Went here with my girlfriend for dinner before a show. The location is ideal and the layout is nice. Booths were comfortable and quiet. Service was good.
The food, however, was not good. I ordered the mushroom burger. The bun was dry and bunt. There might have been three mushrooms on the burger, along with a piece of lettuce. The burger itself lacked flavor. For $18, I expect more. Girlfriend ordered the duck, which was served around a pile of what looked like cabbage (didn't seem to be what the duck should be paired with). The duck wasn't dry, but it was quite bland.
All-in-all, good location, service, and ambiance, but poor quality food, especially for the price.
Great food and service .
The pizza is amazing
Nice ambiance, eclectic menu & great service from Brad made a great time with friends/ colleagues.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. Interesting and tasty food!
Great food, wonderful staff
Our server Chris was excellent and Sean in the kitchen made everything SO delicious!!
Extremely slow service though the actual servers were very nice. Food was good, drinks were only so-so but for the price definitely not worth it. In the area we were seated, the tables were so close together that there wasn’t even really enough elbow room between us and the couples sitting next to us. Overall it just wasn’t a good experience and I can not recommend it to others.
Great ambiance, spacious, great food, and great service!!!
Awful in many wAys. Poor service, overpriced , mediocre food.
The atmosphere is modern and fun. My friend and I had dinner here on Valentine’s Day, so they were only offering a prix fixe dinner menu. The cauliflower soup with Dungeness crab was so delicious. We had one each of the entrées and shared them. We had roast chicken served with wonderful grilled brussels sprouts and lardons on a bed of mashed celery root, and a fillet served on fancy hashbrowns and creamed spinach. The filet melted in our mouths and we loved everything but the creamed spinach. For dessert we got one each of a chocolate cake and the pears stewed in red wine served with mascarpone. The cake smelled and tasted a bit stale, but it came with amazing raspberry crisps made of caramelized sugar. The pears were good but the sauce was a little too “interesting” in a way we couldn’t quite identify. We did not finish either one. Overall, I would probably eat here again, but will not make a special effort to come back.
Really bad experience. Slow service. Steak was ordered medium, but was presented undercooked to the point of being unsafe. This was our third try on this place - we won’t be returning.
Went here for Valentines day which had a special menu provided however my husband has celiac disease so they allowed us to order from the menu. Food was very flavorful. The appetizer carrot vadouvan dish was amazing. Also had the steak and frites which had good flavor and potatoes were nice and crispy. Had a squash salad which was ok but nothing amazing and the cheesecake as we were able to get it without crumbles so was gluten free. Cheesecake didn't have a lot of flavor but maybe that was because we didn't have the crumbles too. Overall it was a good meal, friendly service and fun ambiance.
Pretty good valentine's day meal
Very disappointing Valentine experience. First Open Table shows about $30/person when it is closer to $60. When we arrived, we were given a table in a dark spot next to the bar. We asked for a booth and hostess told us we would have to wait with no offer of a better location. The table next to us was declined by the next five patrons who were offered better seating. We were only offered a prix-fixe menu for Valentine Day with two options. Other tables seemed to be able to order other items off the regular menu, but we were not given any other options. We both had the filet which was very good. The space is concrete, steel and chain link. It is loud and dark. To top it off, they added a surcharge to the bill which was NOT disclosed on any menu. Other places in Seattle don’t have hidden charges. When I asked the hostess about the surcharge, she first pointed out the price for the meal, when I clarified that a surcharge is not the price, the hostess told us that is was required by Seattle and then said "would it make you feel any better to talk to the manager". This seemed like a blow off and we let it go rather than pursue it then and further spoil the evening. Undisclosed fees are simply unacceptable (& possibly illegal). The prices in the menu should be the cost, not a lower limit plus whatever the establishment decides to add.
Great food. I had the salmon sandwich with fries. The salmon was flavorful and the fries were perfect! Service was awesome.
Service was decent food was not.
Very disappointing experience! Horrible overhead spotlights shining in our eyes. 2 of the entrees on the menu are pizzas - they were not available on a Saturday night! Duck breast was a salad but no reference to it being a SALAD - offered as an entree. Waited 15 minutes for a beer and glass of wine , after being seated. Service was rather condescending and we were then ignored.
Would not recommend this restaurant for dining. Perhaps the bar experience is better.
Staff did not mention until ordering that the woodfired pizza oven was broken. decided to leave as other food selection not really wanted. place was mainly empty and soulless.
probably best for just a drink.
Food was delicious. But service was very poor. Had to ask for knife multiple times, wasn't offered dessert and barely saw our server. The lighting was also odd. Felt like we were in a cafeteria. Made a reservation for 4, but got a table meant for 5 which made it difficult for everyone to converse.
Great happy hour. Then we moved to the restaurant for dinner. A menu with a lot of variety and the food was excellent. The dessert menu had excellent choices as well.
Our server was excellent - and made our experience here even better. My dinner was on the lighter side - roasted carrots with several other tastes to combine with it (as directed by the server) to create a wonderful blend of flavors.
Fantastic! The fried chicken sandwich was so crispy and delicious. My entire party of 7 loved their food and cocktails. Can't wait to return!
