About
Otto has been one of my favorite places to eat for years now. I have been a regular since about 2014, and this was my go to spot for italian food in the lower part of manhattan. But i went back recently (twice), with the second time being Sunday march 8th and i was not happy with the food that we had. The service is always good, its just a standard good service. Nothing amazing, but its on the better end of the service spectrum in NYC.
But lets get back to the food. We got a bunch of different dishes, pizza and pastas and we were disappointed with all of them. We asked for a cacio pepe pasta, and it literally tasted like boiled pasta in boiled pasta water. It had no flavor at all. The waitress was very sweet and swapped it out for a bolognese which was... fine. It was just fine. Not like the taste it used to have before. The pizza, was overly well done, with the pepperoni basically burnt. This might be how they do it, but it was just disappointing.
I miss the days of the fennel goat cheese pasta, their crisp watermelon salads and spicy olive oil. I am not sure if its because Batali is no longer associated with the restaurant or what, but something has obviously changed in terms of food and food quality.
Everything I’ve ordered was horrible! pizza margarita didn’t have any cheese on it, spaghetti carbonara had an awful smell of burnt oil.
Really cool spot in the west village. Very New York vibes. Food was incredible, wine was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was great. I personally picked the restaurant and the group of friends that I went with were impressed with the choice, which is all that matters.
Birthday celebration
Used to love Otto Enoteca...lost it's luster. Service super bad...waitress disappeared and nobody came to help. Bucatini had an overpowering spice probably sage...not good.
Hasn’t been in years and remembered it when it first opened as an awesome place for pizza and pasta. Well, gone is Mario and gone is the good pizza and pasta. Both were over cooked and lacked anything special flavor-wise. I do not recommend it — too many amazing pizza and pasta places in NYC.
This is a great neighborhood place, excellent pizza, plenty of other options, extensive wine list, a true gem.
Otto's chopped salad might be my favorite in the city
When I eat pizza, it has to be great pizza, and as I am New York City born and raised, I know great pizza. Otto Enoteca has great pizza. And great appetizers and salads. And great wine. Matched with the excellent service, it's definitely a neighborhood gem for me.
The service and atmosphere were wonderful, but the food preparation sadly has gone down over the years. Too bad.
The pizza was great and the service was awesome
really good simple Italian with fun easy atmosphere, excellent pizza's, value for money!
Too noisy, too busy, commercial, large groups. Staff extremely busy and running like crazy. However, I would work through all this if the food was really worth it and it is NOT. Had so so many better pizzas and pastas in NYC for this to be my everyday dining option.
Very good food at reasonable prices. But the service was not quite up to par as twice we waited quite a while for drinks. They did make up for it by comping the drinks.
Honestly such a gem! Beautiful ambiance amazing food and not super Expensive! Loved the wait staff would 100% go back!
Otto’s is one of my favorite pizza places in Manhattan, right near the Washington Square Park. Always the right amount of crowd, always perfect pizza, and good service.
In town to visit my niece at NYU and had a great experience. Our waiter, Nick, was THE BEST and truly made our dinner one to remember. The food was excellent. We started with a white pizza and several salads to share. Then we had pasta and finished with the incredible gelato. At every turn, Nick was there to guide our meal and ensure we were taken care of especially when we ordered pasta and gelato to go for my niece who was studying and couldn’t join us. Thank you Nick! Highly recommend Otto!!
Great food. Attentive waitstaff. Not noisy at all.....great to be able to have a conversation.
We’ll be back.
Sadly the quality of ofvthe food has declined since a few years back😪 it used to 5 stars and now I feel 2-3. Ordered a margarita pizza , pasta bolognese and gelato for dessert. Pizza and olive oil gelato were meh. Pasta was good. It was ok for my 10 year old and me but With so many amazing restaurants in Manhattan I will not be rushing back. It sad a top notch restaurant has declined like this .
Very good food and excellent service, but the restaurant is looking a little tired. Some of the plants in the back room were wilted and looked dusty. The front area is noisy.
Service was poor restaurant was freezing and staff did nothing to address despite being asked
The quality of experience here has really taken a drop over the years. I was entertaining some guests from out of town, with kids in tow. This was my go to spot for family friendly meals. Sunday night and it took forever for the food and service to come. Food was terrible. The pizzas tasted like cardboard. The kids didn’t even come close to the Margherita pizza. Salad was watery. I was so embarrassed. Never again.
One of my favorite places in the city. The spaghetti carbonara is perfect. I crave it the moment I've made the reservation.
Slow and uneven service. Appetizers came out immediately and then we wanted 40 (!!) minutes for some plain spaghetti for my kids! Didn’t even get bread to tide them over until we asked multiple times, and even then it was much delayed. Manager tried to comp us dessert or additional wine but the slow service was making us late for a show. The better thing to do would have been to comp the wine we already had or at least the kids’ food! Or even better, don’t take an hour to bring out plain pasta!
Everything was fabulous, but the waitress terrible actitud sorry.
Always the best! Great neighborhood spot
Great service - great food
it was nice! the good was good but the pasta took a long time and then once it finally came it was cold. disappointing but still tasty food
Great food, wine and appetizers. The atmosphere is what most impressed me about this place. It made enjoying my food and my company that much better.
Good spot for a casual meal. Nice menu choices Well prepared food. Only downside is the spotty service.
Don't love the wine list, would appreciate new options
Excellent pizza for reasonable price!
Food was outstanding and the price was right. I will definitely return
To noice, long waiting time even from the appetizer and the main course. Pizzo was so and so.
Great food. Crowded and noisy.
Great wine list as always and food is still good after going for so many years. I wish they would either put salt and pepper on the table or at least offer it whenever the food is served. For both apps and main entree, we had to ask for salt and pepper both times. Deducting one star for that because it got annoying have to track a waiter down to season our food.
Also, the carbonara used to be my fave carbonara in the city, but they have changed the dish now so it lacks the flavor it used to.
Been a few times. Some things are good, others not so much. Example - meatballs are great! Pizza with “pepperoni” (as stated on menu, I believe, sliced salami or something) horrible. Really horrible.
Amazing dinner experience as usual Blue Ribbon anywhere in the Us drivers
Fabulous wait staff! Great for kids if you go early enough!
Nice dining area with nice ambiance. Pizza was subpar which is surprising since this was why it was recommended to me. On the other hand the dessert was outstanding. I give it 1 star for pizza and 5 stars for gelato and dolci.
