I visited Oveja to celebrate our first year anniversary... the staff welcomed us with champagne which was really nice. The staff was helpful and friendly. We ordered 4 dishes: the Lamb, Brussels Sprouts, Thai Shrimp, and Ahi Tuna Tacos. Overall, the food tasted really good, the tacos and Brussels were our favorites. My issue with the Lamb dish that it was dry and only warm.. when you cut into the meatball you don't see the steam coming out. For the Thai Shrimp, it tasted good and was hot, but it would have appreciated having a small bowl on the side to enjoy the curry. One thing I didn't like is that all the dishes cam at the same time, I do believe it would be better to have them delivered separately
We thought this would be a nice spot for our anniversary dinner. When we walked in we were barely greeted and taken to a table directly behind a large group. Our waiter was nice, but because it wasn’t very busy we felt rushed. We love small plates restaurants but Oveja didn’t seem to give thought to coursing and the food was disjointed. When we decided not to order more our waiter made several snide remarks about having a, ‘light dinner.’ Oveja has all of the makings of a great restaurant but didn’t pull it together for us.

I stopped in for dinner and I love variety especially with such a high-quality dishes… This evening I ordered the ribs the brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and garlic shrimp prawns… I always have such a great experience here… It still feels a bit undiscovered by the general population ... I love the personal touch this is one of my favorite restaurants in Santana Row definitely my top three.
Hello, Wow! Thank you on behalf of everyone on the Oveja Negra and culinary team. We pride ourselves in being an option on Santana Row unlike any other. It's great to hear that you had such a nice time. You certainly picked some favorites. I can personally recommend the Short Ribs for your next visit and the chef is playing with a Pulled Pork Arepas dish that was excellent in the tasting phase and should hit the menu this week. Thank You! Jonathan
Really enjoyed our evening at Oveja Negra! Our server was fantastic, food delicious, very clean and comfortable...will definitely return.
Hello Tammy, Thank you for coming to dine with us at Oveja Negra last weekend. We are glad to hear it was a nice experience! We are adding a few new dishes this week: Pulled Pork Arepas (also available vegetarian), Korean Squid Stir Fry, and Adobo Chicken Drumsticks. We keep all the favorites too. Good food, nice venue
Hello MarcusS, Thank you for joining us for dinner. We appreciate your feedback! We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Jonathan
While the service and food was great, the decor and price was not comparable. For the price of the food and location, I thought the restaurant would look more luxurious.
Hello ChiP, Thank you so much for dining with us at Oveja Negra and providing your feedback. We will share this with the team and use it to make improvements in the future. We hope to see you dine with us again soon! Kindly, Jonathan
We chose this restaurant to sit in their beautiful courtyard for a romantic anniversary dinner. When we got there we learned that someone had bought out the courtyard for a banquet and we were seated in a differet room that had the ambience of a coffee shop. When I spoke with them they admitted they had the anniversary special occasion in the notes of my Open Table Table reservation. I feel they should have called and let us know. This ruined what was supposed to be special occasion. I won’t go back.
Hello, I am very sorry to hear your anniversary dinner did not go as planned. We do our best to call all reservations requesting outside seating to alert them if the area is closed for a hotel event. My sincerest apologies that we did not reach out in this case. I will be reaching out directly in hopes we can rectify the situation. Thank You, Jonathan
Everything about this place was great. The food was tasty (Tuna Tacos and Brussel Sprouts were amazing), service was prompt, and ambience was lovely.
Hello TrishiaC, Thank you for visiting us for dinner last week! I am a big fan of the Tuna Tacos and Brussel Sprouts too! We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Jonathan
Beautiful location, good food, and classy ambiance. Music was not too loud. Would definitely come back here
Hello LauraR, Thank you so much for dining with us over the weekend. We hope to see you again soon! Kindly, Jonathan
It was very quiet for a Saturday night
Thank you for dining with us at Oveja Negra. Our weekends can certainly range from quiet to fairly busy. We do pride ourselves in being one of the more peaceful options on Santana Row. We hope to see you again soon!
very polite service. delicious, innovative dishes.
