The food was very well prepared. Really nice flavors. Recommend the Salmon in Grape Leaves. Eating on the 2nd floor of the “house” is a little short on ambience. If that is what you are after eat in the bar.
Attentive service. Excellent wine list. Had the Mediterranean sampler entree. Food was delicious, especially the deserts.
Excellent food, exceeded expectations. Everyone in party of 6 had different entree and each said it was delicious
Great service, good food and wonderful setting
Excellent as usual.
Excellent Mediterranean menu featuring duck, lamb, chicken, scallops and steak. In addition they have a weekly chef tasting menu. Adam provided excellent service ( as always). Chef Karl’s tasting menu this week had excellent lobster corn chowder, perfectly cooked pork medallions with couscous salad and salted caramel gelato. Perfect anniversary dinner
Awesome place with excellent food! I’ve visited several times and have not had a bad meal.
It was a great time . Will do it again. Fun and great quality
I always love Otto’s! I was just in town for a few days and I always love going there. My favorite is the Mediterranean pasta and a cosmo. The very best.
My wife and I went to Otto's for our anniversary dinner. We had a great time. I ordered the 12 oz. ribeye medium rare and it came a tad on the medium side for my taste but still was excellent. My wife ordered the lamb chops and they were perfect, as was everything else we were served, including the french green beans, sauteed mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, ciabatta rolls and the Napoleon dessert. Our server, Gwen, was excellent and unobtrusive. We were seated in the back of the restaurant where it was quiet. The outdoor patio had live music. It would have been difficult to have a conversation where they were playing.
It was a perfect summer evening on the patio listening to Westside Andy and Glen Davis Duo spin some yarns and play blues/folk. The wait staff was courteous, cheerful, and helpful, and the chef's choice menu was delicious all the way from appetizer to dessert. We will be back to listen to Gerri DiMaggio and enjoy another chef's choice dinner.
Excellent restaurant for very good food and a quiet atmosphere.
Great. Excellent meals.
Good experience- food was served on time and everything was presented well ; hot and tasty.
Otto's is like a well tailored suit. It's always a good fit. Love this restaurant.
What an amazing experience! Bar service was exceptionally professional from both the owner and Jeff. Start with a charcueterie plate and end with Otto's Brandy Alexander! The ciopinno special was fresh, flavorful, and a good portion. The atmosphere and the other diners were very enjoyable. This place is perfect for date night.
Consistently meets all expectations in menu, service, selection, ambiance. We have literally never had a bad meal there!
I don't know what I was expecting but they knocked it out the park. My husband and I both ordered steaks and I told the server to let the cooks know it was amazing. It was melt in your mouth amazing. The mashed potatoes were better than I make at home and they are one of my specialties.
Food was great and our waitress, Jessica, was exceptional. First time we ate at Otto's; we'll be back for sure.
Otto’s never disappoints. Reliably good service, excellent food, professional waitstaff and they always have my favorite table available. It’s our go to date night spot.
My husband embraces the Mediterranean menu enjoying kofte, Duck, lamb and fish dishes. I come for the scallops. They are so good it’s pretty much all I order. Nicely charred, just done, served with tender crisp asparagus and the best risotto I’ve ever had. Why would I order anything else? The mussel appetizer is also a joy to behold as is the white chocolate bread pudding.
They recently increased their prices so this may become a special occasion restaurant instead of an everyday restaurant. But it’s well worth visiting.
As always. Consistently wonderful. Food is excellent. Service is impeccable.
Waitstaff, as always, was excellent.
Drinks, food, service was great. One loud person in the dining room got to be a little hard to take, but we realize not much can be done to control things like this. Overall another great evening.
We had a lovely dinner and were delighted to have Quinn, our favorite server, attending to us. It became harder to hear as the dining room got more crowded, but that won’t dissuade us from returning to one of Madison’s top fine dining spots.
Guaranteed excellent food. Mediterranean menu featuring lamb, Fish, scallops, chicken and tenderloin. Chef Karl mixes it up with a weekly 3 course tasting menu which changes weekly. One of our favorite servers is Quinn and she took good care of us. During the summer they have live jazz on the patio. A great way to enjoy a weekday evening
You can choose indoor or outdoor seating. Indoor seating is in the dining area or the bar area. The staff are super friendly. Service is outstanding. The food is some of the best in Madison -- seasoned and cooked to perfection. This is a great place because the atmosphere is informal, and the food is wonderful.
Went for my wife’s birthday. A very nice dinner, and a pleasant experience!
Great meal, wonderful service. Highly recommend.
This is the kind of place that serves ice berg lettuce and overcooks everything. The bland food is designed for a geriatric core of regulators. We asked for a quiet table location because one of our party is hard of hearing. The problem is that everyone is screaming in the restaurant because no one can hear. Overpriced and unimpressive. Bad value.
Otto's, a private home converted into a restaurant, wound up being a great choice for our anniversary dinner. Small dining room, a mature and experienced wait staff that knows the difference between being attentive and a constant interruption. Quality entrees, and the sorbet for dessert was outstanding.
Service was outstanding and we ordered her personal favorites and loved the scallop salad and seafood trio. The patio ambiance was lovely,.
Have been coming for years- brought visitors this time who were very impressed. Ottos never disappoints!
A wonderful evening with excellent food--nice new patio area, patio and porch.
Order the steak rarer than usual as they cook a medium more to a medium well.
We ate on the patio rooftop, a large group at a nearby table was a little loud, but other than that it was a great night and great atmosphere. Food was excellent, service was great and overall just had a great dining experience.
We've been Madison residents for years, yet this was our first time at Otto's. Don't know why we waited until now. Food, service, quiet setting, excellent! Yes, I would definitely recommend this to a friend. And we'll definitely return and likely bring friends.
Very loud in main dining area. Food is very good as always. Service excellent . Would like a little more privacy with dining experience.
Excellent tasting menu this week but for the second visit in a row we we let down by barely adequate service. Between my husband and I we ordered the whole tasting menu. The food was excellent as always (Karl’s scallops are always six stars). We ordered the wine pairings with the tasting menu. The first course was brought out with some bread. We didn’t get the wine. It was a busy night due to jazz on the patio. We kept looking for our waitress, Mindy, to remind her to bring our wine. After awhile we gave up and had our first course without the wine pairing. Later she showed up to ask how the food was. We mentioned the lack of wine and she brought it right out with a lackluster apology. The main course was put in front of us quickly and she was off. No time to mention that we’d asked for the lamb without the goat cheese. Since the service was less than attentive we didn’t have a chance to rectify the mistake. We scraped off the goat cheese and celebrated the fact that we got the wine pairings with this course. When Mindy came to clear our plates we mentioned that we had requested no goat cheese and showed her the pile left on the plate. She shrugged her shoulders and said it was Karl’s (the head chef and owner) birthday and he was on the patio. I’m guessing that’s where Mindy was hanging out instead of paying attention to her customers.
Service is usually five star as they have a seasoned professional staff that we are used to having. The lapse in service we’ve received recently seem to be new hires. Go for the food, jazz and hope that the newbies realize they’re working for tips.
Always impressed with the staff and food is second to none.
Great food. we ordered the calimari appetizer because it is supposed to be the best calimari in town—it was. We also had the crab cakes and the three dips with high quality pita (there were 4 of us). My husband and I split the Mediterranean grill platter and we had plenty to eat with just a half portion each. We had no room for dessert. Our server was perfect—food arrived hot, she was attentive but not intrusive with a pleasant manner.
