Birthday celebration. Took our time. Loved our server. Didn’t rush us. So nice. Food was outstanding. Server gave us some gelato and a candle to celebrate!
Osteria has been our family restaurant since 1986. We love the food and appreciate the pivots to outdoor dining.
Food was ok. Carbonara had too much cream and was soupy. The eggplant was smothered in sauce. Bruschetta didn’t have much taste. Service was great however. Food was mediocre. Disappointed.
Excellent service and dinner. Very friendly staff who were very attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food and service at Osteria are consistently excellent.
Great food, especially great pasta. The service was wonderful and had a lovely time. Will be back soon.
Great food and service, nice place to spend New Years Eve.
Very disappointing New Year’s Eve family dinner. The cozze and vongele appetizer was basically broken shells in tomato sauce. There were maybe 6-7 pieces of edible clams and mussels which is outrageous for the $$$. The procuitto and melon appetizer was 3 thin slices of melon and 4 shaved slices of procuitto— again not worth $17.50. Place is way overpriced for what you get.
Really not worth going back.
Courteous, friendly, and efficient staff, food was delicious.
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve Dinner with you. Thank you for the lovely service and delicious food!
Thank you for being a part of an Osteria tradition serving Christmas eve dinner for over 30years. It was a pleasure to serve you.
Great spot for a birthday dinner and pre theater meal. Food and service were good.
My spinach salad was fresh and good but not too special. The mussels appetizer was in a very delicious sauce. Bread was hard and difficult to separate. Service was very good.
I DON'T LIKE FRANK SINATRA MUSIC - I think it cheapens my dinner experience. There was also some Billie Holiday which I enjoyed, but no one should have to eat dinner while listening to Frank Sinatra's New York,NY
Our wine, appetizers, entrees, and dessert were all excellent. Our waitress Caylee was fun, friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Our group of four had a truly wonderful evening. Thank you!
We went to Osteria for the very first time last night. We picked this restaurant by looking at location and of course, on-line menu. The food and wine selection is exceptional and there were 3 of us, so we had to try appetizers and 3 different entrees. Everything was excellent. The chef even went out of his/her way to prepare my veal in a manner not exactly on the menu. And my wife had ravioli and said that they were the best she's ever had! The wines were perfect and so was the service. We'll be back, no doubt about that!
Thank for the 5 star review and welcome to the Osteria family! We hope we can serve you and your guests again soon and if we can personally assist you please let us know.
It met our needs and then some. Great spot.
Everyone was very friendly; was able to enjoy a nice leisurely lunch catching up with a friend.
Food was delicious & they accommodated us 30 mins earlier than our reservation time.
Being it was our first time to Osteria in Palo Alto, CA…
Food overall tastes very good, except for the “seafood ravioli (special)” which was disappointing because it lacks flavors.
Our waitress, Viorica, was nice but she was inattentive (i.e. forgot our main courses until we reminded her 30+ minutes later, had no refills for our water and kept getting distracted with the party next to our table).
If you have extra time then give Osteria a try.
The new owners are starting to make tweaks to the menu. One of the long-time favorites of regulars has been the Fettuccine Carbonara. The difference is subtle, but if you've eaten as many plates as I have over the years, you notice. I have to say, I like the new version better: it's lighter and more "Roman".
Food not as good as we remember it. Our lasagna practically had no pasta in it, it was mostly sauce. The carpaccio was scarce.
Great food. It's like going to a little place in Italy.
There's a reason this place has been in business since 1986. The food, the service and the atmosphere are superb!
Thank you for the love and for helping us continue the Osteria tradition. We hope to have another opportunity to serve you and your guests again soon.
Osteria's is a restaurant that you can always count on for delicious food, great service and a lovely time out! Enjoy!
We had a late lunch and everything was
Kind of small restaurant. Food was exquisite. Service was very friendly. Try their ink squid pasta. Yum yum
Food was very good, and graciously served. In response to the pandemic, they have spaced the tables inside further apart, which for us was a delight. They have more than made up for it with a healthy set of outside tables as well. A really good restaurant.
The gnocchi in creamy pesto sauce was fantastic. Very fluffy.
I was very disappointed to find that only outdoor seating was available. The host informed me that I needed to make a “special request” for indoor seating. The server helped us make the best of it, but it was a very cold night and therefore an uncomfortable and rushed meal.
Pasta entree was a bit overpriced. Quality was good, but not great.
The food and service was very good. There were three of us, and we chose to eat dinner outdoors (thank you for that opportunity!). We enjoyed the many heaters, and the street noise was not bad. Two of us had good sized portions, but one of us had an undersized portion (mezzaluna pasta). The bread was outstanding! I would definitely return.
Osteria has done a good job of managing the pandemic. Outdoor tables are well-spaced, plenty of effective space heaters, staff wear masks. Service was responsive and timely.
The food however left a lot to be desired. You'd think an Italian restaurant would know that pasta is not supposed to be mushy, and that tomato sauce should taste like tomatoes. Not so. My ravioli were so soft they could've fed a baby with two teeth. The sauce was gloppy and without texture; it reminded me of condensed tomato soup. The salad was drowning in dressing and had exactly ONE cherry tomato.
Prices for this seem pretty high. $15 for the salad. $25 for about 10 little ravioli.
Food was great. Has a home cooked Italian taste. A little disappointed that they charged $2.50 for hot water. Never had that before.
We have always found to be very consistent and enjoyable. Sitting outside was very warm and comfortable. Main course was really hot when it came out and we really appreciated that.
We made a dinner reservation at Osteria after reading the positive reviews. We were greeted and shown to our table by friendly staff who made sure we were warm and comfortable. They promptly took our water and drinks order and sent over the complimentary warm bread and olive oil. We ordered the winter salad which was excellent followed by the Seafood Linguini and Gnocchi in pesto sauce. The 0portion size is quite generous (I had to box most of mine - the gnocchi ) and the linguini had plenty of seafood. My husband particularly enjoyed the sauce and commented on the plentiful nature of the seafood in it. Though we did not have any room for dessert, it was hard to say no to some Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was good, not excellent as the ratio of whipped cream to other ingredients wasn’t quite right - too much cream. Minor point but compared to the salad and the mains, this wasn’t as good. We will certainly be back as the ambience, service, food and wine were all good!
Excellent service and food.
The table was perfect. They go to great lengths to please and are very welcoming
Great staff, food, and ambiance. Outdoor seating was nice.
I ordered the PAPPARDELLE alla BOLOGNESE. My friend ordered the POLLO al MARSALA. Both were delicious and we both took leftovers home. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Thank you for your 5 star review. On behalf of all of us at Osteria we greatly appreciate the love! We hope you will join us again soon.
The food here s just horrible. It is not the same as it used to be unfortunately.
The food is amazing as well as the staff & service
