Great atmosphere and service you feel like you’re in New York city not downtown Augusta! The food is delicious. Great menu with choices for everyone.
Ottos staff is excellent. They make you feel right at home. The food was excellent!
We enjoyed the casual environment with an upscale feel. The meal including the apps was delicious, we'll be dining there again in the near future.
Took forever to get the menu. Food was not that great.
Wonderful dinner! New favorite restaurant in Augusta!
This is the third time we’ve been there since the food is amazing. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars this time is the wait. Understandably it was busy for Valentines Day, but we weren’t seated until an hour after our reservation. Then, it took about an hour for our food to arrive after we ordered it. They had some special touches last year where they gave out chocolate covered strawberries with the bill and a rose for all the ladies., which they didn’t do this year. This year they seemed very overwhelmed. It would have been nice if they offered us a free drink or dessert, or some kind of good will gesture for waiting so much. I’m sure we’ll go back, but likely not on Valentines or a holiday.
Food very attractive and tasty. Lobster in the seafood entree was tough and the chicken was a little dry but overall we had a very nice dinner on every busy night Valentines Day.
Very disappointed after going to ottos. Really not impressed with the food. I got a stuffed chicken with butternut squash rissoto. The squash was not cooked at all and the rissoto had no flavor and was just really starchy. We ended the meal with crème brûlée and it was curdled. Everything tasted ok but not worth the amount we paid.
Wonderful place!
I would recommend Otto's ,as long as you know it's pricey. One friend's steak was tough and sent back, so that was disappointing. However, the manager offered another or took it off the bill. It was handled very well. Over priced for vegetarian meal. Also, waiter was not familiar with the menu to answer questions. Atmosphere is great, bar are is very nice. Waiter was nice but took 25 min to get drinks for 4 and the bar was empty and the dinning room was not full.
Birthday luncheon for my 20 year old granddaughter and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting. Food was magnificent, waitstaff service was excellent and warmth and friendliness of our server made everything an absolute delight!
The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful and quaint with a fireplace and adorable furniture to sit and relax with a cocktail. The other side is seating and the atmosphere there is just as wonderful. The food is spectacular service is amazing the prices are moderate and you absolutely need to try Ottos on the River.
Food was very tasty, service was adequate and ambiance would have benefitted if it had some holiday or more seasonal decorations
Can't recommend this restaurant
Last year the food was great, this year not so much.
Our wait person was terrific! Our group dined at Otto's 2 months ago and all of us had a great lunch. Some members thought that the reuben sandwich was the best they had ever had and ordered it again. I had soup at that first visit and it was great. This time I ordered seafood quiche and I was disappointed because it was an omelet not a quiche as it had no visible crust. The amount of scallops, shrimp, haddock and lobster it contained was fine but it did not have enough cheese to please me and I really missed crust. I will go back to Otto's but I will not order quiche there. I think customers should be told that Otto's crustless quiche is what they'll be getting.
Lovely restaurant. Large party in restaurant but still quiet. Wait staff very attentive. Nice experience.
We had a lovely meal at Otto's! Beautiful decor, warm and courteous service and first-rate food. (The lobster ravioli is already a favorite.) A perfect place for a quiet, intimate evening.
Waitress/hostess was very awkward. Food was good. Small portions.
under impressed with the overall menu and one dish was less than expected. I cannot particularly recommend this restaurant with some many others to choose from (both near and a bit further away).
Ottos on the river was outstanding! Loved the bread tray, our entrées were excellent, dessert was superb along with the service which made Ottos an outstanding choice for us and I think it will for you as well.
We ate at Otto's at lunchtime on a Thursday. It was quiet and slow paced, which was what we like. We had to go all the way into the bar to find someone to tell us where we could sit, since it was our first visit. Our server was polite. The food was really good. Our meals came out slower than we would have liked considering there were only two other tables occupied, but not an overly long wait. Overall we really enjoyed the food, unique decor, and city/river views. A friendly greeting at the door would have been welcomed and we only saw our server and no other restaurant staff, so it was a little impersonal. But, that was not a deal breaker. We would go back again and do recommend it!
the ambience and service were phenomenal. the food could have had more flavor in it. we had the fruti de mare and it was kind of bland. the duck was amazing. i would come back and try a different dish.
they brought a candle out for my daughter's bday and everything was perfect.
our waitress was very sweet and accomodating.
