Ovations is always reliable for great food and excellent service!
This is place is a great find !!! Everyone is incredibly friendly..it’s like cheers but much much better ! Definitely try the risotto and any fish dish you can’t go wrong !
This is a Perfect date night spot or dinner with friends.
Amazing !!! Best kept secret!!!
Extremely disappointed in our whole dinner atmosphere, appetizer was under cooked, dinner was okay, they did take off the appetizer from the bill, but calamari under cooked is unacceptable coming out of the kitchen! We will not be returning any time soon!!!
Great experience at Ovations! Would recommend it to anyone
The drinks are good. Definitely don't miss thier happy hours. Great deals on Martins. Appetizers/entrees are good but portions are a bit on the smaller side.
A+. Great experience and food.
First time I’ve ever given a bad review. But here goes. The service was nonexistent even though we were the only couple in the main dining room throughout our dinner. We ordered veal piccata which was paper thin and small and was in so much sauce it was like veal soup. I ordered mine with mashed potatoes and vegetables and got rice instead no explanation from the server when he brought it to me. Than at meals end when I asked for the check we waited 15 minutes still in a completely empty dining room while we watched our server playing or staring at his phone 15 feet away. Sorry to say I’ve never had a bad experience with open table reviews of restaurants in lots of states and other countries but this was a big bust.
Ovations is a hidden gem on Weston Canal road in Bound Brook. The food is eclectic - from Sushi to Steak, everything comes out perfectly. Their bread is great. The wait staff is spectacular from the bar (we enjoyed the happy hour) to our table. I had the fish special - served with perfectly done mashed potatoes. The members of our party couldn't be happier with their desserts - one which got called out was the apple cheesecake. Lovely.
Very nice restaturant. Took our son after his graduation Monday at PNC Arts Center. Mom and mom in law, hubby, me and our two sons all have very different palates. One had Sushi; one had gnocchi, one had salad, one had a burger and two had pasta. We were too tired for dessert but definitely next time!
Every dish was excellent! Pasta and sushi and burgers in one place? Crazy but they make it work!!! Eclectic and delicious! We will be back!
Service was sort of slow considering there were very few guests. Food was ok this is a sushi place mostly and that is not what I ordered.
Unfortunately, they had run out of my favorite dish, so I had to order something else. It was not as good, but it was fine.
I got a gift card for my birthday and so we decided to go last Saturday evening. I had the chicken francaise with mashed potatoes and veggies. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious. My hubby had the lobster crab ravioli and he raved about them. They were served in a vodka sauce and he really enjoyed it. We shared the calamari for appetizer and loved the fact that there were no spiny parts in the serving. The bread and dipping sauce is always something we look forward to. It was s delicious dinner, great service, wonderful atmosphere and someplace we always look forward to returning to.
Excellent service! Nice ambience on the patio. Did not rush us through dinner. Reasonably priced tasty food.
Always excellent in every way!
Excellent service. Very good food including a variety of unique and delicious specials. Neighborhood gem!
Food and service was outstanding!!! I highly recommend.
The food was the standard Italian fare, pasta, flatbreads, etc. It looks like they also offer sushi but we didn't try it. There was a table there that was quite noisy. It wasn't the restaurant's fault but considering the price of the food, they should have asked them to be quiet. It's an upscale restaurant, not a pizza place. The salad and pasta dishes were decent. The steak was subpar, steak shouldn't have any sauce on it. The sauce didn't taste good and neither did the actual steak.
Pros: The decor was nice and the restroom was clean. The music in the background, when we could hear it (see above), was pleasant. The waiter was nice and portion sizes were adequate. And there is a private parking lot.
Cons: The food was decent but definitely overpriced. It was too loud, and the restaurant did nothing about it. There seemed to be only one waiter for many tables, making it difficult to get his attention. We were only provided with a few slices of bread, once. When it was gone, no more was offered. And then there are sides, dishes need sufficient sides. As in more than one side; potatoes, rice, vegetables, they help make a dish and justify prices.
We made a reservation last minute on Mother’s Day and they were so welcoming, seating and serving us promptly. The food was amazingly delicious - the pappardelle with hazelnut cream sauce is not to be missed! The chicken piccata was the best we’ve ever had. Dessert was delicious and generously portioned. Fantastic food, fabulous place!
