Otto Enoteca Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
This was my second time at Otto and I was less than impressed. The chopped Otto salad was not good - dressing and mix of ingredients was not pleasing. We also ordered the special black truffle pasta, which was fine - but didn't highlight the truffles very much. The pizza - goat cheese - was odd. Fine, but odd. The chunks of squash on top were huge, in comparison to the very thin pizza, making it an odd thing to eat. We ordered an apple dessert, which was fine. The coffee, however, was outstanding and the best part of the meal.
This was some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Cheese pizza did the impossible - it tasted bad. The Pesto pasta, although covered in tons of sauce, tasted like absolutely nothing. Supermarket pesto would have been better tasting than this. Thoroughly disappointing and will not go back.
Otto has been a go-to neighborhood restaurant for our family for many years because of its wonderful food, dependable menu, family-friendly ambience, lovely staff and great space. It’s been a gem! However, my wife and I were both of the opinion that the most fundamental reason for visiting any restaurant – the food – is no longer what it used to be at Otto. Staples such as the Margherita Pizza, Soup of the day, etc. were disappointing. We’d hate for this wonderful restaurant to go but if this is what passes as representative of what the kitchen has to offer (nowadays) then we won’t be back, and I can’t see how you’d could continue to cater to loyal and new clientele on the back of what was served to us. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t Otto good, which was its point of difference.
The place is nice and the service is ok, but I was expecting a little bit more in the food. The Menu describes very little, is confusing and there are no healthy choices. It was recommended to me for being a kids friendly place but there is not really something especially made for kids.
Low quality of food. Not sure why chef insists of changing the traditional pesto sauce for a parsley sauce which is really bad. The pizza's sauce tasted like tomato paste, and the goat cheese pasta was horrible. This was my second time in two years and definitely my last.
Not great. Food came exceedingly fast and one pasta entree was undercooked (crunchy) so it was sent back and came back to the table after other diner was long finished eating. Apologies but no concession offered.
Restaurant feels different than it used to - much more family than foodie focused.
Love to eat here when we take a daytrip to NYC from upstate
Walked all day enjoying Xmas decorations
Enjoyed the veggie appetizer selections but love the Carbonara
Rivals anything in Roma
We split a plate
Thick spaghetti with creamy cheese sauce & crispy pancetta
And then the creative gelato flavors and mixed Italian cookie plate hit the spot with a cappuccino
Never disappointed at Otto!
We always love Otto, however on our last 2 visits we were seated next to obnoxious children. They ruined our meal and the couple seated next to us. It would be a good move not to seat people with 3 children next to couples but we’ve now learned our lesson. Bar.
Otto came highly recommended from a few different travel websites. I was pleased that it was easy to get a reservation and the location was good. The ambiance is good, it is a loud, crowded restaurant but it is nice inside. I was disappointed by the food. First of all, the bread was burnt. We asked for another loaf and it was less burnt but hard as rock and difficult to eat. My mother and I both ordered the pasta alla norma and it was very disappointing. The eggplant was bitter and the pasta was very al dente, more than expected. The food was priced appropriately but I was looking forward to a nice, authentic Italian dinner and this was not it. Will not be returning.
It is impossible to serve freshly made, tasty, and nicely presented food for 100 guests at a time, unless it is a catered event with a limited menu.
The pizza arrived barely warm at the table, the cheese was already hard. Our pasta dishes were uninteresting, and the spaghetti with white truffles particularly disappointing with a thin shaving of truffle ( 4 minuscule slivers). The presentation was unattractive, the food was slapped on the plate like at the school canteen. This restaurant is now more than ever a factory.
