Great food. Even better service!
It is not an Italian Restaurant, it is really bad with no good food. They have to remove any Italian word from the name because it is not an Italian Restaurant
My best friend and I went to celebrate my birthday and we absolutely love their cheese plates. They come with sour cherries, spicy apricots, and truffle honey and it is just one delightful bite after another. We also got the puttanesca and it was amazing: al dente pasta and excellent flavor! Their desserts are also marvelous. We had the tiramisu and the olive oil copetta. Both excellent and very delicious in their own unique way. This place is all-around delicious! The price is reasonable considering the value you are getting and the servers are very friendly. The only thing we didn't love about the service is that our waiter seemed to forget to come check on us while the runners with the water and plate removal seemed to come to us sometimes too frequently during our meal.
Always a great experience. Pizza is great and I love the homemade pastas
Stopped in for a quick dinner with my husband and son. Very authentic food and very kid friendly. They have gluten-free pasta, too.
Always great food and service. Sommelier is very personable and knowledgeable.
Had a reservation for four people. Got there early and the greeter was rude. I have been to this restaurant many times and never had this experience. We were seated in a very cold table. The hostess told us we couldn’t move, but the guys seating us said the opposite. Service at our table was terrible as we got many different waiters. The only good part was that the food was really good. Although none of of us got out entrees at the same time.
Never going here again.
The small plate menu and extensive wine list entices you to try new items. We've been here a few times. It never disappoints.
Waitstaff were great. Friendly, helpful. Don't order the pizza. Pasta was good -- very small portions. Kale & bean soup was good. Roasted beets also good. Open, pleasant atmosphere.
well located, prompt service. wine steward was a little pushy. pizza was not memorable.
Went to Ottos last year whilst over from England and loved it, so made a point of returning and it was well worth it!
Got great service with Anthony on this visit. Service is attentive generally.
Anthony called the Sommelier to help us picked the wine. Got the wine of the day and it was delicious.
Love the prosciutto. Pasta and Pizza are always good.
Loud. loud loud loud. If you yourself are loud or have loud friends, take them here to meet other loud people. The food is good, and a good value. Too bad you will leave with a headache from the noise.
Food was great. Loved the ramp za. My wife’s pasta was also top of the taste buds. Wine markup is a bit over the top at 50% but its NYc and. Know Mario needs the $$....
The carbonara pasta, pizzas and rose are great for a chilly spring night.
The first rose by the glass on the menu is great. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. It's a neighborhood favorite.
We enjoyed the quality of the food and the staff was pleasant and courteous.
The music, however, was abysmally loud.
We considered leaving because of the music, we could barely hear one another at a table for 2, but it was too late in the evening to go to another restaurant.
I would recommend the restaurant to friends with the caveat that they must enjoy extremely loud, pulsating music.
Fun energetic noisy restaurant near NYU. Close to Washington Square and Greenwich Village Comedy club. Pizza was great, pasta dish just a glob of tomato sauce on gummy fett noodles. Wine reasonably priced. Easy to get in and out if going to a club. Likely perfect for the college crowd, but not so much if planning a dinner out with friends.
We really enjoyed our meal here at Otto. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the sommelier was incredibly helpful to tackle their vast wine list. The bottle he decanted for us was heavenly. My husband had the pork shoulder pasta which was delicious, and my son gobbled up his buttered noodles. I opted for two vegetables for my meal because they sounded fantastic - the carrots with thyme and pecorino and the brussel sprouts. Both were served cold which I had not expected and, just as a matter of personal preference, I would have preferred them both warm. There was too much cheese on the carrots (pecorino is delicious but overpowering when there's too much of it) and the brussel sprouts were mushy. But I shared the pasta with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed that. All in all I would highly recommend!
This very loud dining establishment had trouble finding our reservation when we arrived, then placed us in a very loud, rush area surrounded by families (we're two adults). It was hard to understand anything my friend was saying, even 2ft across from me at the table.
The food and wine were definitely tasty. Staff were attentive, when we could grab their attention.
For the value, it's a bit pricy, but I'd recommend it to some tourists if they wanted a place to take kids or large groups.
We liked it here! Went for a late lunch and like restaurants that have foods to share. We ordered a little of this and that and a pizza for our son.
Great food, extensive wine list, great service and best of all, very reasonably priced
I was in NY with my 14 yr old son for Spring Break. We were going to see Stomp during Spring Break. The food - the meats for an appetizer - were fresh and delicious. I had pasta with sausage and escarole and it was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. My son had pizza and devoured it. We also had dessert. Wonderful meal.
Server was awful and management was worse!
Ive been to Otto’s many times and so know how to stretch the experience as the staff tends to shove you out the door before ever sitting down. I must say that on this occasion in particular Mike (waiter) and Joe (sommelier) were both fantastic fun and accommodating. Simply awesome. They Allowed us to take our time ordering, eating, and share conversation with them. While my partner and I love our time alone together these two men were a fun portion of the evening. Three cheers to each of you!!
Good food, great service
Usually love this place every time. Unfortunately during my last visit, Otto and its staff failed to deliver the same great experience they have before. Despite being early to our reservation, we were seated late and the food preparation took so long that my friend had to leave before the meal was over. We had budgeted ample dining time, and when the food finally did arrive to our table, it was served cold. I love coming to Otto and introducing new friends to it, and seeing as it was my guest's first time there, I felt let down and that it colored her experience in a negative light. Please do not overbook or give away tables to those who didn't make reservations beforehand if the restaurant is crowded. I think the waiters were also much too overworked to be attentive or to give any updates regarding the delay in our meal. I will definitely be coming back, but this time I will probably make use of the bar seating instead, as to not have a repeated sub-par meal in the dining room.
Love Otto’s! My favorite!
The food is very good - as always, however it's very loud.
Outstanding food at Otto's! Simple, direct, and extremely flavorful. Mid-evening it can be a bit too "energized," though, so be aware that it isn't conducive to quiet conversation. But it is an enjoyable place. GREAT wine list of course. The wandering somelier helped us decide between two Sardinian wines -- very useful role there! I'll be back for sure.
Salad was very disappointing - the Otto chopped was flavorless. But the service was really the problem - a young bus boy came to clear our table before our appetizers were done. I had to wrestle my fork from him in order to take my last bite, which he stood and watched me take so he could clear the dishes. Then he came back to wipe the table and knocked over my guest’s drink. Luckily, I moved quickly or most of the drink would have landed on me. Our waiter forgot to bring my guest’s glass of wine until midway thru the meal when we asked about it. All in all, incredibly disappointing.
Otto never disappoints!
Food and service were fantastic! Our sommelier & waiter were exceptional and directed us to the perfect choices. Must have: creme fresh ice cream! The Leon specialty cocktail was amazing!
Otto never disappoints!
As always, OTTO delivered. Sommelier recommended 3 wines that all worked for us at the price points we were looking for. The cheese/meats, pasta and pizza all killed. Its consistent every time. Well done.
Just a mediocre food factory....ingratiating phony insincere wait staff, bus staff are robotic and impolite in performance of their chores.....tourist, theme park like atmosphere
Nice table in the back for a group. Good selection of vegetables, seafood, pizza and pasta. And great gelato!
I am a frequent guest at Otto, dining there 5 to 10 times a month. As always, last evening was exquisite. From the service to the meal, it was perfect. Our server, Michael, made the evening fun and enjoyable, but what stuck out was his work ethic. He made sure our plates were hearty and our glasses fun.