This was not our first time at Ovations, but our first Open Table booking. We discovered this neighborhood gem quite by accident and good karma. You wouldn't think that sushi and Italian food work, but they do and quite well. If it's nice outside, their patio is lovely, with nice views of the D&R Canal Towpath and glorious sunsets. The food is well prepared, nicely presented and service is properly paced. A friendly, homey place, one that we return to.
We enjoyed an early quiet dinner. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The portions were just right so there is room for dessert without being stuffed. The filet mignon was fork tender. The best we've had anywhere around. The veal piccata was also done well and delicious. The chocolate soufflé (lava cake) with ice cream for dessert was also just enough to enjoy. The prices were reasonable. We look forward to going back again.
First time here. Great food and drinks. Servers were attentive. Will surely go back with some friends.
I ordered the lobster ravioli, which turned out to be just 5-6 small pieces of ravioli in an ocean of tomato paste, hardly enough for a meal. I ended up having to place another order of a sushi roll, which, like the ravioli, were just ok. The waiter took forever to show up when I tried to place the second order. It was a very frustrating experience, not worth the trip at all.
This place is a great neighborhood restaurant...food is always great and they aim to please. The service is always the best from the hostess to the table servers!! Definitely give it try !!
First time visit for pre show dinner - comedy event at Zarephath Church ( in fact it was recommended by Church!). Overall experience was very good - warm and friendly meet and greet followed by very attentive waiter service. Menu selection was creative and food was very good although the Branzinho special was a little disappointing. Met owners Izzy and Tony as we left and they wanted to make sure we had a good time. Would definitely recommend and assume it is a very popular neighborhood destination. Thank you
Great spot for a business dinner. Tony and the staff delivered great service. The monkfish special was outstanding. The environment was lively and a solid overall experience.
We had an early reservation and brought our child with the grandparents..they could not accommodate us better !! They made sure our son ate ..and had all his needs met..really allowing us to enjoy our experience ! This place is our favorite and while It’s usually a date night spot for us it quickly became a new family favorite!
Though service was good waiter was a bit robotic. Food was just average highly salted. The steak sandwich was chewy not great. Best thing was the spinach salad but that was overpriced. Maybe we should have had sushi???
Awesome ...service great....bar tender Linda fabulous!
Awesome as always !! The food is great!! The service is wonderful!!! Our favorite place !!
I found this place on opentable when I was heading from NYC to NJ to visit friends. Growing in up in East Brunswick, I never heard of South Bound Brook. The reviews were great to figured I'd try. Def did not disappoint. The service was excellent and the food matched up. My friends and I had a delicious dinner and were well taken care of by Tony, the manager, who was super accommodating and our waiter was wonderful, and the chef came over to check on us as I had one with a food allergy and 1 picky eater at my table. We all left happy and satisfied!! I highly recommended whether you live in the area or not. It was worth the drive and I look forward to going back!! This was a great find and thank you to those who wrote the reviews before me...So glad I went!
Great place to get together with coworkers and friends. Sushi bar and good menu along with specials by Chef Jimmy.
fantastic food, service...be sure to order from the specials that evening as they are eclectic and delicious! We were there for a business meeting. OH, do try their specialty cocktails! I had the smoked Manhattan....O M G
Fantastic all around! I will say the sushi was the weakest point but it was still great! We’re just picky. Would definitely recommend!
Love this place! great food and the staff is always very Friendly!
Really great service at the bar, including a complimentary Sophie roll! Will definitely go back when I trave that way again.
This is a wonderful restaurant. Upscale and awesome food. The entire staff is like a family, and they are open and friendly with the customers.
First we were greeted by two pleasant guys, and brought to our private room. After that everything went wrong. The waiters took entirely to long to do any and everything. We asked for a replacement fork before he apps came, the fork came after the apps were already eaten. Later we receive our food which was not delightful. two different waiters were helping us and it was very clear that they didn’t communicate amongst themselves. I brought in my own cake for my partners birthday and they put the cake on the plate, that’s it. No forks no plates not even a knife. Then on the menu it’s said that gratuity is added to parties over 6. There was 7 of us. So i pay not even looking at my receipt. Then we were followed out of the restaurant asking NO TIP !? Yelling from the door to us on the sidewalk. Oh I’m sorry i was following your policy. NEVER AGAIN. Now I’m a hairstylist, i do customer service all day everyday. One even if you are not tipped you do not confront any customer, EVER. Before speaking self reflect did i give the best experience i can ? I do understand we are a crowd in our mid twenties but i do work amongst very elite and conservative executives and celebrities and it’s kind of insulting not being given any respect.
