We were sat right away, and the staff was friendly and the right amount of attentive. Food was good, but kind of typical Brooklyn/new American, so for the price it seemed high. Excluding the foie gras—that was worth the price 😀 wouldn’t make it my neighborhood go-to based on price but would definitely keep it in mind when we have money to spend. Overall we had a great dinner!
We are foodies and have been to many fine dining establishments across the world. So we were surprised when despite asking and giving a preference and stated reason to want either the duck or steak cooked a little above medium, she flatly refused. That is disappointing and a bit pretentious. The only other option I had was the fish. Was decent but unfortunate to go to a recommended restaurant and not be able to get your food cooked how you want
We have lived in this area for over 40 years and never had a local restaurant at this level. The creative dishes (an ethereal uni omelet, for example, was perfectly done, not a speck of brown on the airy, flavorful egg balanced with the fresh saline uni. Nice work!!
Service was friendly even though the room was packed on this Saturday night. Our second time there and look forward to becoming regulars. Best of luck to Otway

My dinner at Otway was one of the best meals of my life. HIGH recommend!!!! The owners are so great. If they have uni on the menu, definitely get it. And the bread is fantastic.
We sat at the bar.... It was amazing.
Well thought-out, beautifully plated simple dishes for brunch. Attentive, courteous waiters.
Great food with an intelligent approach. Some dishes were incredible (yeast semifreddo dessert, the duck) and others were a bit over powering (chickpeas- salt burn!) or underwhelming (escargot- lack of flavor), but all in all we appreciated the attention to ingredients and creative approach. Drinks were spot on. Service was excellent.
A little gem in the neighbourhood, excellent service, incredible place.
Lovely vibrant atmosphere, delicious fresh produce, and delicate, beautifully balanced flavors. A superb dining experience.
While not the cheapest place in the neighborhood the food made the price well worth it. The preparation was interesting and beautiful. The food was so delicious I found myself talking about it the next day. This restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood. I highly recommend it for the delicious food and wonderful experience.
A few issues- chef not willing to prepare steak beyond medium. My wife had the vegetable pot-au-feu for $24 was a very small serving. I had the veal breast special, which was half fat. The drinks were good, as was the chicken liver and fois gras, which comes with a glass of sauternes.
Managed to snag a reservation on the early Side of a Saturday night (7:15pm). It definitely got busier as the night went on so highly recommend reservations during peak times. We sat at the communal table. Bread and butter was excellent as was the service. We ended up staying for nearly 3 hours. While prices are closer to a special occasion spot, the vibe is very warm and inviting like a neighborhood joint. Food was tasty - consider ordering the carrot appetizer and sea bream. Artic char appetizer special was very nice as well.
Superb service in very pleasant environment. The wine list is excellent and several wines by the glass, which are very reasonably priced, are unusual blends or grapes. this is a special treat as usually the "different " wines are not available by the glass. The appetizers and snacks were the high lit of the meal --exceptional in variety and taste. The mains were less so, especially after the fantastic appetizers.
The big annoyance- were the email and text reminders- about 6 in the last 2 days before the reservation including a text reminding me of the reservation 30 minutes before the time.
Look forward to a repeat but will do so by phone and indicate I do not have an email.
The food was delicious and inventive, and the service was superb. Great great restaurant.
This place is amazing. Uni crepe and bites are amazing. I've been four times since they opened.
We celebrated our engagement with Otway and we're treated wonderfully by the chef and staff. With the delicious food came party poppers. Amazing night we'll never forget.
Great place for quality meat dishes. Staff is very courteous and chef is sweet.
Best new place in Brooklyn! Food, decor, service, drinks--all spot on. Special, yet casual. Very well priced for a restaurant in its class, too.
Food is outstanding. The vibe is pretty great. Only downside is that they will not accommodate kids - simplifying a pasta wasn't even a question the server would ask of the chef (and wasn't particularly nice about it). We would go many times a week if they were slightly more kid friendly.