Thank you so much for joining us and providing your feedback!
Made a reservation for a birthday celebration. Brought a cake and candles. Was told there would be a $2.50 cake cutting fee per person, even if we wanted to cut the cake ourselves. Overall service was ok and food was decent.
Hello Amka20, Thank you for dining with us for the birthday celebration. I am sorry the evening was not perfect. We do charge a cake cutting fee and corkage fee for outside dessert and wine. I would like to apologize if this effected your celebration in a negative way. We do hope that you join us again in the future. Sincerely, Jonathan
Best place for the business meal- love it
Hello richardh, We really appreciate your business! Please drop in anytime for dinner - business or personal. Also note, we have great large party options and a private dining room available for groups of 12 - 22. These can be set up in advance by contacting myself or Oveja Negra Manager Ali Mir. Thank You, Jonathan
Great food, quiet location. Solid service, good wine list. A bit pricey for what it is ($30 entree, $18+ for small tapas), but is really excellent food if price isn't a driving concern.
Hello KevinS, Thank you so much for joining us for dinner in July! We are always tweaking the food and drinks so hopefully each visit you can find something new to enjoy. Hope to see you soon! Best, Jonathan
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance at Oveja Negra. Was surprised by the beautiful outdoor space on the third floor of the Hotel Vallencia. It made for a quiet oasis from the busy street scene in Santana Row. Felt even a little European up there. We had the lamb meatballs and ahi tuna tacos and both were absolutely delicious. Also had some brussels sprouts, which were great, but by that point we were pretty full. The white sangria is a little sweet, but very tasty - perhaps not with the meatballs, but definitely with the rest of the dinner. My only bit of constructive feedback is to pace the dishes a little more slowly. Felt like everything came out pretty fast, thereby rushing the meal a little. Will definitely return to this quiet and delightful corner of Santana Row.
Hello Chris, Thank you for joining us for dinner. We really appreciate the contstuctive feedback. We are glad your experience was overall a nice one! We hope to see you again soon. Cheers, Jonathan
Very good meal. Fresh material. Good Tapas style.

If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet outdoor summer dining experience in Santana Row - this is the place.
We went on a Friday evening- it was a beautiful evening on the patio. We order 3 delicious tapas, the braised ribs, deconstructed paella, and the burrata cheese plate. We shared them between the 2 of us and it was a delicious dinner!
Will go back!
Hello Suzs, Thank you for dining with us! Sounds like you picked 3 of my personal favorites. We hope to see you again soon. The Lamb Albondigas are also exceptional. Kindly, Jonathan
The Watermelon Cucumber Salad was to die for! The short ribs were also pretty amazing! There was a wedding going on and so that was the only negative....the kids running around with no close parental supervision. Also....it took a reeaaaallllyyyyy long time for the smores to come out. Other than that, no real complaints. Staff were great.
awesome place! Hidden gem on Santana Row
Great food and ambiance. Perfect food for a night out.
Food and service was excellent
There was no one there. It just felt meh.
This is our second time dining here and we were very satisfied both times. I highly recommend Oveja Negra if you're in Santana Row.
Pretty pricey but overall great dining experience!
Oveja Negra continues to be one of my favorite restaurant in santana row. The food is good.
We were expecting an upscale dining experience, but the ambience was too bright and casual, almost like a cafe. We were early, so it was quiet empty, which didn't help set the mode either. Nonetheless, the service was attentive, and we ordered the Spanish wine flight, the potato croquettes and brussel sprouts to start with.
The food came fast. The sprouts were a large quantity, and really filled us up. However, they were not particularly distinctive, and felt oilier and heavier than we would expect (perhaps they deep fried them, instead of roasting them). The croquettes were more dainty, with three medium balls. Again, they did not impress much, as the inside was not as fluffy as we would expect, and felt like a cool lump of mashed potato.
The wine flight came, and they did not have the white on the menu, so substituted one from Napa instead. These were good enough, and helped move the meal along.
We next ordered the tiger shrimps and ahi tuna tacos. The tacos came first, two of them. The bread was thick and flaky (and unfortunately, dabbed in too much oil). The tuna was too chunky, and we could not find much of the jicama. My wife left half hers untouched, as she felt the fish was not fresh enough.
