While the Overlook restaurant at Blackrock Mountain Resort undoubtedly boasts a delightful staff and creates a welcoming ambience, the culinary experience left much to be desired during our recent visit. Despite the high expectations set by the resort's reputation, the food fell short of excellence. Regrettably, the bread and cookies were disappointingly hard, and the cornbread stuffing lacked both texture and flavor. The dessert section, unfortunately, resembled standard grocery store fare, failing to meet the elevated standards one would expect from a resort of this caliber. A particular letdown was the absence of pie options for Thanksgiving, a stark contrast to the impressive and more reasonably priced dinner we enjoyed last year. The noticeable decline in both food quality and the substantial increase in prices have left us with a sense of regret, prompting us to reconsider our dining choices for next year's Thanksgiving. Despite the culinary letdown, it's essential to acknowledge the beauty of the resort itself and the commendable efforts of the staff. However, the considerable gap in the dining experience compared to previous years raises concerns about the overall value for money. While there's a desire to give it another chance, confidence in a satisfying dining experience has waned. Our family Thanksgiving dinner at Blackrock Mountain Resort was, unfortunately, a far cry from the memorable experience we anticipated. With a heavy heart, we have decided to recreate our Thanksgiving dinner at home, attempting to fill the void left by this disappointing culinary endeavor. Here's hoping that future visits will see a resurgence in the culinary excellence that once defined our dining experiences at Blackrock.

Very very expensive. When I made the reservation it did not tell me the buffet was our only option or even that there was a buffet. Everything showed me the restaurant menu.

They could have picked a better time to vacuum the entire staircase! (so annoying) The service was good - we were the only table there. They shouldn't use "stylistic" flat plates. The flat plates were difficult to handle, especially for the wait staff.

We decide to give this restaurant a second chance, the first time was a year ago and it wasn’t good but the place was super busy so we thought it was the rush of the kitchen making mistakes, last night we were surprised in a bad way, it was almost empty and we discovered why! Salty food all of our 4 different choices, the halibut was horrible dry piece of fish. very small tiny portions a $50 dollar hanger stake that’s disappointing and the flavor is nowhere to be found, the waitress was kind and helpful but it was a big No No! to this “restaurant” .

This is a brand new restaurant in a brand new resort - it will take some time for the chef and menu to get sorted out. Prices are high, but the quality of the food is okay. Hot food was not necessarily hot and portions were very small - especially for the price. The cocktails were excellent - still a little bit pricey for what you received.

Great appetizers and outstanding salads. My elk pasta dish….not very impressive.; However, my girlfriend’s home made ravioli dish… was superb! Cocktails…where very good. Thank you guys, Will see you again soon.

We had a wonderful time. It was our anniversary dinner. We requested a table so we can look out the window and enjoy the view. About 30 minutes into the service a boisterous party of 3 sat next to the table adjacent us but demanded to the server he close the blinds. So when he did that, we told our server that we would prefer to have the blinds opened, but he came back saying that noisy party wanted it closed and he could not help us. It was SO frustrating to try to have a nice dinner and a view but to look at a closed blind. That party could have sat away from the window since they did not even care where they sat. It was rude and not very courteous to the other tables that wanted the view as well. It ruined a wonderful dinner.

Great experience- our server, Savanna was amazing and could not do enough for us. New to the area our first time in Utah she was very helpful in places to go and see. It was out bday and she was more excited for us than we were and had us pick a delicious dessert- we ate way too much but all very good

I spent a week in Park City. This was the best meal I had my entire time here. The food was fresh and delicious. Our server Savannah was lovely. I would definitely recommend getting the Elk Bolognese.

Best cheese curds EVER! Signature Black Rock Burger was delicious! The view of the mountains from the dining room was unsurpassed. Highly recommend giving Overlook a try, even if you are not staying at the hotel. You won’t be disappointed!😋

The food was very good, I would recommend the Tomato Bisque. There is not a lot of room between groups in the dining room. When a large group was seated right next to us, it was very difficult to hear my husband. We may return again, only for a special occasion because of the cost.

