It's a cute little restaurant with great service and delicious food. Had the Coquilles St. Jacques and was surprised at how hearty it was. My brother had the steak and was very pleased.
This was our first visit and we would love to come back! Very charming, cozy interior space, with attractive artwork on the walls, dark woods and an overall intimate feell. The music was lively but soft enough that it served to enhance the background but in no way did it interfere with conversation We originally were going to eat in there outside and closed tent but it was freezing cold and the diners were spaced far apart inside that we were comfortable dining room inside.
Service was warm and very attentive, including both the hostess and our waiter.
The food was delicious. My wife and I had the eggplant hummus and bursars appetizers, both beautifully prepared and delicious. Our companion had the French onion soup which he said had a “rich taste.“ Entrées were the lobster risotto,, the coquille Saint Jacques and the beef Bourguignon.
The scallops were divine, beautifully cooked in a velvety buttery sauce. The lobster risotto was delicious with Very well cooked rice and a lot of lobster flavor. However I would have liked a few larger chunks of lobster, as it was hard to tell where the actual lobster meat was. Our companion felt that his beef Bourguignon was “good“ though not special.
We had a wonderful, well priced bottle of French Chardonnay which the hostess offered to let us taste before we ordered it. We were too full for desserts so we will have to sample them next time! This place is a keeper. Great for a date, a regular social occasion or a business meal.
Really great ambiance, food was delicious. Will be going back in the future
Outdoor space was nice but very noisy. Portions were large. Food was very tasty. Will return once I feel comfortable eating indoors.
Only one problem, wrote on my reservation to include birthday candle for dessert and also reminded waiter and then dessert came with NO candle ☹️
Very interesting menu.
Excellent French Onion soup!
Beautiful outdoor setup. Good heaters and ventilation. Excellent service by our server. Very good food.
Dinner was great and I loved the Ella Fitzgerald songs being played. don’t miss the lobster bisque and crème brûlée
Great value for price
Highly recommend! The food is delish and the drinks are too!! Great for a date night or just a girls night! And they have very pretty plates :)
Nice 1st date spot. Ambiance is nice and the food is good. Not too expensive with good service. Will be back
Staff is great
Ok but not great!
Service was very good. Nice atmosphere.
Dishes were a little hit and miss. Mine was quite good - my wife did not enjoy hers (vegetables were overcooked)
Great spot. We are coming back next week with 12 others
The hostess was very accommodating- we had our kids with us and ordered family style, which may be the opposite for a European style restaurant. In addition, as we ordered moderate priced Cabernet Sauvignons, both of which turned out to be out of stock, she suggested a Barolo. But charged us the cheaper bottle’s price. The staff was friendly and attentive. It’s a great neighborhood restaurant and we’re returnees.
Decent food, friendly service, outside seating much too noisy because of 2nd Avenue
The food was not very good. It was either overcooked or undercooked
Food was amazing!!! Fish tacos for appetizer and main dish was very flavorful.
Food was barely warm, the drinks not very good. Ambiance and decor were great.
What a great find right in my own backyard! My friend and I Loved our dinner .. so fresh and delicious. For the main dishes we both though our portions of fish and meat were too small, especially for the price. We had the Branzini and Beef Bourguignon. Also the red wine was just OK., not great.
Attracted by the menu, turned off by the food quality.
This restaurant could be great. They have a nice selection of Mediterranean inspired dishes. Ambiance is wonderful and the staff were pleasant and attentive. But the food preparation does not compare. My quinoa was well undercooked and the grilled chicken so overcooked that it was dry and rubbery. I don’t expect the steak used in Steak Frites to be high end dry aged beef, but we were offered the choice of how to cook it and our selection of medium rare arrived cooked through to the point of not resembling meat. On the other hand, The pea risotto was creamy and had great flavor. Grilled vegetables were done perfectly. And the fries were on the better end of what I’ve experienced anywhere recently.
Consistency and attention to cooking time would help this place survive. But I won’t be going back until the reviews indicate solid improvement in the food. After all, I’m paying mainly for the food when I eat out.
Took my aunt for her birthday, she never had beef bourguignon before and loved it. I had it as well and it was superb. Not burned like at other places.
Also, the complimentary wine (part of a promotion) that night was surprisingly…. Good! Not wishy washy or super sweet. Just right.
My husband and I had a lovely meal. This is a new place in the neighborhood that we wanted to try and we were not disappointed. The food, service and ambiance were top notch.
Menu is limited and several items were not available. Street noise is loud if dining outside. Staff is very friendly.
The restaurant presents itself as having Modern Mediterranean Cuisine. However, the menu reads more like a French Bistro than a Mediterranean restaurant. Despite that the food was good and service very good. I'll go back.
Really liked this menu - something for everyone - nice ambiance and friendly service. Will return
Was there for lunch but will definitely be heading back for dinner and more of the magical truffle fries.
We had the place to ourselves, and yet the service was not great.
The food was ok but only ok. Nothing stood out.
So, all in all, it was just meh.
The food was delicious. Sitting outside was lovely.
The food is always fresh and well presented and the menu is updated with the current market.
Music is much too loud to the point of it being uncomfortable.
Service has been great in the past but this time it seemed like the waitstaff had problems coordinating.
Food has been consistently good. Never rushed. Missed Happy Hour that was removed for weekends.
Amazing food and great live jazz music
Met two friends , for outside dining. Very nice
Mediocre food at best. Subpar beef bourguignon and onion soup. Branzino was a tiny piece and not very tender. Salad was good. Mousse was meh. Congenial service but pretty sloppy. They gave me the coq au vin accidentally instead of the beef (though the base for the coq au vin was suspiciously similar to the base of the beef bourguinon!) and the other diners with me were almost done with their meal by the time my correct dish came. They offered a complimentary glass of wine but I asked for a comped dessert instead. The class move would have been to comp the dish, which I would have refused but it would have been nice to be asked. Lovely environment, which makes it such a shame that the food wasn't very good. Why is it so hard to find food on the Upper East Side that compares with the rest of Manhattan!
This will be my third time eating here and it never disappoints. Food is great quality and always delicious. Selection is fantastic, although I’m hoping they put their filet Mingnon back on the menu as their peppercorn sauce was delicious. Have never had a bad experience here and always recommend to friends. One of my go to places now on the upper east.
Great, host David was nothing short of a pleasure!
I did. Not get points for My meal.
Why is that?
They took forever to seat us and the food wasn’t even that good. I think it was like $25 for a bowl. Ridiculous
Food was good but service wasn't great. We waited for the food for a while, which would've been fine if they asked us if we wanted more drinks.
