   I have been a customer of the Osteria since it first opened in Palo Alto over 35 years ago-and always enjoyed dining there over the years- However -the last 3 times I have eaten there - a Sunday morning breakfast , a lunch and a dinner-I have been extremely disappointed with the food they are serving now - either it is tasteless, or it is so overly spiced it has to be sent back to the kitchen The legacy of family ownership and careful attention attention in the kitchen that was present for so many years has clearly been forsaken- --I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone until they return to the careful attentive, stewardship in place for so many years- 3 of 4 oof us were unhappy with our dinners-veal osteria, chicken parmesan, and the lamb dish- only one ok with what was served -as they only had an appetizer

   This was our first time for lunch, but we have had dinner at Osteria many times over the years. My salad was limp - not as fresh as I'm used to at dinner, but there was plenty of dressing that i have always liked. Everything else was good and much appreciated by our friends.

   The food was wonderful on Mother's Day. Our server did her best to keep up, but the restaurant was obviously understaffed. I am sure the service is much better on regular days. We will definitely go again.

   Very nice Italian restaurant with an old school feel. Not cheap, but worth the cost of admission. Service is excellent, and so is the food. Definitely worth going

   Two waiters only and they were having difficulties with Matre d. Food and bread were slow n arriving. Left early because of service delays.

    Came here for dinner on a Saturday night recently (5/6/23) with two teenage boys and four adults (three generations there). Everyone loved their meals. Salads were like the best of Rome; light vinaigrette dressings, fresh and crunchy greens. The entrees were excellent, me the veal piccata, the dad had lamb shanks, one boy had lasagne and the younger one had pasta with only butter and a piece of salmon on the side (special request happily accepted). Papa had a ravioli with braised beef, mom had pasta with muscles. Dessert: tira misu to die for, and the 13 year old's first flan which was a big hit! Sweetest kindest server, immaculate table dressing and lovely atmosphere; big glass window to the outside evening sunshine and no tables close by. Outside would have been lovely too but it was too cold to consider. Will go again.

    We were 4 people at a relatively small table. Ordered both white and red wine which instantly led to very crowded table with all the glasses (no plates yet). Asked about larger table but none offered; assumed that, as in the past, they were going to be full. Restaurant was never close to full during our dinner; bread was balanced on the window sill.

    We were there very early, before a concert. There were only two others tables filled, so we cannot say much about noise levels when the place is full. My husband enjoyed the rigatoni with lamb, remarking that the pasta was perfectly cooked. My pesce ravioli was delicious. We also had the buffalo mozzarella caprese, which was very good.     Terrible experience.. the management tried to over charge us sneakily. When we pointed out the mistakes, the manager was least apologetic.. they still charged us 25% gratuity. Easy decision - never coming back here. Lots of better places in Palo Alto

    The longtime Manager is superb. The service perfect. Been eating here for many years. The Calamari steaks are the best in the USA! The artichoke appetizer with shrimp salad is delicious. He past are all fantastic. We go for many special occassion. So much better than any other restuarants in PA. Prices are higher but still worth it and reflection of these inflated times....

    The food was amazing, the Jumbo Prawns and the sauce they are in.....heavenly! Also our Waiter, Francisco is amazing.....very attentive and generous. Francisco was a large part of a memorable evening. Highly recommend the Linguine Tutto Mare and for Dessert the Affogato! The Italian wine Francisco suggested was also amazing! I can't wait to return......If you go to Osteria Toscana be sure to ask for Francisco!

    Small tables crammed in a small space add to the authentic ambiance. Portions are American sized but if carefully chosen, you can enjoy a meal including antipasto, primo, secondo, and dolce e caffè.

    Very busy on friday night - food was OK, quite expensive as usual for Palo Alto; had to wait a few minutes to be seated despite having booking. Had to wait about 15 mins between placing order and dinner arriving.

    These guys are amazing. It’s now on my international list of favorite Italian restaurants to return to. They make the food with love, you can tell - not only is it great Italian food, they make it with their own personality. Definitely recommend!

    We were celebrating our 30th anniversary! 30 years ago we celebrated our engagement at Osteria! We love this place. The waiter, Francisco, was fantastic—funny attentive, and knowledgeable! We devoured the carpaccio (one of our favs). My tortellini al panna was so yummy. My husband loved his veal. The whole evening was fantastic!

    Great Calamari Steak and butter lettuce salad. The seating arrangement is tight and the atmosphere noisy but the calamari steak has been a go to meal for ten years is worth any ambience challenges.

    Have not been to Osteria in a long time. Forgot what I was missing. Minestrone was tasty, penne excellent and loved the tiramisu. Will surely make it a regular stop from now on. Wish u had a hard liquor license.
