Menu diversifié pour les amateurs de fruits de mer et poissons. Qualité supérieure, service impeccable.
Brought a 6-year old along to this otherwise childless environment. A few couples refused to sit near us. A nice couple did sit next to us and engaged in some banter with him. Service was very attentive to the point of replacing silverware and napkins multiple times during the meal. Wife had the filet, I had the ribeye and son had a pasta meal that the kitchen created for him as there is no kids menu. We all had artistically presented meals and my wife surprisingly said it was the best steak she has ever had, which is saying a lot. Finished up with lemon and berry sorbet and then a while listening to the piano. Nice wine selection and intelligent advice from the server. We were impressed.
Everything was incredible. Very expensive but unique food and great but subtle service. Perfect for lots of different occasions. Ours was a special meal with friends before a play on Tremont, just a block away.
Had a wonderful evening! We will be back!
Amazing as always
Staff excellent and warm
We greatly enjoyed our meal, it was a very special evening for us.
Boston is seafood. Ostra is Boston. A really great place to feel the lovely seafood tasting in an outstanding way. This is food that is really great. It is on high level and the service is very nice. The only small thing that they could change is the sound of the music. Why turn the music up so loud when you have such a great food and want to enjoy more the food then the atmosphere.
Food was cooked to perfection. Branzini simply grilled was delightful. Excellent wine pairing was suggested - would not have picked this on my own. Enjoyed the dining room ambiance. This was my second time dining and I plan to come back.
Delightful..... second visit and hope to return soon........
Amazing food and service ! The salted branzino is to die for!
It was a post Moms birthday, and a day to celebrate my new job on the horizon so it felt very exciting to take in both of the the celebrations. Ostra was awesome love this place good to be back.
Exceptional food and service! I would definitely return and recommend. On the pricey side, but WELL worth it.
We had a lucky evening with our daughter. Dinner was great with phantastic quality of fish. Price/quality relation is perfect! We loved it! P.S. Thank you for switching the wrong-done reservation!!!
Food was outstanding. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. This is a great place to celebrate special occasions.
The food, service, and ambiance were outstanding! I highly recommend Ostra.
Absolutely terrific meal--scallops and monkfish dishes, a side of cauliflower. The snow egg dessert is gorgeous and, like the other dishes, a perfect combination of flavors.
Excellent start to finish. Must visit!
We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Definitely a special occasion restaurant as it is somewhat pricey. Great and exquisitely prepared fish. I had Bream wrapped in a Trevisano Leaf. Delicious! Lemony, herbal, delicately flakiness and piping hot! My husband had simply grilled Branzino and he was similarly impressed. We had The beef carpaccio and Powder Point oysters for appetizers and the snow egg for dessert. All were excellent. Service was impeccable. The suggestion for a special cocktail to suit my taste from waitress was spot on. Definitely a memorable dining experience.
Overall it was good. The food was great but it was overly expensive for what it was 48$ for paella for one so we both opted for fish. Very well cooked but it was very simple given the price. It’s a good place to get dress up and hang out on a special occasion but not for an everyday meals.
Dropped in with my daughter after a day of touring Boston. Ambiance is moderately energetic and interior is beautiful. The service was good, the kind when you don’t know who is your server because many come to the table at various points in time. Hamachi was so fresh and citrus combined with jalapeños was delicious as an appetizer. I had grilled sea bass. Daughter had filet. Both were prepared perfectly. Overall great experience. Could use one in LA!
Excellent overall - only thing I would recommend is spreading out the tables a little more - the people next to you are way too close.
Had reservations for 730, didn’t get seated until 745. Very loud and lots of tables in the restaurant without enough servers. Appetizers were delicious, we had the octopus and gnocchetti dish - both were fabulous. Paella was great. Monkfish was also good but caliber of entrees not the same as the apps. Snow egg is OK - nothing out of this world.
Great food - try the Sea Bass Tartare which was truly outstanding.
The setting is plain and seating table was small and crowded but if you get by the food will be great.
Good sea bass tartare. Pretty good octopus in garlic butter, monkfish nothing special. Snow egg intersecting but not outstanding. Service excellent
Dinner was good waitress very nice place is very nice place
Fantastic food all around. Oysters were remarkable along with grilled octopus and grilled sea bass. Great service from all.
