Otto's on the River
Outstanding meal and service. Accommodated my special meal requirements including the desert.
A little on the expensive side, other wise good portions, service etc.
Great place! Great food, nice atmosphere.........
Will go again.
It was our first time dining at Ottos on the River and we’ll be back! We wanted a special restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday and Ottos filled the bill! The food, presentation, and service were great. Loved the decor! We also felt that tit was a good value.
Seafood was bland, steak was excellent. In MY opinion it was not worth the price we paid. There was no wow factor. I wouldn't go back but to each their own. This is just MY opinion.
Everything was perfect except that the haddock was a bit strong.
Excellent food, ambiance and service. We we're never rushed. Rather, we felt like we were well taken care of and appreciated.
What a superb lunch we had the other day at Otto’s on the River. The chef’s skills showed up in every course. Cauliflower cream soup, light and tasty pasta with fresh vegetables and an unusual thinner tomato sauce. A chocolate dessert for her n lemon pie for me. Delightful waitress Anna provided prompt and friendly service. Beautiful dining room decor. All good!
Can’t wait to go for dinner!
We went to Otto's for the first time to celebrate our 51st anniversary. We made our reservation on line and were welcomed and seated early. The fine dining style was what we were looking for. It is a small area but the seating was very nice when dining alone or with others. The food was excellent!! The servers were busy but spoke to us often. We are looking forward to dining there again and also enjoying the outside dining this summer season. Make sure and read the history on the back of the menu it is interesting. So glad to see downtown have this wonderful restaurant.
Chef was wonderful. Everything we tried was 10/10. Nice ambiance, will go back next chance we get. Enjoyed ourselves wnough to leave a review. I never leave reviews
Tuna Otto was incredible, the bacon wrapped scallops were quite good, I had one of the specials the steak tips with beggars purses it was fabulous. Two in my party had the glazed salmon dish and were pleased with it.
The seared scallops left a little to be desired, they tasted less than fresh and were over salted.
Lovely place. Limited menu but very nice! A great. Romantic spot for sure.
Very nice staff, amazing food and great location. The menu was specialized and limited for quality.
Outstanding dinner and service. We had a 7:00 PM reservation on Valentines day and we were seated promptly. Service and food were excellent.
Very Nice Valentine’s Day menu and effort
We were really looking forward to dinner at Otto's! We booked reservations too late to get a table, but we were able to reserve space at the counter in the bar. We'd looked at the menu online and were excited to try the escargot appetizer and the duck entree, plus I knew there was Rombauer Chardonnay on the wine list!! Unfortunately, we arrived to find a greatly reduced menu that had not been mentioned when we booked our reservation...neither of the options we were anticipating were on that menu. On top of that, there was a couple at the end of the bar who had been there too long already (and were still being served) and reeked of cigarette smoke. We were disappointed on both counts but tried to "save the evening out" by ordering cocktails and apps only. Our intention was to decide on dinner afterward in case our neighbors moved on by then. Not in the cards, AND a couple who entered after we were seated were offered a table nearby since there was no more room at the bar. How we wish we had been offered that spot! It would have saved the entire evening and we would have stayed for dinner.....sigh, too bad. My cocktail had lychee nut syrup and rose water in it, delicious, and our Moho scallops were cooked to perfection. I realize an establishment doesn't have control over its clientele, but Otto's is a high end restaurant and we didn't expect our neighbors at the bar. If the owner sees this review, he will know who I'm referring to and realize I'm being nice in my simple description of these women. We decided not to add to the scene by causing one ourselves but left disappointed in our experience at Otto's, therefore we are not able to leave a positive review.
This was our first time and I had never heard of this restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was great and there were extra special touches on Valentines Day. Chocolate covered strawberries came with the check and I even got a rose as I left. We will definitely go back!
Food was not great. Stuffing was too bready and hard. Chicken overcooked and no flavor.
Loved the atmosphere!! Food was fantastic. The double pork chop was cooked perfectly, almost like it was Sous vide, it was so perfect. Cocktails delicious and original. What a fun place. I think they had the skeleton crew on, being it was a Sunday, but aside from the server/bartender/hostess/runner/busser losing 1/3 of our champagne on the open...the night was perfect. Will definitely be back, can’t wait.
Six of us gathered to celebrate my birthday. Each of us had a fabulous meal. Wait staff was excellent! Restaurant is beautiful. Can't wait to return!!
Such a great place! Wonderful atmosphere, terrific food. We loved it!
