Had a family from out of town and wanted them to have a nice dinner in an attractive setting. Ottoman Taverna fit the bill and did not disappoint. Food was good, price was reasonable, and service was great. Thank you!
Best Moussaka ever! Out of all of my time in Istanbul, only one restaurant was better than yours.
The food was great, the service was prompt, and we had the lovely evening we expected. Thank you.
It is always a pleasure to dine at my favorite Turkish eatery, and one of my favorite places to take guests. The food and service is always topnotch, and the space is beautiful.
All the dishes were delicious and flavorful. The service was very
And we ate plenty!
We would definitely return next time we are traveling to DC
Delicious food and good service in beautiful setting. Not too noisy.
Appetizers; Hummus was excellent; shrimp not so much. Although the menu is labeled well for allergies, when we asked about the lamb with eggplant, we were told it had no diary even though the eggplant was made with cheese. Virtually all the wine is from the middle east; corkage fee is $25.
Food was good. Service could be better.
I would rather go the DMV everyday for a week than to sit in this restaurant again. The service is an absolute joke. The waiters barely come by and it took almost 2 hours to go through a prefix menu WITHOUT getting any alcohol.
The food wasn’t anything special. Not sure how a Bib Gourmand was provided. If you want better food and service go to Maydan.
All the food came out cold. We asked for drinks and after 20-30 minutes had to ask the server again.
Excellent service and food was great
We loved the Valentine’s special menu. The restaurant got a lot of people in and out and it was definitely full but we did not feel crowded or rushed. This was on a night when we planned late and little else was available. We loved the ambience and the food was amazing!
Valentine’s Day is supposed to be special. It seemed like the restaurant tried to capitalize off the holiday by packing too many people into too small a space and overwhelming too small a staff. It took a while, despite reservations, for us to be recognized. Once we were finally attended to, we were asked what we had chosen - we hadn’t even been given menus yet. The dinner was prixe fixe and lukewarm. They messed up our order twice (did I mention the food was pre made making it unfathomable that out of the three choices they could mess it up twice). I felt bad for the staff as they were clearly placed in a bad position by their management. In the end, I’ve had better food in villages under siege in northern Iraq. I won’t be returning.
Went here for valentines day, great value prix fixe menu, kind and attentive waitstaff, and delicious food. Will definitely be going back.
Amazing food! 100% need to visit while in DC. I recommend the meat platter!
Food and service were excellent! Great spot!
nice place. hard to find. entrance is on 4th street despite I street address.
Great service. This was our first tine. Well worth it.
The food here is always outstanding... service is solid.
It was our 1st time at this restaurant. The food was very tasty. The drinks from hh menu were not that great, so we ended ordering drinks from the regular menu, which were very tasty.
Server was excellent and managed all 10 of us!
Great food but wish they had more weight staff. It took a long time between courses. Turkish coffee was outstanding but cooled down before desert served. In spite of the waiting it’s a rare find in DC for this type cuisine and I will probably be back.
Excellent brunch experience. All you can eat, all you can drink. Service was great. Will definitely be back!
Great Turkish food and overall reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient. Happy to have this place close to him.
Best middle eastern dining in DC! Absolutely loved everything we got!
No recognition of special occasion. We were seated promptly upon arrival, but the table next who was seated after us was greeted first as they ordered a bottle of wine from the Bar before being seated. Not necessarily a nice start for us.
Great smells coming out of the kitchen, food was hot and ok. Water glasses went empty for a while. When we finished our bread we received more bread, but not the oil and spices that went along with it until we asked.
My wife’s non-alcoholic drink too 25 minutes to come out. I ordered the baklava to-go and when I got home it looked as it they threw in two and a half small pieces haphazardly into the box and bagged it us. I wouldn’t come here again but it was still somewhat worthwhile of an experience for a first.
The brunch was okay. probably would have given a better rating if it was dinner time where food was made to order and had access to full menu.
The food was great, however we went for the bottomless brunch and the waiter did not bring us everything we asked for (olives were asked for by 5 different people at different times and they never appeared) and we were always waiting for drinks unfortunately.
The food was fantastic. I went with a group of friends for brunch, everyone was very pleased. We will be back.
Great food, excellent new restaurant!
What good fortune we had, coming in from out of town, and finding the Ottoman Taverna on Open Table. Our dinner was delightul, as was our waitress, Irem. My companions and and I enjoyed the Shepherd Salad, SIGARA BÖREĞI , MÜCVER , PATATES KÖFTE , Salmon, KÖFTE , and Cauliflower, all Mediterranean style dishes with a Turkish flair. I look forward to returning to this restaurant!
Eggplant purée was incredible
In order to enjoy Ottoman Taverna, a patron should have some familiarity with Mediterranean food. The chefs have taken the basics of eggplant, lamb, falafal and upgraded them. A pilaf isn't the same old pilaf you used to make. It's a fine, fluffy concoction. Ground beef and lamb kebobs are grilled to tender perfection. No skewers used here. The baklava contained pistachios...a totally different experience from the usual desserts purchased everywhere else. You will like this moderately priced NoMa restaurant. I look forward to returning when it isn't as noisy.
We loved our experience at Ottoman Taverna! It was busy but that didn’t stop our servers from being attentive and friendly. They even moved us to a table further from the door when I was cold. And the food — just incredible. We can’t wait to go back!!!
Delicious food and beautiful ambiance. They even give you tea after your meal which is quite delicious!
Beautiful large restaurant with light colored, modern decor. Seems to be popular with groups - there were several number 6-10 while we were there. They seemed to be short staffed so everything took longer so not a place to have a quick bite. But the environment is great if you are in for a leisurely lunch.
OT is my favorite Turkish restaurant, and one of my favorite restaurants overall. This was another enjoyable and tasty night out.
Great tapas and small plates.
Yes. I would recommend Ottoman Taverna to a friend. Nice ambiance, quiet for conversation but not dull, tasty food and friendly staff. Very good Turkish foo and not many restaurants in DC with that offering.
Our server was absolutely amazing. We did restaurant week here and he accommodated the vegetarians in the group by allowing them to order options from other courses and increasing the portion size. The bartender was pretty slow and our drinks took very long. Food was very good as well- dips, and the potatoes cakes in addition to the Baklava were the groups favorites. Definitely recommend for big groups.
