Ouisie's continues to provide ambience, excellent service, and delicious food, time after time.
It was fine. If there was a special for the evening, our waiter did not tell us. I had to ask for bread twice because it was never brought to us. My guest (who had never been here before) even asked, “so do they only bring you bread if you ask for it?” It was her birthday and the waiter didn’t attempt to bring her a cake. I’ve been here several times but perhaps because it was early (which is still not really a reason), the service wasn’t that great. The food was great though and the host and hostesses were all very kind.
Food this trip was blah and our service was far less than mediocre
Amazing food, service and ambiance! There was live piano music that topped off the wonderful dinner!
Great food and awesome service. Service has old school attention to detail. Always a favorite.
Lovely place for Mother’s Day brunch. The service was spot on.
We were there for Mother’s Day. . Food, service & atmosphere was wonderful. My first time, but will definitely go back.
Long time fan of food and ambiance, since their beginnings. However, the hostess/host staff are almost always an issue to deal with, disarray, confusion, lack of training. This is customers first contact with restaurant, need to get it right.
Noisy, understaffed and food temperature lukewarm temperature when served. Staff nice and apologetic. We would not come back on a holiday again.
I've already posted my remarks on social media. This visit to Ouisies' Table was a disappointment. I've been there many times over the years and thought it would be a good spot for Mother's day and a birthday celebration. Negative issues:
1. Open Table did not communicate my special seating request (away from the piano).
2. The corn chowder I ordered came as gumbo - but I did not to make a scene and did not complain.
3. The $30 fish special(Red Snapper with spicy mango salsa) was not good. it was served skin side up with the mango salsa on top. I'm not a fan of fish skin or the nerve material under it. So I had to separate the salsa from the skin and nerve material. Poor presentation and not very good, especially as a "Special".
4. The service was quite slow, although there was a wedding party which understandably kept the wait staff very busy.
I've bragged about Ouisies' to my wife and mother in law for years. Finally getting them there was a big disappointment.
Ouisie's Table is a priceless gem. I would recommend this place to any and everyone I know.
What an exceptional time and food we had for a Mother's Day celebration for the women in our family. There was not one complaint and there were 14 women. Now that says a lot. The food was prepared and served impeccably; the service was undeniably excellent. And to top it off, the valet was on their game, service with a smile. For the first time I ordered the cornmeal pancakes with maple bacon and it was ummm good. I had been at least 5 years since I was last there, well the menu had changed but not the quality of it all.
I have been at Ouisie's twice this past month for business meetings. Both times, the food has been excessively peppered, making it too spicy to eat. Even my salad was full of pepper. The salad dressing was watery and flavorless, the greens soggy and wilted. I will not be returning.
Outstanding, as usual!
I enjoyed the menu in celebration of the restaurant's anniversary with prices from its original year. The food was delicious, but the service was unacceptably slow. There were few diners in the restaurant at the time, so I could not understand the wait.
An institution in Houston. The food is always good, service is fantastic. It is an easy, comfortable restaurant to go visit.
Coming home to visit
I feel like I'm in New Orleans at Ouisie's. They have the most wonderful Brunch menu. Service is always spot on.
Ouisie’s was fabulous as usual! We’ve been there many times before, but it’s always a treat. Outstanding staff, and the food is AWESOME!
Great cuisine and service in a casual to semi-formal atmosphere. Please note that most parking is valet. Enjoy indoor or outdoor seating.
I took two colleagues for a business lunch to celebrate awards. We waited 40-45 minutes for our food! Our waitress, Mona, was not very attentive or friendly for that matter. While the food was good, it was not exceptional. My potatoes were luke warm. One pat of butter for 3 people? The man serving the bread hit me with the tray! I had to ask Mona to bring the dessert tray when she asked if we wanted to order it. I will likely not return--there are much better restaurants with much better service!
The service was extremely slow
Great restaurant with a nice selection of food at reasonable prices.
