Several of my co-workers and I celebrated a birthday luncheon this afternoon at Ouisie’s and it was, as expected, absolutely perfect. This restaurant exceeds every expectation every visit. It’s one of the most fabulous places to dine for any occasion.
Ouisies is one of our all-time favorites in Houston. This visit was a bit disappointing.
Firstly, the good: Service was top-notch, as always. Attentive but not obtrusive. My two sons ordered steak, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. My wife ordered a Inn salad with crabmeat, which she loved.
My daughter and I both ordered halibut, and were both disappointed. The fish was over cooked and dry. The zucchini and yellow squash was undercooked — not even qualifying as al dente.
It was a very good experience
My wife and I love dining at Ouisie's, we always enjoy our time spent there.
One of our benchmark restaurants in Houston - always good service, food and attitude.
Great menu, great food, great service and we love the piano music !
Excellent experience as usual. Farris , our waiter , was great.
In Houston for business, found this restaurant through OpenTable - it was fantastic! Excellent food, ambience, service.
The best happy hour in Houston. The drinks, the food and the service was sheer perfection. Ouisie’s is known for its fabulous food but take a break from the hustle and bustle of Houston and relaxed in an upscale setting for a superb happy hour.
I have been there before and the food was good. This time the chicken was terrible and my friend did not like her pasta either. The room was very loud with a large group celebrating five birthdays.
We enjoyed our brunch, the service was impeccable.
I took a friend here for a birthday lunch and I had remembered it as being a reliably good place but we were a bit disappointed in the food. We shared the little crab cakes as a starter and they were pretty bland and forgettable. Then they asked if we wanted clam chowder as if it were included with the entree and we all said yes and at first I was surprised at how watery it was instead of the thick chowder I expected but the flavor was quite good. I had the pan seared red snapper with lentils which was another bland dish with the fish being over cooked and dry. It’s almost made me think the fish had been previously frozen. The shrimp and grits was a better choice but there are other places in town, like Frank’s which is close by, that make it better. The chocolate pot de creme I had for dessert was perfect and the carrot cake was pretty good. The service is still very good but the food isn’t as good as it used to be. Either that or they were having a bad day in the kitchen.
Great food and EXCELLENT SERVICE! Highly recommend...
Ouisie's is one of the best lunch spots inside the Loop. Professional and friendly service (Thank you, Juan Carlos), elegant setting, with just a hum of conviviality - making it possible to have a conversation without shouting! I also found it pleasant and unique that there was not a television in sight! Reasonable prices for a great value on classics like the Texas Crab Cobb Salad! Delicious and almost too beautiful to eat. My friends enjoyed the scallop salad and the snapper tacos. Reliable neighborhood gem.
Excellent food excellent service even down to the valet service. Treated like a valued customer. Will always recommend
I’ve been to this restaurant before and had a great experience. Our waiter was excellent, the food was great and the host was very welcoming. Unfortunately my last visit was not as good, which is a shame because we were celebrating my mom’s bday. Our waitress was not attentive at all. The espresso machine was new but not installed - this is for Sunday brunch! The hot water served for tea was like warm ... $3.50 for a tea bag! And unfortunately the food was not as good as i know it can be. Please be consistent with the great service and cuisine. The restaurants ambience is very nice and dining there could be a memorable experience if the quality is kept to a high standard.
Everything was great. Especially enjoy the 3 little muffin/breads. Great ambiance. Upscale surroundings at reasonable prices. Everything we have ordered so far has been great. Correct portions too
Always a great place to meet friends for lunch. I requested a quiet table & they were happy to accommodate. Food was delicious ( I had scallops) & the wait staff very attentive.
The service experience was lacking. Not sure why but not typical of them. Will be back.
Wonderful restaurant. Delicious food, good service and lovely ambiance. Also quiet so you can enjoy your meal and conversation with a companion.
