Known by generations for her hospitality, proprietress Elouise Adams Jones, a.k.a. Ouisie, serves an eclectic collection of Southern foods with an excellent wine list to match. High ceilings and fans in the main dining room it evoke the ambiance of a Texas manor house. The adjacent dining porch overlooking the patio and garden, as well as Cooper’s Wine Bin, provide additional dining and entertaining areas. The daily fare encompasses traditional offerings like her well-loved pimento cheese, the shrimp and grits, and the popular Gulf Coast oysters to the favorite Tuesday special Ouisie’s award winning chicken fried steak with corn pudding. A fine plate of grilled Prime beef tenderloin or a brace of quail stuffed with super lump crab meat with Cognac glaze are good examples of the daily specials one might find on the blackboard.
Lunch and dinner daily, brunch on weekends.

Chose Ouisie’s Table for a pre-ballet brunch on Saturday. It was perfect! Our server was attentive and went out of his way to make our experience outstanding. We each had a starter cocktail. They were delicious and reasonably priced. We followed up with French toast with walnuts and the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and mustard greens. Both were flavored and presented beautifully. The portion sizes weren’t overwhelming, but still nicely sized. Dessert was spectacular and paired perfectly with a nice hot cup of coffee. It was a great meal and is one we’ll repeat

Consistent quality and service you can count on. And always something new on the menu to try that not only has a beautiful presentation but tastes unique as well. Just loved the parmesan-crusted shrimp with jalapeno mashed potatoes.

Great food and excellent service. This restaurant never disappoints. Service was attentive without hovering. Able to accommodate my dietary requests without a problem.
One of my favorite restaurants to dine in Houston.

The restaurant was very romantic and cozy. The food was excellent overall. I was not a big fan of the squash-like side that came with the duck confit but everything else on the plate was good. The rainbow trout was very well-prepared with the Parmesan crust. The appetizer of mushroom risotto stuffed jalapeños and an apricot sauce was unexpectedly fantastic. We ordered it out of curiosity but it was delicious. My complaint about the dessert (which I maybe should have expected) was that it was far too pricey for what we received. $6.50 for a dinky cup of chocolate mousse that was mostly whipped cream? They called it pot de creme on the receipt, so perhaps we were paying for the fancy name and we didn’t know. The profiterolls were great though. The waiters were quite attentive, but not overly so, and they did an exceptional job. All in all it was superb.

We went for Sunday brunch. Maybe we were unlucky in that our table was between 2 very noisy groups but the overall noise level was really annoying, there were 3 of us and we had to shout accross our table to be able to hear eachother. The crab cakes were not good and it was fairly pricy. Would NOT recommend it

Our first time back in a while and we loved it. Fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared. Charming high-ceilinged room with excellent lighting and a welcoming bar. Service was excellent. There were lots of birthdays the night we dined, and it's easy to see why. There was a pianist that night; a good idea in theory, but added to room noise (which is otherwise not loud) rather than added romance. We'll be back -- can't wait.

I had eggs benedict. I thought the ham was too thin and the muffin too chewy. I had a side of cheese grits which I thought were too thick and not warm enough.

Was there for dinner with friends. Calamari apps were delicious as were our beer & Chardonnay. For dinner, the men had fish & the ladies had lamb. Everything was perfectly prepared & most delicious. As always, the service was perfect & our waiter was helpful in helping us choose our entrees & dessert. Ouisie’s Table never disappoints & we recommend it for any occasion.

I took my Mother and wife here for my mother’s birthday (Brunch), everything was top notch from the Ambiance to the food. My party was on time and we were seated promptly. My server was an older gentleman who was friendly helpful and very polite. The piano music was mellow and set the mood. The food was served quickly and everything was as we requested. I will be back!!!

Quite the Friday evening at Ouisie’s Table! I definitely want to highlight the excellent work of the wait staff. There were two wedding events, a rehearsal dinner, and they still found room for other diners. Amazing that they were attentive and food came out of the kitchen hot and well prepared. Father in law thought his fish was a bit salty(he said that this happens a lot - he likes less salt - but he didn’t ask for low salt), but I found my ribeye quite nice -there was a chalk board special HUGE steak with special seasoning, and they were willing to put that on their regular size steak for me. That earns a gold star. They also have a great kids menu..

This is an excellent restaurant and a good value. I am impressed that they make their wine affordable as well. Another gold star.

Food was very slow to come out but was quite good. The house was more than half empty but service was unacceptably slow. Two of three drinks I ordered through arrival to the end of dinner were really slow. I had to ask a second time for the only cocktail we ordered and for coffee. They were just not that busy to make so many fundamental errors. Not good enough for Houston. That’s probably why the crowd is older and loyal and not a newer clientele.

On this day we were put in the main dining room where there was a private party using a microphone!! It was incredibly loud and hard to hear the person sitting right next to you. Also the piano player was very loud. Do not recommend the main dining room when it is full or having parties.

Everything was delicious! I don't know why we don't come here more often! The service was outstanding too, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because he just brought the check to us after we finished our meals and wine, rather than offer us dessert and coffee.