During the quieter season, we visited the restaurant and after 15 minutes of waiting, our server informed us that she didn't have our reservation on her list and asked about the reservation timing. We had just arrived in Park City and made an Open Table reservation for 8pm. The homemade bread was truly delightful, though the rest of the meal was average. Our server wasn't present for the remainder of the meal, prompting us to request the bill from another staff member as our server was engaged in a conversation with a different table for about 10 minutes. While I understand that the restaurant operates within a hotel and this was the off-season, the fact that they're listed on Open Table should imply readiness for last-minute reservations. Given that our server was the only one attending to the floor, it's evident that she might not have been prepared for our arrival. This feedback is more directed towards the management. For those considering dining here during the summer months without staying at the hotel, I'd suggest making early Open Table reservations to ensure a smooth experience.

Overlook has been one of our go-to choices. However, the menu has changed. The food was fine, but not as good as what they used to have, and quite a bit more expensive. You pay a lot more for a lot less that isn’t as good. We won’t be going back.

we have been going to Overlook since they opened and each time the menu is different and the prices have more than doubled. We went last night for the first time in a month and the entire menu was changed due to a new chef and the bill for four people was over $400. We are locals and had loved frequenting the restaurant, but will not be going again.

We where eating at your restaurant as much as 3-4 times a month. We have sold a lot of property in that neighborhood and enjoy eating there with our friends and clients. However, last night will be our last and probably most of our clients aftey they eat there with the new menu. Everything on the old menu we liked and there was no longer any of those items, it was completely changed. The new chef should know better than to change the entire menu. The chef should slowly offer there weekly specials to see what people like and slowly move them onto the menu permanently while removing any slow sellers. I would imagine by the few people who where in there for dinner it has already affected the business. Even what was called Vanilla Ice Cream is no longer vanilla and tastes like pine needles. Our server was great though!

We have kept many items that were on the previous menu and added items that are higher quality. We are making everything in house including all the breads, dressings, desserts & our burger patties where as before it was mainly premade or processed. We're using fresh items from local business as well. I hope you will give us another opportunity & glad service was great

For a restaurant named "Overlook" I didn't find the view that spectacular for the Park City area. From a food quality, we both ordered the Halibut, and while the quality of the fish was good and it was cooked well, the sauce was disappointing.

30 minutes after we placed our order we had to find a server to ask to check on our food. The waiter showed up and said it would be out soon it was another 15 minutes. The food was barely warm and the restaurant only had 5 tables of patrons it was not busy in any way. We won’t be back!!

For not being very busy, the food/service was verrrrrrry slow. My potatoes were cold but my avocado toast was really good! Other diners in our party were underwhelmed by their meals and it was a little pricey for what we got, but it's a beautiful spot!

Overlook charged $80 per person for a Mothers Day "brunch" plus additional for drinks (including coffee). The actual buffet contained breakfast items only, all of which were sitting in serving dishes for a lengthy amount of time and weren't well cooked nor fresh. For that price point one would expect non breakfast items as well as freshly cooked items. I have been to hotels with free breakfast buffets that were better than this "brunch". I have never said this before about a restaurant, but I felt completely ripped off by this experience.

I went to Mother’s Day brunch last year and it was wonderful. This year the food was very below par and not even close to the quality we had the year before. Food was not replenished in a timely manner and the selection of food choices was limited. Very disappointing and others that I spoke with felt the same. Our discount was ridiculous and it was very expensive as well. Will not go again.

The Mother’s Day brunch was extremely disappointing. The food was tasteless and many items were overcooked. There was very little variety for the main course and appetizers and no variety on the dessert. It also was as expensive as any buffet out there but not good.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a brunch before. When we arrived, there was a guy in a bathing suit, flip flops with the no shirt loading up two plates at the buffet. We asked the hostess if this was allowed snd she said she didn’t know snd took no initiative to find a manager. We were so turned off, we should have left but stayed to be underwhelmed with the buffet. The salmon was totally out snd not replaced. We ordered our drinks before we went to the buffet and only got them half way through our meal. We will never return.
