Nice place to celebrate any occasion . Foods were great and server was attentive . Enjoyed our bday dinner with cozy atmosphere
Not worth it. The ambiance has totally changed, mainly due to COVID. But the elegance is gone. Feels like sitting in a cheap patio. Grate iron chairs and tables.....a very expensive picnic.
Service is terrible. Ordered food and didn't get a repeat visit from our server until we were done. Not a "How is the food?" Or even "Would you like another drink?" Save your money and head to another restaurant on Santana Row.
Host is really nice but server and runners not so good. Food runner and server keep making me rice for my food they drop it off on the other side when it’s just to of us and place is not busy. Glassware was cloudy and handprints. My beef cheek has so much fat and meat is so sticky and has no flavor. Only thing good about the plate was the mashed potato but everything else is tasteless.
Food was okay. Presentation of each dish was nice, but food didn't seem to have any soul to it.
What a wonderful find! The tables are sparsely placed in the hotel's beautiful courtyard. all the food items we ordered were delicious.
There are not a ton of very good Tapas restaurants in San Jose. Oveja Negra was a surprising hit. The Lobster Arancini were fantastic as was the caramelized Cauliflower dish. A very traditional garlic shrimp dish was elevated by a sauce that was emulsified rather than just bubbling butter or oil and garlic.
The restaurant is hard to find, located inside the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row on the third floor. Two areas that I could improve: one, the menu is a little complicated in that some dishes are dinner portions and others are tapas but they are not labeled. The waitress did a great job of explaining which dishes were entrée portions and which ones were tapas, but I think you should be able to discern that from the menu itself. Also, the restaurant in a courtyard, which while beautiful can get chilly even with the heaters. I was cold as we went later in the evening and not knowing it was outside, I would have brought a jacket.
Not cheap but not expensive, worth a visit.
Fantastic food and service! I highly recommend!
Great service but food was wanting and ambience was wanting as well. Too much salt in all their dishes. Limited menu.
Where can I start? The name of the restaurant is "Oveja Negra" but the logo has a RAM in it (Cabra in Spanish) Wrong animal, just like the dishes trying to pass as Spanish tapas.
Have been borne in Spain and traveling home every year, I get it! It is hard to replicate the real Spanish dishes. But common! make a bigger effort to sever the real deal. The Gambas al Ajillo are far, far from the real deal. The Fideua dish is a total insult to Barcelona.
I'm sorry but I'm not coming back until I hear you guys are serving the real deal. Or maybe I return as a consultant. Please do not destroy the best food in the world like that.
First, the food was amazing! We started with the cauliflower dish, which we ate up and then moved on to the halibut and the truffle pasta. The halibut melted in our mouths and the pasta had the perfect amount of truffle. Our waiter was on it with the drinks and the food came out quickly. I’ll definitely be heading back!
Great service and food!! We will be back!
The menu was very short and overpriced. We ended getting drinks (cocktails) that we didn’t like and leaving without eating. There wasn’t anything on the menu that looked appealing. We ended up going to left bank for dinner instead.
It's a beautiful venue with delicious food and a delightful ambience.
Signage at the street level could be a bit better
Great meal out door location excellent.
First time there, got busy quick and took a while to check on us for drinks but overall food was great!
Our server was attentive and engaging. Our food was delicious. The ambience was perfect- especially for outdoor service.
It seems like ON is still reseting following the COVID lockdown. The seating was very odd with only two 2 person tables along the window close to the kitchen so it was quite noisy. Food was still pretty good and the service did the best it could although it seemed a bit in disarray. A way to go to getting back to the great experience I had there in the past.
We tried many dishes; everything was tasty.
This was a great restaurant and had some of the best tapas
Please don’t look at the menu online. It is nothing what you see on the menu at the restaurant. This suppose to have Tapas as it claims online, but not a single dish on the menu that has Tapas. Very disappointed since we drove 1 1/2 to eat dinner and no Tapas.
Lovely tapas dinner. The food and wine were great. Dined outside on the patio. Will definitely go back.
An absolute disaster.
Service was horrible, food was not good at all. The menu that’s online is not the real one.
Expensive, not worthy
Good place for a date night. The signature dish (braised beef cheeks ) was delicious. The salad offering and charcuterie are must have for starters. The cocktail we liked the best was the Blanca Sangria. The churro for dessert was a delight. The service was a bit strained ( I think they were a bit understaffed) but still friendly and attentive.
I enjoyed the place, and environment. Service was good, and we were happy about that. However I think there was not much variety of food in the menu, and everything was expensive on menus, also when I got my food it was super cold. However my friends and I enjoyed the place.
I have been dining at oveja Negra , menu has not changed for a long time , considering they have very limited menu . For the value and the food , it’s alright average
small menu, food ok not great
was disappointed though our waiter was super nice
The food was not memorable. The cocktails were very nice.
The sea bass was amazing. Ambiance was great, and the staff was super friendly
great food and really nice outdoor seating. Quite secluded so not lots of people
Great food, great atmosphere, service is slow and not much involvement, but they gave us free dessert without us asking for it! We had 6 people dinner. It was a great value for the money and very good experience overall.
Excellent portion sizes. Food came out quickly. Food was tasty. Good selection.
I had dinner with my father and he was very impressed with the courtyard, food, and service. It is a beautiful open space that had tables spaced out far from each other. The menu is small, but complex in the options they offer. The items were priced well and not too overly expensive. Service was attentive to make sure we experienced a wonderful dinner.
Food was good. Service was slow. I don't know if they were understaff. The servers were friendly though.
The staff are knowledgeable of the menu and helpful. The prices are decent for an upscale tapas restaurant, and the portions are large enough to share with others. The food is well worth the cost, particularly the shrimp.
Always enjoyed spending time with family & friends. Just a little disappointed due to pandemic.
Ofcourse, we’ll come back again.
Was pretty smooth. Restaurant was friendly
My date and I had an amazing dinner and the quiet setting allowed for some great conversation and comfort.
The food was absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed ourselves!!
Great food! Friendly service!
