my son-in-law loves to cook as do I, and it was an affordable way to expose him to your
chef Batallia. My 12 year old grand daughter also loves Italian food as I do.

We were going to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden that night. Unfortunately Babbo was not open early enough so we booked Otto. We went to Otto in Vegas also. What can you say it's a B&B restaurant so of course it was very good. Bartender was also awesome before we had dinner.

Fabulous. Service was off the charts great. Pizza, pasta and dessert were delicious. Cabernet Sauvignon by glass was one of the best ever. Already booked return next weekend to celebrate a birthday.

Full transparancy: this place is noisy! However, if you can live with that you will get the full Batali experience with great cheese and salami options and excellent pizzas. For pasta I would go osmewhere else. And do NOT miss out on the gelato, the olive oil flavor is a memory for life.

When we arrived we found the menu a little confusing(quite different to the many Italian restaurants we have dined at in Australia). However our waitress soon put us at ease, taking the time to explain how the menu worked and making some recommendations that turned out to be very suitable to our tastes. After we ordered some wine and the food started to arrive we found the experience delightful. The restaurant was recommended to us by a friend in Australia and we in turn would have no hesitation in recommending it to other friends travelling to New York. Our visit was for a special occasion (my 70th birthday)and the experience is one I will remember for a long time.Thank you for making it special.Even my desert came out with a candle.A lovely touch, thank you again.Ken C satisfied Australian visitor.

This is one of Mario Batali's restaurants but this one is a bargain by NYC standards. The food combines pizza, pasta, and a wonderful array of apps, charcuterie, salads, and cheeses. Our meal consisted of 2 apps. The first was a delicious poached octopus salad with fennel. The 2nd was blanched broccoli rabe tossed with ricotta salt cheese in a light vinaigrette, another winner. Pasta dishes were pork loin braised in tomato/basil sauce, hot sausage with escarole. Both simple and absolutely delicious, served in ample portions but not ridiculous. The gelato for dessert was outstanding. Ambiance was intimate and inviting.

Sadly there was too much salt on the pizza. Prosciutto pizza is not supposed to be put in the oven together. Prosciutto should have been added after to avoid saltyness. Overall food is good - Americanized Italian but good.

Enjoyed a truly memorable meal at Otto a few years back, this trip was less tasty. The salads are quite large—plan to share one with two or three people as a starter. The fresh pastas far surpass the regular pasta dishes, so stick to those. I found my maple panna cotta to be too sweet, though the flavor combination and texture variety was excellent. My dining partner loved her “black and white.”

The food was amazing as well as the service! The only challenge was deciding on which pizzas to try. We went with a recommendation from our server and it was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back!

Very loud and busy place. Hectic, stressful. People passing by the table all the time. We could see each other but a conversation was almost impossible if you didn’t want to shout...
Food was ok but not outstanding. We had better Pizza in town.
Service was overwhelmed by the crowd snd hence slow.
Prices ok-ish.

Otto used to be a favorite place. Recent visit was disappointing. Tables too close, waiter and staff kept bumping my back to pass. Wait staff barely spoke English and was only interested in rushing us to order, drink, eat and leave. The quality of good was ordinary at best and portions are getting smaller. Otto has gotten very commercial and lost it's special touch as a favorite dining spot. Not recommended.

We've had both lunch and dinner at Otto and will do so again. The food is consistently outstanding and intriguing. The service is prompt and attentive but not intrusive. We love the decor.

The place is vibrant---from the orangey-red glossy walls to the friendly bustle of the staff.
Cocktails were quite tasty, and the choices of the appetizers and entrees had a nice range.
Pasta servings were a bit small, but pizza size was perfect. The desserts including the varied gelato choices were superb.

Love coming here for delicious but affordable comfort food. Our waitress (forgot her name, she had trendy white framed glasses) was so on point with service and attentiveness. My group had a lot of questions and she was knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The only downside was the noise level, but that may have been because we were near several large parties. Highly recommend for great food and service.

I love this place for it's high energy, relative low prices and high quality ingredients. Sometimes the staff can be less than adequate, most of the time they are more than adequate. It is a big place with a lot of different people so you can get that. The management SHOULD do a better job of training the staff, but c'est la vie. In any case, it is a fun place for pizza, pasta and Aperol Spritz!

It was raining and cold but the food made all that go away. Great pizzas and great pastas. Some of Batali 's great pastas are on the menu. Wine list was fabulous even by the glass.
Can't wait to go back.

From its photos, we thought Otto Enoteca would be the type of restaurant we like, and it is indeed handsome (the all-wood "Italian railroad car" look). The house salad we shared was very good and large enough for two appetizers, the Otto mushroom-and-taleggio thin-crust pizza was delicious, and the fresh goat cheese agnolotti with lemon butter and fennel pollen was one of the best pastas we've ever tasted. Prices of the entrees were a good value: portions were small but made up in quality what they didn't have in size. (We much prefer to pay less for pasta that's small but excellent than pay more for pasta that's large and mediocre.) Our problem was the noise level (all-wooden walls and floors = no acoustical cushioning) plus the raucousness of several of the tables around us: tables are closely spaced and more than a few are for parties of 5 or 6, the restaurant is in the NYU area and seems to attract a well-heeled young crowd out for a good time at a fashionable restaurant, making quite conversation, and sometimes even noisy conversation impossible even on what we thought would be a relatively quite Monday night. Unfortunately, all it takes is one loudmouth at the next table to ruin a meal, and there was more than one at Otto Enoteca. So, despite the handsome surroundings and the excellent pasta: never again!

Hugely overrated Mario Batali restaurant. Food was mediocre; restaurant was packed and completely chaotic. Nothing spectacular about anything and felt like a cash grab from people that want to see what the hype is about. Would not go back and would not recommend. Felt like a waste of money.

A nice spot for happy hour if you are looking for good wine and small dish specials. However, for dinner, it's not on the top of my list. It has a Very loud environment. Tables were uncomfortably close. The service staff was pleasant but appeared disorganized. Within five minutes we were asked by four different people if we were done with our meals as they wanted to clear the plates. We felt very rushed. Additionally, the pasta dishes are tasty but very small portioned and at best would represent a appetizer portion. Not my first choice for future dinners in the area.

One of my favorite restaurants for lunch or a quick meal is Otto at the Venetian in Vegas. The NYC Otto was Vegas on steroids. Bigger menu and wine list. Food was great, but not gourmet Italian...which is perfectly fine and expected. We shared cheeses, prosciutto, a Margarita pizza and a bucatini Amatriciana. Service was excellent. My new first stop in NYC!

Service was scrappy, forgot about us, brought things to the wrong table, said items were coming then they didn't. Menu was disappointing - thought there was lots of variety but it turned out all dishes were cold dishes apart from pizza or pasta. Food wasn't very tasty; neither we cocktails. Overall, not nearly as good as I'd expected. Wouldn't recommend going.

We were so happy as our last meal at Otto was so-so. The fennel salad was AMAZING! Chopped salad fresh and crispy. I had the special meat ball pizza - garlicky meatballs were divine. My husband had the pepperoni pizza - both were piping hot and lovely thin crust. Nice Italian wines and my first martini was disappointing - served in a still-warm-from-the-dishwasher glass. Second was icy and good.
Will go back soon.

The food was superb, but the restaurant was so excessively loud we left as soon as we could. Two of the three of us had massive headaches after our short meal and had to take pain relievers. Part of the problem is the acoustics, but jamming too many tables in to the space and playing music adds to the din. Sommelier was helpful and polite, but our waiter was inattentive and snooty.
