Decided on a nice dinner my last night in town. Menu was appealing so I made a rez here. First thing I noticed was the noise level. It was hard to hear a soft spoken server. Of course, many were well oled from the Gasparilla festivities.
Started with the octopus which was delicious as advertised, though I would have preferred more octopus and less potatoes.
I really wanted a starter portion of the cacio e pepe, but was told that the pasta dishes were preproprtioned and no half orders allowed. Seems a little odd.
Had the cioppino which was good, rather tomatoey as the server said. One unopened mussel that the kitchen should have caught.
I would definitely return. One star less because of the noise level.
First time here and the food was excellent. Not sure if it was the dinner rush or business as usual but the service was incredibly slow and inconsistent. Took a while to get silverware and napkins... drink orders were delayed... took a few reminders to get orders taken and delivered. But go figure—the food was easily worth the wait. Another customer might not have been so forgiving and walked out in 10 mins. I’ll chalk it up to a bad night at the office.
This was or 3rd visit to Osteria. All the different appetizers and meals we tried were top notch as always. The waitress was very helpful and accommodating under the circumstances. She was spread out over the whole restaurant due to an event which management should have foreseen. The ambiance was great other than part of the areas include restrooms which were unattended with plumbing problems and a mess. Success is being on top of your game under all circumstances. We will return and see if they are back to normal. Tampa now has many options and we travel from across the bay for fine dining. Also the xmas offering of $20.00 should have explanation as for usage attached. I would have scored 5 stars.
Had a 7:15 reservation seated at 7:15. At 7:35 left the restaurant. No one had come to our table. The hostess did not seem at all concerned when when we returned our menues and walked out the door.
Really liked the menu. Though the presentation was really nice, the food was disappointing. The caprese salad had part skim mozzarella not whole milk. The osso bucco I ordered was cooked perfectly, but there was almost no sauce which is an important part of the dish. The restaurant was very loud. It was hard to have a conversation. The service was slow even though there were a lot of empty tables near us. For that kind of money, I doubt I'll go back.
Food wasn’t as good as last time but still like. I was disappointed they were out of my first two beer and first wine selection
Great food; the menu is extensive and the dishes are prepared well. Service was a little hit-or-miss; the server forgot our starter order and delivered our main courses instead, but kitchen was short-staffed so it could have been anyone's issue. The manager generously comped us a nice dessert instead. Nice restaurant and I would visit again.
We had some family visiting (1st time in Tampa for them) from out of town, staying near the convention center so we chose Osteria Tampa for its excellent food and location. We were not disappointed. The service was phenomenal, as usual, and the food was "to die for!" Our guests, who are from a very small town and have limited experience with food, absolutely loved everything. We all tried each other's entrees and exclaimed over how delicious everything was! Our server was excellent and made some really good recommendations. She checked on us constantly without being intrusive, but our water glasses never got below ½ full. I highly recommend Osteria Tampa as one of the area's best Italian restaurants.
Pasta prepared truly as in italy
Food was outstanding. Sat outside on a beautiful night. Service was warm, engaging and unobtrusive. Highly recommend.
Delicious food with perfect presentation. Attentive server. We ate outside and a bit distracting at times with traffic. Interesting menu selection. Well worth dining here!
We had a wonderful dining experience and impeccable service at Osteria!
The outside seating was really nice - we sat next to the bar and there was a heater there incase we needed it (we did not). As far as the service - I don't remember her name - she was very helpful and personable throughout the evening. Food overall was amazing - my pasta - the housemate pasta with the short rib was good - some of the pasta was stuck together and undercooked - so it bummed me out a bit. My daughter had the bolognese and my mom the ravioli - both excellent - and nice portions. The wine took about 20 minutes to get to the table from ordering it to it being poured - so that was a bit disappointing as well. Overall - I would go back to try the other dishes - it was excellent overall.
We have always had a great experience when we dining at Osteria. The food and service was excellent.
Delicious as always! Had the mediterranean salad and the Bolognese - both outstanding. Also enjoyed the Lychee martini - fabulous!
Wonderful experience!! We are rather new to the Tampa area so what a joy to find such an enjoyable restaurant. Our server Savannah was a delight from the moment we met her! She made some recommendations based on my input and she could not have been more spot on. The pasta is made in house and will melt in your mouth. We had the ravioli and the gnocchi. I should also say their lemon cheesecake dessert is a must. The place is relaxing, a nice atmosphere and most importantly really good food and service. The general manager Tye stopped by to make sure we enjoyed our meal and we ended up really liking him as well. He is passionate about Osteria and has a great rapport with his customers and team. We will definitely be back!!
Great food. Decadent flourless chocolate cake!
Great service. Lamb was overpriced and not that good. Pasta in a jar was delectable.
Our server was great and very accommodating. We were there on New Years Day and the restaurant didn't have four of it's main dishes. I will still go back as this is a great place and I think they didn't plan in advance for the holiday week.
