We were staying at the Hotel Monaco. We decided to try out this restaurant next door. Our waiter was really unfriendly, unhelpful, rude and arrogant. When we asked any questions about the menu, he made us feel like we were annoying him. He made it clear that he would do no substitutions. There were a number of comments he made that were inappropriate and borderline nasty. The food was average. Crab/shrimp salad a disappointment . Mussels were fine, as were the brussel sprouts. They charge $4 for a small plate of substandard bread. The cocktails tasted watered down. Altogether a disappointing experience .
From the cocktails, appetizers, main course, and service was a perfect 10. Love this restaurant
The menu had been made considerably smaller and less innovative since our first time there. The food felt very overpriced for what it was, which was basically tasty but uncreative and uninteresting.
A memorable dining experience!
I had one of the best burgers I've ever had! "Outlier" Cheeseburger american cheese, PLOT, smokey island. The sauce on it was amazing as well and the burger stayed juicy until the last bite!
Our server John was fantastic, which set the tone for a great brunch. The food and drinks were as good as advertised.
Service was great food was good
The drinks were average but their Korean fried chicken wings were amazing! So tasty and would definitely order again.
The Outlier was great experience that we enjoyed very much. Great menu, great food and a great staff in a wonderfully fun an comfortable setting.
I ordered a burger for lunch and with the first bite I found it to be excessively salty, and I like salt on my food. Upon delivery to the table, part of the bottom bun was soggy from meat juice, making it challenging to eat because it was very messy and falling apart. I'd suggest they drain off some of the meat juice and perhaps toast the bun to help with this. The kitchen was kind enough to grill some onions for me, which they don't usually do, so I was grateful for that, but I think they added a lot of grease, contributing to the problem. I had salad on the side instead of fries. The ingredients were fresh but I couldn't taste or see any dressing, so it was kind of flavorless. Overall, a disappointing meal, and I won't be back because I think their lunch menu is odd (the burger was the only option for me).
Great cocktails! The food was solid. The mushroom side (which i was SUPER looking forward to!) was way too salty :/
The food and service was great however they stuck us by a table up by the door and it was cold. I had made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance so was disappointed in where they sat us.
Totally fine all around
It’s fast simple and generally open. Limited menu, so can’t go that often
Great food and service! Our waiter was very attentive and made sure that each one of our special order requests were delivered correctly to the table.
Food was outstanding, waiter was friendly and very thorough. It was my wife’s 20th wedding anniversary and couldn’t of went to a better place thanks
I (and my staff) love this restaurant - for a casual meal, an important client meal - or just for a drink. Great service, food is spectacular! Love the place.
We all loved the comfortable, relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The seafood cobb salad was refreshing and paired nicely with the mushroom pizza, making a nice split lunch for two. Also we all loved their version of the French 74. Service was well-timed and friendly.
The food was wonderful and our server was awesome!! He recommended a great glass of wine to go with my food and we wanted for nothing. The hostess was not friendly or welcoming AT ALL which was odd for being a Kimpton employee. All in all, I would definitely eat here again.
This was a wonderful evening with some great food- my friend totally flipped over the coconut mussels. Our waitress was lovely too! I cannot say enough great things about this place. Cheers!
great lunch, great service.
recommend for business lunch.
I liked the cozy small corner style booths - nice for conversation for the two of us. I enjoyed the "Market Fish" (mahi mahi) and my husband had the steak and frites. We easily split a dessert of ginger ice cream on a blondie. I was delighted to see a Kir Royale on the happy hour menu as I hadn't had one in years - it didn't disappoint. As more people arrived, the restaurant got much louder - something I'm finding in many restaurants and wish they would do more to dim the crowd sounds.
Noise when a corporate event began. Would have been fine without them. This was a Friday evening.
Service was slow. Food was bad and highly overpriced. Would not recommend it.
We visited Outlier prior to the symphony one evening so we were on a fixed time schedule but had plenty of time. The ambiance is nice; typical open kitchen and floor plan so it is noisy but not prohibitive. The staff were excellent; we never had to wait for anything, plates were cleared timely, but we really didn't know they were there. The food was surprisingly good as well; flavors and combinations were well balanced, portions were appropriate, everything was very fresh and seasonings did not overpower the dish. The only thing that was a negative was a surcharge that was added to the bill to cover Seattle's $15/hr labor rate. It was not noted on the menu but after raising the issue to management it was appropriately dealt with. I do have high praise for management who took the feedback and immediately addressed the issue. We will visit outlier again.
