We celebrated our #56 wedding anniversary recently at Otto’s and were happy with the quality of the food and service. The tables on their patio were nicely spaced, the server wore a mask, and we felt protected. Very large servings so took extra food home. Do not recommend the crab cakes as deep fried and lots of filler. The chef accommodated a special request on my Seafood Trio. Overall would give them four stars.

So happy ottos has reopened. Jamie, our waiter, started us out with our favorite martinis and a basket of hot sour dough buns with butter. He’s one of our favorites. Knowing our habits he let us enjoy our drinks before taking our order. We prefer leisurely dining. My husband ordered the mixed grill and tomato bisque. We share so I can give a fair assessment of his dinner. Stellar comes to mind. The Mediterranean grill is a large platter filled with lamb chops, chicken, koftke, couscous salad, wheat pilaf, red onion relish, yogurt mint sauce and pomegranate reduction. My go to dish is the seared scallops. This is what I ordered along with a Caesar salad. The scallops were seared perfectly, charred on one side and slightly translucent. Unfortunately they changed the risotto recipe that is served with the scallops. I missed the ingredient change on the menu, being a creature of habit and not reading the menu. (To my credit, Otto’s really hasn’t changed the menu in the 25 years I’ve been going there, so a change wasn’t expected). Why change a good thing? One bite and I left it on my plate. Unless they go back to the extremely good, not soupy filled with zucchini recipe, I will not be ordering scallops again.

Dining is safe with only 4 Tables on the main floor more upstairs and on the patio. The staff is experienced, friendly and attentive. The food is good. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food and wonderful, charming atmosphere. We have eaten at Otto's several times and have never been disappointed.

Two of us had the tasting menu and we were very happy with the food. Definitely would order again. One of us had the duck, was very happy with it. The old fashioneds were really good. Creme brulee was a bit as well. The food is great and worth it but is $$$. Parking is easy. I suggest you make a reservation as it was packed when we arrived at 6:45pm.

Do NOT change anything! Keep the quiet, calm atmospher, highly-skilled and considerate wait staff and superb food.

We always enjoy dining at Otto’s. Our server was terrific! The noise level was just right. And the dining was, as always, delicious!

Wondeful! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My wife had four ounce filet a d o had sea bass. Both were fantastic. Cheesecake topped off the dinner. We have been to Ottos before and it is always a hit.

Fine dining at reasonable prices. The best waitstaff in Madison. Mediterranean menu spiced up with a weekly chef’s tasting menu. Always excellent.

McKensie was one of the best servers we have ever had. She was wonderful with my 87 year-old father, making the evening fun for him. The food was, as usual, perfectly prepared. We had the lamb chops. . . Holy cow! I only wish I could do more often.

My husband and I had dinner at Otto's for our anniversary. The atmosphere and ambiance was perfect for a romantic evening and though the restaurant was full it wasn't overly noisy or distracting. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Our portions were just right in that they were filling, but not too heavy. I would definitely recommend Otto's to others looking for an upscale pleasant dining experience.

I want to check out the patio in the summer time! We had a fine time, drinks in the little hidden bar and dining on the third floor. Really neat space.

We have been coming to Otto’s since it opened many years ago. Of course the food is wonderful but it is the outstanding staff that keep us coming back.

This week’s tasting menu was fantastic. We started with cauliflower soup which went well with the sour dough buns they bring you with your drink order. Second course was salmon for my husband and clam and scallops pappardelle with lemon cream sauce for me. The absolute best meal I’ve had at Otto’s. I raved about it to everyone who would listen. This dish should be added as a regular menu item. Dessert was macaroons. Couldn’t ask far a better dinner.

We had the Chef's Tasting Menu Special... the food and wine parings were outstanding... could not have been any better! Our server was also most fantastic, very attentive to our table and was quick to respond our needs. We will be returning very soon. Highly recommended!

Gracious, comfortable dining. If you want to be seated in a warm, comfortable room, enjoy good service and excellent food/drinks at your pace -- Otto's is the place. The menu is traditional but the food is well-prepared and delivered promptly. I had the seared scallops, and my companion had a flavorful Mediterranean platter.

Great staff with excellent food in a welcoming atmosphere.

The food was excellent as it always is. I broke from tradition and ordered the rib eye steak with garlic mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. The steak was prepared to order perfectly rare and was very tender. My husband had the tasting menu. Oysters in the half shell, walleye topped with gremolata asparagus and potatoes, followed by an apple galette. All fabulous.

Our server,Jamie, was very attentive and friendly.

Excellent Mediterranean menu with a weekly chefs tasting menu added for flare. Nice wine list featuring both wines by the glass and bottles. I always order the scallops which come with a choice of tomato bisque or salad. The scallops are nicely charred and served with risotto and asparagus. My husband tried the tasting menu: mushroom bisque, lamb chops with mashed potatoes and pear bread pudding. He really enjoyed it.

We sat at the bar on the first level. Bartender took our drink order, but then forgot to make our drinks. Not a large problem and we did get our beverages. However, we had to flag down someone else to get water and bread that was supposed to come out was forgotten (did receive after another request). Food is always good here and we will be back. Service could use some improvement.

This was our first time eating at Otto's. We had moved here 5 years ago and neighbors recommended it to us.
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it is and how good the food is!
This will be our new favorite place to celebrate special occasions!

The filet was good and cooked perfect. We had potatoes as a side and they were very dry and tasteless. The green beans were not cooked enough. The Creme brûlée was very good as well. Overall I will probably not go back.

Very neat place with a great menu and excellent service.

My wife and I decided to dine at Ott's on New Year's Eve as we've always enjoyed eating there. Upon being seated our server was very prompt in bringing the menu and wine list to us. After reviewing the menu my wife and I both decided to order one of the specials which was a 5 ounce lobster tail meal. Upon reviewing the wine list I discovered a bottle of Pouilly-Fuisse which is a French white wine that complemented the meals very nicely. When our server brought the meals the lobster was prepared perfectly and we enjoyed both the lobster and the wine. Our server gave us very nice service throughout the meal and we never felt he was trying to rush us. All in all we had a very nice evening and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We will definitely return.

The ambiance of Otto's is excellent and the service for on New Years Eve was very good although not quite to the level of excellent because of the very busy New Years Eve. My wife and I both had the 6 ounce lobster tail meal. Our lobster were quite tasty and superbly prepared as was the asparagus. The garlic potato portions were a bit large and mine seemed lacking in flavor, although my wife found hers to be excellent. My Caesar salad and my wife's garden salad were both top-notch and filling. Our desert was Chocolate Truffle Cake and Strawberry Napoleon which were both over-the-top delicious
as a fitting end to our meals!

The only down-side for me was the quite limited number of white wines by the glass. The Riesling wine offered was Pacific Rim Riesling which was very dry and did not match my personal preferences.

Overall, Otto's is our go-to-place for dining out!

Once again the service was excellent and the food was fabulous....consistently amazing place to enjoy a great dining experience. On top of my list of best restaurant in Madison!