Our main objection was that my wife and I ordered an appetizer and were less than 50% finished when our entrée came to the table. The server apologized, but none the less was inconvenient. Also our server did not refill our water glasses and had to be reminded about my second glass of wine that I had ordered. This experience is unfortunate because our first experience 6 months prior was excellent.
Had lunch outside with my daughter and mother. Day was beautiful and food was excellent!
Wonderful ambiance very good dishes nice service
I always get excited when a restaurant has a vegan dish on the menu, but this was not palatable. While I do not mind paying for the option of having a vegan item, however, the price of the dish was outlandish for what was served and the quality. My husband had the scallops and felt they were OK, but the polenta and asparagus they were served with were cold and he couldn't eat more than a bite.
I was disappointed in the experience. The restaurant is cute, and in a fun location but the food was not worth the price. I would not go back. We tried the restaurant because friends that had dined there earlier in the year had recommended, but our food did not compare at all to their experience.
Wonderful evening! We will be back! Lovely venue, menu and great service. We ate outside on the patio. But I also loved the interior decor and bar area.
We made reservations the day before on Open table. We had hoped to sit outside, but the table was in the sun and they would not give us a table in the shade. We ordered seafood casserole. We were disappointed with the seafood/ breadcrumb ratio. Not enough actual seafood and too many breadcrumbs. I would not go back.
Good food waitress chewing gum not a good combo but it’s maine
It took an hour to receive the food and the restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday night. The food arrived cold, over cooked, and under seasoned. The waitress was accommodating and brought the salmon back to be refired, which only took 10 minutes, but we didn’t eat our meals together because the other dish would have been cold. I do not recommend this as a date night.
Ottos: service is slow, food is just OK. But ambience is great ... and there r so few choices.
Steak was prepared to perfection
Duck was excellent
Drinks were perfect and
dessert was excellent.
Also, our waitress was attentive but not overbearing.
Go go go ...
Service was a little slow because the restaurant was unusually busy for a Wednesday night but we were relaxed and ready for a slow and well cooked fresh meal (and did not want "fast food"). Everything was freshly made and delicious. The waitress was very kind and apologized many times for the wait (and gave us a free extra glass of wine) even though we never complained or became impatient. We were happy to relax and take our time. The other times we ate there were not slow at all in serving us.
Evening only. Apparently the dining section is not opened during lunch near the bar. Disappointed. Requested table overlooking the water. The dining area was closed off.
For party of 6 service was excellent. Modern ambiance with equally modern dish ware and utensils. Modern takes on entrees mixed results. Brussels sprouts with pancetta quite good but perhaps a bit too much pancetta. Chicken marsala very good but served in boat shaped bowl with excessive sauce. Stuffed haddock good but not exceptional. Seafood casserole quite good. One in our party thought chicken cordon blue tough and not good at all. Roasted garlic, Olive oil, hummus, and butter are provided with fresh bread. Its on the river but no great views. Would be happy to go back but be need to be selective.
Open Table suggested Otto's On The River to me while we were vacationing on Worthley Pond in the Rumford area. It was an hour's drive, but my wife and I decided to try it. It was a nice place, artsy in an attractive way, but the main dining room was closed for some reason and the advertised river views from the deck were a bit awkward and were certainly "obstructed" (by the railing) for my wife who is 5'2". We certainly enjoyed the Strawberry Cream Gazpacho and my lobster roll was good, but not great. Butter Cake dessert was different (we had never had butter cake before) but enjoyable, we think (I guess we're still deciding). All in all, the whole experience wasn't worth driving an hour for. Next year (or next week) we'll just head back to Maurice in Paris - only 35 minutes away.
We arrived at the restaurant for dinner and were seated at a table at the window. We were promptly served our beverages. We waited a sufficient amount of time and ordered. From this point everything went downhill. After a good 30 minutes we asked for our salads and refills on drinks. After another 30 minutes we had to ask about our dinners. They arrived a little later but were certainly not worth the wait! The poached lobster was rubbery and the other entrees were not at all what I would have expected. In all, we spent an hour and forty five minutes for a mediocre dinner. I would not recommend this place.
Surprisingly good food, beautiful location and great service. Will def be going there again.
This is the 2nd time my husband and I dined at Otto's. Both experiences included very friendly staff and delicious food. The bar area is fun and playful. The dining room provides a romantic atmosphere. The owner came around and greeted us and to make sure we were being well taken care of. We will dine again.