We had an excellent meal (i had the scallops) - the service was excellent and the surroundings are very convivial and not noisy - it was a pleasure to enjoy the fine food, wine and conversation without having to deal with loud background noise. I would thoroughly recommend the restaurant.
Great food, knowledgeable wait staff, and a wonderful leisurely meal.
We all had seafood and the crepe brûlée was amazing!
In a few words...the food was not very good. Lamb chops were over cooked. Paella had no flavor. Desserts were blah.
I have many good experiences at Quisie's. This time the review is mixed. I ordered the scallops. They were slightly undercooked for my liking but the risotto was superb.
My wife ordered the curry. She asked for chicken to be substituted for the shrimp and was very disappointed to discover that it was fried chicken...in a curry? It looked like someone chopped up the chicken fried chicken and tossed it in. All in all The service was excellent as always but it was quite noisy.
I have never had a bad experience here, every time is perfect. The valets are fast and friendly, the hosts are great, and wait staff are professional and polite. The food is always top notch. The selections are great and the twist on classic dishes are fantastic.
I made reservations for a friend's birthday. We were a party of 3. One of us ordered the shrimp and grits, I was told it was pretty delicious. The birthday girl ordered the asparagus omelet, she didn't mention anything about it, so I'm guessing it was mediocre. I had the french toast with walnuts. They used Texas Toast to make the french toast. I had never had a terrible french toast until I came here. The middle of the bread with soggy like a tres leche. I only ate the crust of the toast. Please correct this! French toast is toooooo easy to make to have this kind of mistake made. All in all, my friends enjoyed their mimosas. Not sure if I would come again. The price of the food was costly in comparison to the portion of the meals. I was hungry 30 minutes later. I guess because I only ate the crust of the french toast. If I do come again, then it would be to try the shrimp and grits.
Great hospitality. Comfortable atmosphere. The Mac and Cheese is out of this world!
The food the service the restaurant was great 4 I business breakfast meeting.
Beautiful restaurant with creative and good food. Feels like a ladies luncheon place with the formally dressed waiters but the menu offers a variety of food choices that would satisfy anyone's palate. Only negative but this is with mosts restaurants; once the bill is paid the waiter never comes back to refill water or coffee. I don't understand why they can't make that one last offer.
This was a late Sunday lunch for a total of 7 friends, ourselves included. Once we actually got our reserved table after a 15 minute wait, everything went fine. They were very busy, so it was not easy to talk. The live piano music was a nice touch and the food was excellent. Wait staff were friendly and didn't rush us despite the busy hour. My wife and I have been here for an anniversary dinner and it was much more relaxed. In general, I think this is a great restaurant, but I'll avoid it in the future during the Sunday brunch / lunch period.
The noise level in the restaurant was off the charts. There was a private party in a portion of the restaurant with only a thin curtain between, and the party was excessively loud. Despite having a reservation, there wasn't a table set for us, and the service was slow.
The 3 stars have nothing to do with the meal, waiter, ambiance, etc. This was a special occasion brunch. We arrived a 11:30 and were promptly seated. We were finished eating at about 1:00 and paid the check shortly thereafter. We were visiting amongst our selves when the manager (?) came to the table and asked "if there was anything else we needed". We said no thank you and his response was "good, we have a reservation waiting for the table"!!! Are you kidding me!!! Very disappointing--no class at all. They were busy, however we were probably only 5 minutes after paying the check when he approached, obviously to push us out. We like Ouisie's for brunch and will likely return. I only wished I wasn't so stunned and had told him what I thought of his rudeness.
Great service / food as usual.
The bread service, salad, and dessert was good. Both entrees that we got were just okay and while the fresh was fresh, it was not properly seasoned. The mashed potatoes had no flavor. It was edible but not at all worth the price.
Delightful for Sunday brunch and valet parking is reasonably priced.
Following menu items enjoyed:
Shrimp and avocado salad (this is an entree sized portion)
