We had a great time for New Years Eve dinner. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere very vibrant.
This has been my favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego for over 10 years, the experience is great, staff is awesome and the food is insanely good!
Never expected what we had in mind. First of all the food was unbelievable. And the ambience was very quiet. We were looking for some vegetarian options and this one had a very good menu of options. Even though we order some of the items we regularly eat outside, the taste and authenticity is mind blowing.
Truffle risotto was the best thing ever. Spinach pesto ravioli was also amazing.
Visiting San Diego. Walking distance from hotel in gas lamp district
Nice place for inside and patio dining
Got there at 8pm. First night In California. We got very limited service and no bread. Our server disappeared on multiple occasions. Really can’t recommend a place we spent really good money for a meal with no true value. I have never given a bad review.. I hope they fix their issues. I am only here a couple of days.
Great food and delicious blueberry lemontini. The Osso Buco and pistachio crusted salmon were superb. The staff were attentive, yet not overbearing. Excellent authentic Italian dinner in the Gaslamp.
We were visiting San Diego with our three children. We had a wonderful dinner here. I had the cioppino with gluten free pasta and it was outstanding! My older kids each ordered a pizza and it is definitely large enough to share. The portions are substantial and the fold is just delicious!
Family Christmas dinner. We got a variety of dishes including ravioli, sea bass, lamb shank and gnocchi with lobster. The food was delicious and well-seasoned. It was definitely a great place to spend Christmas dinner at.
We were visiting from out of town and took our family to Panevino for Christmas dinner. Service was excellent; professional and engaging. Food was generally great. I had one of the Christmas special dishes, a lamb ossobucco, which was delicious and perfectly prepared. My wife ordered the cinghiale sausage pasta, which was fine, but the sausage was prepared like a typical sweet italian sausage, so the spices covered up most of the flavors of the wild boar.
My sister-in-law ordered a gnocchi with lobster dish that was spectacular and included an entire lobster tail. Great place for family/special occasions. Highly recommended.
All time favorite Italian Restaurant in the Gaslamp!!
Delicious authentic Italian food and excellent service! 2nd time at this location and both times I was extremely impressed, a must repeat.
The food was very good and the servings very generous. The wait staff were pleasant; attententive without being intrusive. Definitely will return.
Recommend Pappardelle, Ravioli and the gentleman waiter from Palermo!
We were very impressed with the welcoming and hospitable service we received at Osteria Panevino. The wedge salad was excellent and more than enough to share. We both ordered Lasagne Bolognese, and it was very good. Again, it was a large portion, and one would have sufficed, especially since we were travelling. I would have appreciated knowing this in advance.
Awesome food!! Impeccable service .
Awesome, awesome, awesome. The people, the service and course the food! This is our "go to place" for special occasions. We have never been disappointed. We would HIGHLY recommend this lovely restaurant.
Really loved everything here! Our waiter Mario was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding! We will go back!
Party of six. The waiter originally did not want to split the check, and when we split it ourselves he took a while to take the cards, then said it will be easier if he just split it himself. It added almost an extra 20 minutes to get out of the restaurant. Also they charged for table bread but didn't say that in the beginning.
Good food, not so good service.
We have visited Osteria Panevino several times and like to take our out-of-town guests there because it is (normally) a great experience. Not this time. Drinks went unfilled. We had to ask twice for bread and three times for butter. As a party of six, we were spending quite a bit, but I felt like we had to beg for attention and the staff only begrudgingly waited on us. None were very friendly like we are used to. The food was great, as expected, but we felt stupid for raving about the place and were embarrassed because adequate service was so lacking. Very disappointed.
Fantastico in every way. Delicious and ample. Fair pricing and superb service from Giancarlo!
One of the best.
Panevino never disappoints me! Amazing food, everyone is so welcoming , very authentic Italian restaurant. We celebrate a friends birthday they brought dessert and sang happy birthday. Once again an amazing experience!
Excellent food and value. The bartender female was a little grouchy. Server was fine. Nice location.
WOW. WOW. WOW!!!! Osteria Panevino was amazing! We have been there before and it has always been great, but they went above and beyond this time! We had some family in town and wanted to take them to a very nice (but not super fancy) happy hour and then dinner. Our host/waiter/possibly-the-manager whose name I do not recall was fantastic! So nice and friendly and funny and accommodating and informative and fast and attentive...he went above and beyond! Excellent service. Tasty drinks. Great wine for serious wine people. And did I mention the food...absolutely fabulous! Good vegetarian options. We were there for a couple of hours and never felt rushed. We drank and chatted with our family that we had not seen for a while and they kept the drinks coming and when we ordered food, it arrived straightaway. Every last bit of food was consumed. Our out-of-town guests now have this amazing story to tell and think that San Diego is the best place to visit because they had such a fabulous time! We are definitely going to bring all of our visitors here! I have absolutely totally nothing bad to say at all and think it was just entirely a wonderful experience! Thank you Osteria Panevino!!
We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving meal here! The staff was so attentive (even though there were a lot of guests!). The food was delicious and the wine was perfectly paired. We especially loved the camaraderie between the employees. You can definitely tell they are like family and they were quick to jump in to help each other. We will definitely be back next time we're in San Diego!
They sold on dessert but as soon as the check was paid rushed us to vacate (due to other bookings) Left a bad taste for a fine evening on thanksgiving night.
We live in Laguna Beach. I brought my wife here for a date the night before she ran a 5K for the Run for The Hungry in San Diego! My wife had their specialty Pappardelle Rague Porcini. She loved it! I ordered the special for the day a Tomahawk Sirloin Steak. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection! We both took home 1/2 of our dinner because the portions were generous. Great service and ambiance.
Been going for more than 20 years. Always excellent and welcoming.
Fantastic food and service!! Our waiter, Giuseppo, was amazing! We will return for sure!!
We went for brunch. The benedict is great. Good prices for the area as well.
Ordered the Tomahawk steak cooked medium from the daily special menu and it arrived with parts of the steak rare some parts medium and some medium well. Very unbalanced cooking of this steak and for $65 I was not impressed.
Our food came out before we got our bottle of wine. They rush you, I don't call it dining I call it get in there and eat fast and leave quickly that's how they treat you. And the food was good not great but good.
If you like Italian food this is a venue with good quality food, decently priced and a decent wine list. You won't regret it if you go.
Brought my parents over, had the best time! Food was delicious and service, very friendly and professional! Thank you!
We love this restaurant in San Diego’s Gaslamp. The food is delicious, home made and the staff is outstanding. Super friendly. Giuseppe is a star!!! He treats my husband with a swallowing problem requiring special prep like family. ;-)
This restaurant was just OK. The food was a little bland and wasn't particularly special. The service was pretty good, although it was more European style - we had to waive someone down to get the check; our water was not refilled during dinner, even when empty; and at least one item was incorrect. Next time I will look for something in Little Italy instead.
I had the swordfish, which is hard to make authentic Italian but the vegetables felt Italian and made the meal.
Two co-workers ordered lasagna which looked much better. It comes served in its own pan and neither of them could finish.
We sat outside and it was pleasant. While my meal wasn’t amazing, I did want to go back for the lasagna.
Food was so good the night before, i went back. Another delicious and authentic Italian dinner
Buratta salad with prosciutto olives and arugula was work of kitchen magic
For the price I was expecting more quality. Even though, I mentioned to them I was celebrating my mother's 70 they just ignored it.
Good was amazing fresh, service was prompt. Wine was delicious. The recommended gelato and that was great as well.