First time here and had 3 appetizers and some cocktails for the two of us. Everything was amazing. Can't wait to come back for some entrees. A+++++
Great food and great service. Had the filet mignon and was delicious. Staff was fantastic.
We visited late Friday evening and soon were the only patrons in the dining room (though we were well within the open hours), so it was quiet and we were able to enjoy the ambience, food, and service without interruption. A beautiful room, great decor. A large round table under an awning is the central feature of the room, and we look forward to reserving it if we can ever assemble a large party (up to 12).
We had the bacon-wrapped scallops as appetizer, very good. I had the seafood stuffed haddock accompanied by sauteed spinach and a veg mash, really enjoyed them all. My wife had filet mignon and pronounced it excellent. A fine selection of breads and oils was brought, too. The wine list is very respectable. Our server, Pear, was first class and we were able to have a delightful conversation because business was slow. (She mentioned a convention was in town the next day and they expected to be very busy that night.)
We did look in at the bar before we left, and it was still populated. It, too, is beautifully decorated and we look forward to enjoying it as well sometime soon. We only moved to Augusta a year and a half ago and have been gradually trying all its dining venues. We are glad we arrived at Otto's.
Terrific experience and will certainly visit again when in Augusta. I thought parking might be an issue, but public parking was within a comfortable walking distance.
We were celebrating my granddaughter ‘s 16th birthday and they couldn’t have made the evening more special!
My partner and I have been to this restaurant five times, and each and every time has been exceptionally good. From the wait staff, to the various entrees that they offer, this is one of Augusta's fine eateries.
We always have good food at Ottos and this time topped the cake. Absolutely outstanding! My husband and I were raving about it after almost every bite. The best pork chop I have ever had bar none! Absolutely incredible!
Had a great Christmas dinner. All meals were great, but the prime rib was a bit tough.
Outstanding ! We will certainly be back! Have already recommended to several friends.
Very nice place--I've been twice and felt that the food was quite tasty-- a mix of offerings including red meats, seafood, with pasta or not. The décor is quite tasteful, on the slightly formal side, with a great round table in the center of the dining room surrounded by pillars and fun scarves/sheer curtains.. Would be fun for a special family gathering or bachelorette party. The only downside is that it seems rather empty--could be our timing--I just hope word gets out that it's a great option for fine dining
Food all tasted good and was well-presented. Pleasant atmosphere plus a small but lively bar on this Friday evening.
Went for the first time with friends, will go back many times. I' m always taken by a place that has good food, reasonable prices and friendly service.
The place was very pretty, but my food was only average at best. Also had to wait several minutes for a someone to show up and seat me, despite the place being extremely slow when I got there. My waitress was excellent and the food arrived quickly and was attractive, just not very flavorful. The interior is very nice and was quiet.
I will assume the possibility that it was just an off night for the kitchen and that the delay in seating was unusual and will give Otto's another try.
Very well done. Steak was perfectly cooked, seafood dish was rich and tasty
Otto's has a comfortable and interesting decors, very different than any other local place with many modern touches, but in an historic building. The menu has an interesting variety of options and some flexible mixes of different toppings for salad and pasta. Our scallops, duck and salad were very tasty.
I had the stuffed haddock and the stuffing was cold although it tasted pretty good. My wife had the chicken marsala and the sauce was to thick and clumpy.....
It was a great place with wonderful food, service and atmosphere! Really liked it and will be back!
The ambiance was amazing, love the design and decor...which raised my expectations. The wait person, as much as she tried and was it appreciated, was difficult for us to understand, to the point we didn’t follow up on questioning about the menu because she had to repeat herself multiple times. It was a bit embarrasing for us as it felt like we were putting her on the spot...And it was a special night and we felt rushed. I asked to slow it all down( it was a quiet night there) but she didn’t really understand what I meant by it, she brought my partners coffee while I still worked on my wine after I asked if we could finish this part of the meal before starting the next. The same with the apps and entree. Drinks overlapped with each other. She tried, I felt bad, but the communication wasn’t there, if it was she would have been great I think.
The food was good, not great and that was the biggest disappointment. All the ingredients were there, the presentation was beautiful but the flavors just weren’t on.
Having said all that I would definitely go again and give it another shot just to see if this was a fluke. I’m hoping it was and am excited to see where they can go with their restaurant, it’s sorely needed here.
Have eaten here on a couple of occasions and will certainly go back. Two suggestions for the chef - tuna appetizer could be of higher quality. Tasty but had a gristle vein. Wife had the filet and it was okay. Not as tender as expected. Very nice place and would recommend. For the cost - higher quality.