By the time the shrimps came, we were a bit jaded (and too full with the oil), so could only eat half of the generous portion. The coconut milk made this dish also quite heavy. We had no room left for dessert.
All in all, the experience was not what we were expecting. The ambience was a bit too casual. The food a bit too oily. Some items did not feel fresh. Service was good, though, so I guess they are trying, but they do need to improve the quality of the food to make more of an impression.
Food we ordered are great and delish. Service was fantastic at first with less people but when it was becoming crowded, they forgot to serve our dessert!. We followed it up 3 times and we just gave up waiting. They said they’re short staffed. They wanted to serve the dessert for free if we wanted to stay longer but we were in hurry.
We were a group of 13 mom's and we had a great time at Oveja Negra. The food was delicious and the servers took good care of us.
We decided to try because of the 35 oz tomahawk steak for $49 special on Tuesdays. Other food on the menu are tapa style. There are 5 of us, we ordered 2 steaks and its cooked perfectly and well worth the value but the tapas turned out very expensive. Some of the tapas are good but some are just ok. I recommend to go in just for the steak and may be the brussel sprouts and chicken dumplings.
Went on a Monday night and was surprised once again with the outstanding cuisine and service. Our group of 4 started out with the Tiger Prawns and the Braised short ribs. Both were a hit! I highly recommend the braised short ribs, the tenderness and the flavor were perfect. We followed that up with a Tomahawk steak and a bottle of Cabernet and that was just the perfect amount of food and wine for us! I highly recommend Oveja Negra for any occasion!
Overall the Service is Great, dining Area is spacious and comfortable. Only criticism is that the food is Just an okay-good, good but nothing Great and spectacular. The seafood Paella was the most lackluster, not really a Paella at all. It had no socarrat, the caramelized crunchy rice at the bottom of the pan, that makes Paella amazing - and its robust flavor. However, it was my first time there and would try again.
Hello MathewG, Thank you for joining us for dinner last Friday! Please come back soon and try the Tiger Prawns in a mild coconut curry broth, it is one of my all time favorites. We will be changing the menu seasonally and we always have some amazing options. We look forward to serving you in the future. Thank You, Jonathan
Our waiter took our food order then never came back for our drink order. The paella was super small and overpriced as it was the size of a personal pizza. The rice was eh , but the seafood was pretty good. The octopus was pretty bland and not that good for the price. After our waiter realized his mistake, he was awkward and kept lingering to make sure we didn’t want anything else. Overall, I would NOT go back as it was not that good.
Food was really not up to par. Pellaja tasted pre-made and terrible. Worst flight of wines ever had. Sangria tasted just like it came from a cheap brand mix.
The ambience of the place is pretty classy.
Service was at the level of an IHOP but it is no fault of the servers. They have not been trained to serve at a classy hotel restaurant.
This restaurant has been totally mismanaged. Not sure why they would take a beautiful place like this and put in a non experienced chef and no dining floor management but a few inexperienced servers.
Hello IVANK, Thank you for dining with us and providing your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear your experience did not match our goal. We will review this information in hopes of making improvements in the future. Thank You, Jonathan
It was a very bright room with no intimacy. The service was not exceptional nor was it welcoming. The food was very good but not a place for a date. I wasn’t a
Service was good but overall feel and decor of the restaurant was lacking. Located in the Valencia hotel on Santana Row one would expect a more polished decor and space. The restaurant felt empty and unfinished. Understand it's casual small plate Tapas but the look made the meal and experience feel cheap and not worth the price of the food. Food was ok, not great. Won't be going back.
Very noisy. Server forgot to bring vegetable dish. Passport only offered 20% discount. Would not return
Service was great. The meatballs and crab Mac and cheese were amazing. The veggie kabob not worth ordering IMO.
This hidden gem in Santana Row is one of my favorite restaurants in Silicon Valley. The ambience is not too loud, not too quiet and with a perfect mix of delicious plates and a great cocktail selection, Oveja Negra will not disappoint!