We had reservations on a Sunday at 11:45am and they had many large parties there which made the room very noisy. My select was only to say 'energetic' but I would consider it noisy and difficult to handle a conversation. Also, because there were many large parties, the service was very slow. Several times we had to call our waiter over to take our order, get bread, etc. Perhaps the restaurant should add another waiter or two when they know they are having such large parties at one time. Otherwise, the food was delicious and I would definitely go back.
Lovely place, but our food came out late and NOT hot. Disappointed with the food overall.
Amazing food, experience. Everything. Go.
Very disappointing visit to a usually splendid brunch venue. The very large wedding party the restaurant had booked for brunch usurped the entire main dining room and the adjacent terrace leaving only a tiny side room to accommodate the usual brunch crowd. The room was packed to the gills with an extremely loud group of diners so that, when the noise generated by this group was combined with the noise emanating from the wedding party, the decibel level matched that of a leaf blower. The staff was mainly concerned with the wedding party, which left the crowd that had come for brunch with very poor service. We will come again for the usual great food and efficient service; but management should have warned of the circumstances so that we might have chosen an alternate place for brunch this time.
Had a fantastic brunch on Saturday - the food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful.
Fabulous food, superb service and nice ambiance
The Chilean sea bass with polenta was one of the best things I have had at Ouisie's.
Our server was amazing! He was funny and attentive and accommodating! He definitely made the experience great! The piano player that day was playing good music and make the ambiance very nice as well. Food and drinks were good. We definitely enjoyed our visit and had a great time!
Flavorless food. Very mediocre quality and presentation. Over hyped.
Hostess sat us between a 7 top and 6 top, both cackling, loud women. There were lots of open tables in the front section of the room. I did complain and nothing was done to rectify the situation. We could not even carry on a conversation. The bread with the Eggs Benedict was hard, my lunch companion asked for a steak knife to cut it. The seafood crepes were dry. I did not even eat half of it. My son asked for cheddar or American cheese without any condiments on his burger, and the waiter brought the burger with Swiss cheese and tons of green ruffage. We looked at it dismayed, and he said, “That’s the way the kitchen gave it to me.” I felt the service was robotic, rushed and totally unwelcoming. And, the hostess was an idiot. She then sat a table for two next to the door leading to a private room with a large party for a one year old that was quite noisy when the front part of the dining room was completely. I felt very sorry for the two women sitting where they could not hear, and where the waiters were rushing back in front of them. Very disappointinng experience all the way around. We will not return.
Great waiter, great food, loved the pianist choice of music, very accommodating!
We were really looking forward to Ouisie's but it disappointed us. First, they tried to push a wine on us that we really didn't want. It was awkward and unusual. The food was mediocre. Oysters had a weird, shell like crust, although the oysters were good. Crepes were mushy and tasteless. Chicken and trout were good. Ambiance was good except for uncomfortable wait staff. Finally, although we'd checked "anniversary" on the Open Table form, there was no mention of it by the staff. I don't think I'd go there again.
Once again we had a marvelous experience. All aspects of our lunch were great !
I have been to Ouisie's Table often. It is the one and only restaurant in Houston that I can always comfortably recommend to everyone without a problem
Their food is always outstanding, service impeccable and the value is excellent.
You can try all of the high end 6 month wonders that are typical of Houston who all claim to be "The" restaurant. Go there to bee seen. But if you want excellent food, great atmosphere and considerate service that elevates you instead of "The" restaurant, then be loyal to yourself, show your love to your special ones and celebrate both at Quisie's Table. Rock steady.
Wonderful atmosphere, magnificent service. I live in Buda, Texas and eat at Ouisie’s every time I come to Houston.
Nice to go to Lunch or Dinner and be able to hear everyone at your table!! Food is good and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are dining in a home, not a noisy bustling bistro!!
Everything is delicious! This is one of my favorite brunch spots!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I love the ambiance and services levels here. Plus they have amazing drinks and food. Highly recommend if you are looking to try high quality southern food and/or great seafood.
Had brunch with a business colleague. Great atmosphere for such.