Went there for Valentines Day. The dinner was spectacular. We ate at the bar and it was a great experience. The appetizers were outstanding, started with tuna tartare, then had crisp snow pea salad as recommended, also delicious. Then we had the grilled octopus which was best ever, they melted in your mouth. Main course was the salted Bronzino for two again best ever. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Boston as we were visiting from Long Island.
Our Valentine's day dinner at Ostra was less than spectacular. There were several high points. The service was very good, the cocktails were excellent, and the dessert was as beautiful to look at as any dessert I've ever seen. But the food was only so-so. The octopus appetizer was outstanding, but the calamari was much too salty. My date's paella was overcooked, as was my broiled lobster. The flavors were very good, but the preparation just wasn't executed very well. And for the price we paid for the meal, it should have been outstanding. We were there early, before it got too busy, so there was no excuse that the kitchen was rushed. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but unfortunately, it was at our expense.
Great restaurant, professionally managed with good service and food
Food is outstanding and service is superb.
We arrived early and enjoyed a drink at the bar. The food was excellent with a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. We would definitely return again.
Wonderful meal: scallops; fish baked in salt; octopus; ravioli with mushrooms; beet salad. All cooked to perfection. Our waiter, Mike, really made the night as he was attentive, thoughtful, and recommended some amazing wines., one a 2015 Merry Edwards pinotnoir was spectacular. All in all a very good night.
Best seafood in Boston!
I've now been to Ostra twice for special occasions and each time the food was spectacular, exceeding my already high expectations. The most recent time I had the endive salad and scallops. Both were exquisitely prepared and nicely presented. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The food is expensive, but in my mind worth it for a a truly special experience. Highly recommend it!
This is a great place for a business brunch/dinner, where the quality of food doesn't distract you from important conversions. The restaurant is set up on the first place of the condo building- the decor is all white, not much decorations around apart from an occasional stingray on the wall, stingray branded plates, and fake miniature trees on tables. You can only guess that this a seafood restaurant only from the fried fish smell once you pass the kitchen.
The restaurant has a live piano- but it can be heard only in a smaller wing of the restaurant. The majority of customers had to listen to the most recent most generic pop-hits.
The food was ok - for starters they bring you a warm baguette (?) with caramelized onions on top with a gallop of whipped butter in a puddle of olive oil. First, caramelized onions haven't added anything to the bread except slightly charred taste. The bread itself was good- personally i would add a minute to bake it more, but I can't say it was underbaked.
The butter was the star of the dinner- soft and infused with herbs, it was an unexpected pleasant surprise.
Next tuna tartar- well prepared, but nothing special.
Oysters- fresh, but you could better by going to a fishmonger and getting oysters there. Also, would be nice if horseradish was offered.
Sea bass and cod were well prepared- but you wouldn't remember it next day.
Exotic Mushrooms- the best part of the dinner - they had very potent mushroom taste and smell and were properly seasoned.
The rest- wine, port wine, water, espresso- nothing uninspiring , but also not memorable.
Suggestions to the mgmt:
1. change your decor- it is too sterile. Also, instead of fake trees you could put little flower bouquets or banzai trees.
2. Invest in better music- Spotify ($10/m) has better playlists than what you play.
3. Cut your menu and try to deliver a more memorable food, rather than just catering to everybody's taste by offering chicken/steak/fish.
Fantastic dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite of every course. Wow.
Food was spot on. The dining room was a bit impersonal and noisy, and seats were not very comfortable. We started with a shot of tequila with our oysters. I had the sea bream in trevisano leaf, and my husband had the paella, and both were fabulous. For dessert we shared the famous snow egg (which did not disappoint!) and the warm chocolate torte. Lots of crying kids all around us thruout a Friday night meal, which nearly ruined a $350 dinner...
Excellent restaurant that we frequent often. The seafood/fish are beyond fresh and consistently so. LOVE it here and will continue to go!
Bad night. Slow service and distracted waitstaff. We felt like we were more than they could handle. Took a long time to even order drinks and they were very slow coming. From then on the food came late and badly timed. For the prices they charge the food was just so so. We could hardly hear each other at the table. Something is definitely off. New management? I would not hurry back and will recommend slowly. Too bad
Delightful setting with pleasant, attentive staff. The food in taste and presentation was exquisite. Ostra may well be the finest seafood restaurant in Boston. It certainly has the most inviting atmosphere.
