Excellent food excellent service the best in San Diego Downtown
Overall a solid restaurant. We were there for dinner on a Sunday evening at 6:00 pm. The whole Gaslamp area seemed deserted... the restaurant did not start to fill up until around 7:00 pm. We ordered the clam/mussels appetizer, a pasta, two salads (with prawns), and a kids meal. Highlights:
1. the Prawns were really GOOD! For something seemingly simple, hats off to the restaurant for meticulously preparing and grilling each prawn. I will start to make prawns this way from now on.
2. the portion for the kids meal was generous. Very good!
Appetizers were good. But main dishes such as seared tuna were so salty that I had to ask the waiter to take it away. My guests also complained foods were too salty not well prepared.
Excellent Italian food and wine
If you’re looking for a bite of Italy in San Diego, this is the perfect place. The food and wine are excellent with great hosts who speak Italian. Great happy hour menu!
Attentive, friendly but not intrusive service. Great food, lovely ambiance.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.
We had a wonderful dinner here while visiting San Diego. The place has a very upbeat vibe and attractively decorated. The menu has many selections without getting out of hand. All was not perfect which is fine since they handled the issue very well. My wife had a chicken dish and her chicken was a little rubbery. Since the rest of the dish was delicious and she didn't want anything else when they offered to change it, the comped her dinner. My chicken warm (my go to dish in a new restaurant) was very good. One judges an Italian restaurant by their sauce and this place doesn't disappoint. I would definitely return. I couldn't give it 5 stars because of our issue but I would have given it a lower rating if they did not handle it well as so many places do. Service was exceptional. Not an issue there.
We had a fabulous meal at Panevino. Some of the best Italian food we have ever eaten. Out of this world veal osso bucco and carbonara! Great service and ambiance. Highly recommend.
Fabulous Italian that has been around for over 20 years and I can see why !
Great service , not hovering but always there to top up your wine when needed . Delicious food , as good as any you may have in Italy .
It’s a must try !!
Great evening. Everyone in the party enjoyed their food and drinks. The service was very good. His recommendation of wines was good.
Excelente servicio, la comida deliciosa!
Our wait staff was outstanding. We had 3 couples and he kindly provided separate checks. The cioppino , steak, fish entrees were outstanding and the lobster mashed potatoes were great.
The food and service were good but the tables were jammed together uncomfortably. Servers kept bumping into us to squeeze by to get to neighboring tables. There are better and more comfortable restaurants nearby.
Good pasta and main dishes. Salads were minimal. Not worth it for the money
Food was excellent!
Get the meat sauce with paperdelle! Best meat sauce ever.
Too bad the truffles tasted toxic on the risotto. Never had that experience before with truffles but the meat sauce and paperdelle was so amazing it more than made up for it.
We came for Christmas lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious. They were very accommodating of my 4yo's dietary preferences. Lovely place.
Horrible service for me, my family and my friends.
I made a reservation table at 9pm and 9:10 they are told me that the kitchen was going to close, so I could order the food very fast.
I don't come back and I don't tell anyone to go there.
We were visiting family member Who now lives in San Diego. We are from New Orleans where there are many fine restaurants. This one ranks up there. The service was topnotch and the food was excellent. We each had a different entree and everyone was very very happy with their’s.
If you’re in the area, I would definitely recommend you try this restaurant.
Service was impeccable and location was amazing. I can not recommend this hotel highly enough.
Everything was wonderful! Waiter suggested a delicious red wine, lasagna Bolognese was absolutely delicious... and I am Italian and hard to please. A great Christmas Eve family dinner.
Still some of the best Italian food in San Diego!!
Food was delicious! Service was great and we can actually hear each other! And the Italian sunset.... yummy!
Enjoyed our experience. Food was amazing!
Wonderful service by an staff of what look to be Italian supermodels. Food was definitely good, maybe not the best you’ve ever had but the view was worth it.
Great spot for dinner. We loved the food, and energy of the staff. In particular we loved the short rib gnocchi.
Had a late notice opportunity to grab dinner with several co-workers (18) and went to Open Table and found Osteria. The service we received was great. It was a fairly slow night in the restaurant but I believe we would still have been satisfied if busier. In a nut shell the wine was great, apps good, and everyone's entree seemed good. The only course which was more standard was dessert. Didn't seem house made. I would go back if I found myself in a similar spot.
A little bland the pasta of the day
Fantastic ambiance, food and service... we’ll be back next time we’re in San Diego!!! Bon appetit
Wonderful service and food.
The food was very good, albeit pricey. I would have appreciated a little less in portion for a more reasonable price. The specials were $45-49... making it a $65 meal with a cappuccino (no appetizer, no salad, no dessert, no alcohol). I like the decor and ambience, but this time, the doors were left open and cigarette smoke from the patio was strongly present for the entire meal. It was not warm inside...we all kept our coats on.
Always excellent food and service. Very genuine. Like a trip to Italy!
Fantastic. Food was over the top!!!
My husband and I dined here on Thanksgiving evening. The service and food was excellent. The entrees were very pricy and most do not include sides. My husband ordered a pounded chicken dish. It had two very small thin pieces of chicken and a thin piece of eggplant beneath for $25. He thought it tasted excellent but needed a side of potatoes. We did order a side salad as well but he still left hungry. It was also very loud and people are seated close to other guests. Overall we loved our experience but wish there was more food for the money.
Lovely restaurant, great vibe and atmosphere. Food was delicious and service was impeccable.
We were on a short getaway from Palm Springs area and read good reviews of this restaurant. We sat on the patio where we could peoplewatch and its not as noisy. The lentil doup, Pasta carbonara and artichoke Non-dairy ravioli were all delicious. As Marriott platinum members we were also able to take it vantage of a 20% discount on the food portion of the bill.Service was excellent. We plan to return.
Too bright. Not good. Food was sub par. Calamari was gross and obviously older. Not fresh. Ravioli was meh. Employees licking their fingers and smoking weed. Lava cake was slimy and served with a tablespoon of frostbite nice cream.