It was a great experience. Our server Chris was fantastic explained everything and went above and beyond to make sure we have a great lunch. Food was great tasting and looked fantastic.
Delicious mushroom pizza. Okay duck bolognese. Service was odd--delayed and awkward at 11:20 am, then hyperactive for a bit, then delayed and awkward near check time. I'll be back but wasn't any more than pleased/okay/content overall.
The food was very good. We had the carrot starter which was by far the most unique dish we had. Very good. We also shared a bunch of other plates like the laksa, the roasted chicken and the steak frites. Each was well done and tasted good. They had a limited wine list and some interesting cocktails. We had a very attentive server who kept us well fed and with full glasses.
Business lunch. Contemporary design amplifies noise. Excellent food and service but too few gluten free options. Over half the menu is sandwiches but no gluten free bread available.
Always tasty and reliable my only wish is that it wasn’t so loud !
It was a little disappointing to see that they serve the drinks in the broken glass. I pointed to the broken glass. the waitress was very apologetic and was willing to remove the charge from the bill as well as bring me a new drink with no charge.
She either forgot to remove the charge or something else but the charge was on the bill. Surprise!!!!
I had to talk to the manager. The charge was removed from the bill but the holiday spirit at the table was a little suppressed. To deal with that type of nonsense at the New Year Eve dinner is unpleasant.
In general , the food was excellent!
I took my grand-daughters there for lunch and when they misunderstood the server and ordered a "medium" burger they thought they were bringing them a medium-size burger, not medium-rare cooked (they're kids! and I did not pick up on it). Anyway, chef gladly took it back and cooked it a longer to be well-done and brought them both back a fresh bun. They were very happy with the service that we got there, so thank you!! It's not often that I have the chance to take my grand-daughters out to a nice lunch downtown near where I work!
Christmas Morning breakfast - limited options. We were fortunate that Outlier was open - and right downstairs in our hotel.
The food was great and the staff were cheerful - even though I imagine they'd prefer to be at home with family. I tipped accordingly - Merry Christmas and thanks for being there.
Fabulous dinner and drinks on Christmas Eve.
The staff were cheerful, lovely and efficient.
Superb recommendations and knowledge about the various dishes, and preparation.
The signature cocktails were divine. I asked for, and received the recipe for my favorite.
We will visit Seattle again and most certainly return to The Outlier.
Outlier is a great addition to the Monaco. The food (Christmas Eve dinner) was outstanding in taste (the chef made cabbage delicious), and presentation (the rockfish was spectacular). Our server, Scott W., was as close to perfect as possible -- helpful, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We will come back when we can.
Had a great dinner of small plates . They made great drinks plus a custom mock tail for a pregnant member of the group. Pleasant and attentive staff.
By far the WORST dining experience I've had over the last 5 years in Seattle. Service was slow and inattentive. We thought it curious that the cheese board had fig spread and tomato jam but no flat bread or bread slices then the next table got theirs and saw that indeed it should have been there. We could have complained if someone had bothered to ask how we were doing.
Then my "duck breast" arrived. 1 slice of breast intact and another precut into 4 bite-sized pieces. No, these weren't duck breast halves - they were literally 3/4 inch strips cut from the breast so I'm guess each breast half was split between 2 orders. Also, all the seasoning for the dish was in the greens under the duck. The meat itself was just salt and pepper. To be fair, the cooking on the duck was done correctly and I'm sure it would have been good if it had still been hot when it arrived but it was allowed to sit before a food runner discovered it so by then the moisture had ruined the crust on the outer skin.
My wife's salmon was well prepared but it was served with a flavorless corn cake that was too mouth-dessicatingly dry to take more than two bites of.
On top of bad food and poor service, they tried to present us a bill that was more than twice what we ordered.
I'd rather eat at Jimmy John's and support the murder of endangered species than eat here. If you get the opportunity to miss this place, take it.
They claimed I did not have a reservation
My group of five enjoyed themselves and had a fine meal. Some comments made about coming back. Nice ambiance.
What a great find. The five in our party loved the food! Our service was excellent. I started with the Sake Poached Pear that was amazing. We had a variety of entrees Nduja Sausage Brick Oven Pizza Pizza, Rr Ranch Culotte Steak Frites, Duck Bolognese, and House ground cheese burger. My son wants to go back for the amazing fries that came with his burger. !
Great service from everyone one the staff.
This place isn't going to rock anyone's world, but the food was good and the service friendly and attentive. The biggest drawback is the incredibly spare decor, lack of ambience or charm, and the presence of big screen TVs that just make this place a glorified sports bar. Ugh.
Recently went to the Outlier to celebrate a birthday, and must say this is a highly disappointing restaurant! I ordered the duck and for $22, you get four (4) very small pieces of duck, these were the size of the pieces of beef you put in a stew. The cheese board was tiny, the bread tasted as it had been leftover for a few days. My guest ordered the burger and it was extremely bland!
Sazerac, use to be here, and I wish it would come back, as overpriced as it was at least you got food that was close to what you paid for.
I usually do not leave comments, but I felt I must in this case.
