Enjoyed the current Cuban themed menu! We were sitting outside along Palm Ave., pretty far from the kitchen, but the service was still very good! Easy to recommend!
We have eaten here before, but we’re quite disappointed this time. They were understaffed & service was not good. Many tables sat with dirty dishes long after people left. For Easter Sunday brunch, I thought they would have been more prepared.
Our rating in no way reflects the waitress’s or the host’s valiant attempts to provide service. Our impression was that they were left blowing in the wind with no support to give good service. We waited one and 1/2 hours for our entrees. The waitress actually came by asking us if we wanted our check as she had not realized that we never received our entrees although appetizers had been brought out by other personnel. She had a look of shock when we told her. We felt very bad for the waitress as she was the only one working the entire restaurant’s multiple tables including a party of 8. The hostess was trying to help her out but had been told to not leave her post. I walked around to see who was available in the restaurant to assist these two and it was like a ghost town. The waitress mentioned a skeleton crew and that our concerns were not new. Terrible way to run a business.
Worst restaurant experience in my life why would hostess bring up anything political as we were being seated would never go back
First time eating here and they were nice enough to leave breakfast kitchen open for our brunch reservations. Food was very good. Portions were good. Music was fantastic and our server was very nice.
We had the Ropa Vieja and Cerdo Asada which were both excellent. The salads were ok. They apologized in advance for slow service but we didn't find it to be too slow. Would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful time, cocktails were great, service outstanding, the only sour note was the roast pork my date ordered, it was well done, over cooked and tough. We understand things like this happen, and as I said our server was outstanding! They took care to remove it from our check, and we we love the place we will be back soon. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Beautiful atmosphere.
We hope they can hang on. Obviously a skeleton staff, but good food. While we were there 2 tables left because they never even got menus or attention.
The restaurant was closed after accepting reservations but it was an emergency. No one’s fault
Reservation was cancelled without any phone call or text message
No one even bothered to let us know
Our service was very poor. Watress was not attentive and there very very few tables occupied. It took an hour to get our meal, but the food and presentation was very good.
What a fantastic find! Was a little worried about some of the negative reviews but we had a wonderful experience sitting outside. The service is a little on the slow side but it did not bother us as we were perfectly happy enjoying the view and ambiance. Food was fantastic!
Limited Menu and selection.
The food was not very good, at all. Of everything we ordered, I would only recommend the whole fish.
We had a great time. We sat outside and greatly enjoyed the Cuban fare. We had plenty of space to feel comfortable. I am gluten free and appreciate that Overture’s chef is happy to meet special dietary requirements. They even made me gluten-free garlic bread. The fish was excellent as well! And the fried plantains are wonderful. Especially with Covid still constraining our activities, Overture is a welcome respite.
Our server was amazing.
We left after the appetizers because they were anything but appetizing!
Excellent Services
Our New Year celebration dinner was very disappointing, the service was terrible and the food when we finally got it was very mediocre.
If it were possible to give negative stars I would. This was hands down the worst dining experience ever. Although the food was adequate, edible, the service was so bad I lost my appetite before even being served. And after trying to just make the best of it... the bill was incorrect making the night a total fail.
I hate to give such a negative review but this was warranted.
New Year’s Eve
Was a great cultural dining experience. Not crowded, well spaced out and airy.
Highly recommend for this Cuban Experience!!! ( Cigar boxes on tables!!!!)
Excellent food—not so much authentic Cuban as a more US-style. But my friend and I both had excellent drinks and very good entrees, the beef in my case. The fried plantains were outstanding. Service was very good, but the place was largely empty due to Covid.
Spring break with daughter and mother, three generations. Always the best ambience, paired with good food and service, makes for a great experience.
Much less than expected
When we arrived there was no one at the check-in desk. After a few minutes (not seconds) a pleasant young woman greeted & seated us. The waiter took our drink order but it was nearly 25 minutes before the drinks were brought to the table. One if the drinks was incorrect so it had to be returned. Another 15 minutes before the correct drink was brought. Dinner was served and the food was very good. We left the restaurant to go to FST for a performance. On the way back to the Palm Garage we returned to the hotel to stop in the lovely lobby bar to have a drink. We sat at the bar and there was no one to take our order. After we about 5 minutes we left. As we were going out the door we saw a person that we assume was the bartender return to their station behind the bar.