The drinks were over price, but the food was delicious and the service was great. Didn't know that the valentine special you had to have. A bit pricey but great food and the portions were perfect; not too big.
I enjoy Outlier as a place to eat with coworkers, it's good food at a reasonable price. Yesterday, February 6th, we had a possible hire on-site to join us for lunch and meeting, and decided to go to Outlier. We all ordered burgers, medium rare, as an aside. While we were waiting for food to show up, the restaurant started getting smoky, more than normal. We joked that it was our burgers burning causing the smoke.
When our food showed up, it proved that I was right. My burger had about 1/8 that was medium rare, the rest was burnt. I didn't want to complain, simply because we had a prospective employee with us, but it was fairly disappointing.
Great service, the food is always good. Unique but not uncomfortable. My favorite place to sit down for lunch on a weekday!
I love this restaurant. Food is great and consistently so. The decor is very cool!
I've never had a bad dining experience at any of the Kimpton hotels in Seattle - but this is my favorite for small plates dinner. Attentive service, interesting cuisine and great ambience! I think I might take to alternating between staying at Hotel Vintage and Hotel Monaco (where this restaurant is)
Quality and delicious food for a good price. The steak frites and Thai Chicken curry were delicious. The Blondie dessert was also amazing.
Great group dinner spot. Food was unexpectedly good - eclectic menu, well prepared. Drinks great and service on point.
We made reservations and came in right on time and no one acknowledged us for a long time. We waited over 20 minutes for our table after we noticed several people being helped that came after us get a table and they completely forgot about our reservations. They quickly had to push some tables around to get us seated. Other than that the service was good, and food was good.
Overall an experience with repeating. The food was unique and delightful however they felt a bit understaffed for New Year’s Eve. It should be noted the food was a tad pricey so beware.
The Saturday brunch that we had at Outlier was a bit underwhelming. We found the food to be a little more expensive than it needed along with the fact that the place was under staffed.
Hotel restaurant, with overpriced food and poor service. The space is nice, we came to dine before seeing a show at the 5th, and had a early reservation so the dining room was mostly empty. There were people at the bar for happy hour. With an open kitchen, and plenty of staff, only two tables to serve, or service was nonexistent. Server was not able to answer menu questions and did not go and ask someone else to get answers, so we ordered and did not see server again until food was served. No drink refills, nothing. The food was well prepared and all of our dishes was good. Nothing was great, steak frites had nicely fried potatoes that were not seasoned at all. Swordfish prep was simple and seasoned well. Porkchop was cooked perfectly, the prep was messy, difficult to eat, and bland.
Not a horrible experience, the meal was OK. For the price point, very underwhelmed. Would possibly go back for happy hour, but not for dinner.
The worst restaurant experience in Seattle since we moved here. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks from the order. Appetizer came before our drinks. Service was unfriendly. Food was the quality of a local diner.
We chose the Outlier since it was in the Hotel Monaco we were staying for Christmas Eve. We had dinner around 8 pm and they were busy and it looked pretty under staffed. We were seated to the far side of the dining room and we think this contributed to our waiter being pretty distracted and not attentive. The cocktails took way too long, we would see our food being prepared then it would sit way too long up on the counter before it was brought to us, one entree was not entered in the computer so it never came, but they gave it to us at the end for no charge. Overall we definitely recommend the Outlier if you are staying in the Hotel or close by, but it wouldn't be a destination choice. Food was excellent definitely a 4.5.
The food and drinks were good but they sat us in the back and it took the server almost 20 minutes to find us. During the meal the server did not check on us almost at all, it took a really long time to get us our drinks, when those drinks were empty we had to get up and flag down the server to come take the order for another drink which took another 20 minutes to arrive. During that time the server didn't come to tell us why anything was taking so long so we got up again to ask the bartender ourselves what was going on. Then finally we got the last drink and we told him to bring the check right then because we didn't know when we'd see him again. Great food but at those prices service should be good to spectacular, not worse than your average Red Robin.
I had been to Outlier previously for a weekday lunch and had an exceptional meal and service. I expected the same for our Sunday brunch outing but was quite disappointed. The service not only was slow, our server was quite inattentive. Fewer stars on value as the food was good but not great for the price. Given my previous experience, I’d try it again for a weekday lunch.