Enjoyable outside seating but incredibly slow service. Seated at 6:00 and had to rush to be finished to go to the theater at 8:00.
Had a dinner date with my wife prior to a show. Was excited to try this restaurant ad we enjoy trying new places. Was a bit disappointed as when we arrived at 5:45 pm as our seating was in the hallway by the kitchen. We asked for a different table and the hostess seemed bothered. We ordered drinks and they came out totally wrong and horrible. Our waitress apologized and indicated that she would have the other bartender who is her girlfriend make them over. Salads were ok by nothing special like the Ulele beet , pear and goat cheese salad. Based on the waitress recommendation, we tried two different pasta dishes which were very good but lackluster totally in presentation. The service was very slow and the good news is that the manager took my wine order for dinner which worked out well. Overall, I would try the restaurant again to see if our experience would be better.
Amazing food, amazing service, great ambiance. One of my favorite restaurants.
We arrived early and were seated at the bar until they opened the restaurant. We were escorted to our table on time and were waited on immediately. The server was very helpful with the menu and any specials. The appetizer was the Spanish octopus which was very good. My wife had eggplant and I had braised short ribs both of which were very good. Definitely would go back.
This is a really good restaurant. One of the best in Tampa. This was our second time here and it gets better. The octopus was fresh, not chewy but very tasty. The rigatoni in a jar was great and it was presented well. The cioppino was delicious and they did not skimp on the shrimp or crab. And of course the bombolone was delicious and a great way to end the meal. Drinks are good and creative though they seem a tad pricey. Still it is a great experience.
The food is always outstanding
While waiting for our table the bar is really nice.downside once we were seated it took 20 minutes for our server. We had to ask for bread.
This was a very elegant spot. The staff was great. The night was wonderful.
Very enjoyable! Service was excellent, food was fantastic! We will certainly return!
We made a reservation and were seated on time. When we asked to not have a 2-top table (there were just 2 of us), they seated us without a blink in a cute little table in the corner where we could sit side by side. Our waiter, John, was personable and helpful and drinks and the meal came promptly. We had the Frito Misto appetizer -- really good, I could have made a meal of it -- warning, it is big, you need at least 2 people. My husband had the Fruta DiMare - he said the pasta was great, and he's really strict about pasta. I had the Cioppino -- it was yummy-- really recommend it. In short, I will definitely go back.
First of all I can not say enough about our server. She was wonderful. The food was perfectly timed. She offered a smile and some insights but was not overbearing. The food was excellent. We shared the smoked mozzarella appetizer. My husband had the lamb shank and said it was quite tender. He is not a fan of gnocchi but said these were delicious in the roquefort sauce. I had the seafood tagliatelle after a few bites I gave up on the pasta and just tried to finish the seafood. The pasta was great but there was sooo much food. We shared the limoncello cheesecake with expresso. Great ending. The dessert was very light and airy.
Great environment and Buzz....excellent food
Our dinner before a show at The Straz was wonderful at Osteria. Some great wine choices to go with some fantastic dishes. Seafood pasta, beef short ribs and pasta and pizza for the table along with attentive service at a perfect pace made for a great start to our evening.
It was a wonderful evening. Savannah was one of the best waitresses I've ever had. Very attentive. Loves her job and it shows.
Food was amazing and our server was wonderful! So knowledgable and friendly, we will definitely be back!!
The branzino was very good and overflowing with green vegetables and potatoes. The fish which I asked for without the head and tail was cooked with rosemary sprigs and slices of lemon. The potatoes were seasoned beautifully and were among the best potatoes I've tasted. At $40 though, I thought the dish was overpriced. I would have been happy to have fewer vegetables and potatoes and paid a more typical $30-$35 price. The margarita pizza was tasty but very thin. Some folks like their pizza very thin. The limoncello cheesecake was excellent, even exceptional, but the slice was thin, certainly not for sharing---at $10 we felt it was overpriced.
It is obvious that management wants to ensure patrons receive a good experience because the manager came by a couple of times to talk to us (and we are not celebrities). We liked that. Overall we enjoyed the restaurant and it's unusual wall murals and would certainly return again and recommend when in downtown Tampa to try their other offerings.
Another great meal at Osteria. The staff here is awesome, welcoming and fun.
Food was great. Close proximity to the Straz, so it was very convenient as well.
Fantastic as always. Definitely coming back!! Rigatoni in a jar is special!
consistently outstanding food and service. A very involved management team who participate in food delivery, wine selection, and ensuring a great experience. We had the short ribs and the lamb shank and they were both outstanding. The super Tuscan recommendation was spot on. Another wonderful evening....even the young man who parked the car wanted to know what we ate and talked about his favorite pasta dish. These folks are doing something right when their staff is that enthusiastic and involved .
The food was very tasty. Our waiter was great overall good service