The service was really slow. We arrived for our reservation at 6:00 as we had a 8:00 show to attend across the street at FST. Our drinks took 25 minutes to arrive and dinner another 30 minutes or so. Food was OK not very hot. Finally got the check after I asked on my way out so at least one of us would be on time for the show.
I would like to say our waiter was very nice and I don't feel any of this was his fault.
Do not think we will be returning anytime soon.
Food was fine but pricey and service slow, even though there were only half a dozen people in the dining room. Meal was spoiled by ear-shattering honky-tonk music coming from the lobby. It's easy to see why the dining room was virtually vacant on a Saturday night even though this venue is close to theatres. I will not be going back.
Good food but portions were small for the price. Overall service was excellent.
Great food and great service! Exactly what you expect from a Marriott property restaurant.
It was Valentine’s Day. The menus was fixed. All that was good but the food was marginal and the service lacking even though the restaurant was less than half full.
We have dined many times at this restaurant but were very disappointed with our Valentine Dinner. Reservations were made at hotel and restaurant several weeks out, and the restaurant informed us five days before our reservation that there would be a fixed menu. It was a very limited selection offering one soup or salad, three entrees choices, and one dessert. With such short notice we were unable to book
another reservation anywhere else. Service was poor and the food was not up to par at all. We may never
go back.
The food was excellent but could have been served a little warmer. We all had the sea bass and thought it was the best we ever had. The service was not as good as the food. Our waiter was not well informed about the menu and could not answer basic questions. Also, we had to ask several times before we could get the wine list to select our wine for dinner. Lastly, our bill was incorrect, slightly off, but still incorrect. I gave service 4 stars only because it was obvious our waiter was trying very hard to please, he was just inexperienced. I would go again for the food even knowing the service might be sub par.
Nice restaurant... good food... quite
We hadn’t been back to Overture in over six months and I’m happy to say it is dramatically improved. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. It is definitely a go-to place. It’s convenient to theatre and opera. The ambiance is lovely. I would rate it among the best in town.
Most people have an aversion to hotel restaurants so they have to be really good to succeed. This spot is just off the lobby and I would have hoped for a more secluded type location. I ordered one of their featured cocktails, something called a right hand I believe and it was absolutely terrible. It should come off the menu. Salads were delicious as was the main course. Menu choices are limited. The worst of the experience was giving back my appetizer fork to use with my entree. I noticed the wait staff removing dishes at tables where people were still eating. Please wait until all at the table are finished before clearing the table.
I think with a better trained staff where they know to bring a clean fork for the entree etc, people can enjoy the experience. The bottom line however is that this will never be a destination point. Food was good but there is absolutely no reason to ever go back
Slow slow servicing. We were there an hour and on our first drink and barely ordered
We had seen both good and bad reviews on Overture. We had tickets to the theater and the hotel is extremely convenient, so we tried it.
The restaurant was practically empty we arrived at 6:30, but filled up a little as we were finishing.
The waitress was very accommodating, the entries were generous portions, very tasty, great presentation and very nicely served.
We did get the brussels sprouts appetizer because of the positive reviews.
They were right, very interesting flavor and presentation.
We would definitely consider returning
Best scallops I have ever had in my life! And I am 70 years old and eat seafood all the time. Beautiful space, beautiful presentation of food, delicious food all around, if a bit skimpy on portions. For a quiet, romantic dinner, Overture is one of the top places we have eaten in Sarasota. If you like lots of noise, huge portions and an obnoxious wait staff go someplace else.
I thought the food was very good and well presented but the kitchen was extremely slow. It wasn’t that busy as there were only two tables filled in the restaurant. The waiter spoke minimal English and never came back to the table to offer us another drink or explain why the food was taking so long. We almost missed the beginning of our FST show.
