of her control. It is clear to see why the restaurant was empty. Truly a shame. will never return and move the idea of other banquet functions away from the property.
We waited 50 minutes for out food. The restaurant wasn't even busy. We won’t going back.
