What Insiders Are Saying
One of LA's finest Italian restaurants, Osteria Mozza in Hollywood is still very much at the top of its game.
Food was amazing. Wife and I agree this is the new pasta place for us in LA. Service was great. Will be back again
It has been quite a few years since I first dined here and it was still really great! There is something special about a restaurant that can sustain for a long period and still keep up the standards and quality you can expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Its nothing groundbreaking or inventive, but just really good representations of authentic italian style food with a california twist.
If you have never been, check out the Netflix series Chefs Table season 3 episode 3 and you will understand why Nancy Silverton is so great!
We brought two kids and they loved the pasta!
This was our worst dining experience at Osteria Mozza. We were seated in the main dining room where the table had 6-inches of space next to the adjacent table. There was absolutely no privacy. The waiter was terrible. We had to order immediately or risk not seeing him for 30-minutes. We had to ask for the bread server, otherwize no bread was offered. The food was outstanding, but the dining experience was not worth the $200 we paid for two.
Recommend that you do not visit Osteria Mozza unless you get seated in the private dining room. The staff in that room is excellent.
Absolutely the best Italian restaurant in LA!
It was amazing! We'll definitely be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exceptionally good experience all around. Best food (burrata apps are amazing, orecchiete w/sausage is out of this world, all the food was terrific); service is top notch; atmosphere is warm, romantic, cozy, luxurious; prices are reasonable.
Osteria Mozza didn't live up to my expectations. The food was great but everything around it spoiled the overall experience. The service was mediocre, we spent our time trying to find our waiter and the tables are too close to each other. There are not enough wines by the glass, and the ones they have a really expensive.
We were there for a birthday which I added into my reservation notes and the hostess never gave the message to our waiter so when desert came, there was nothing special that was done. We left very disappointed. Food is one thing but the experience is everything.
We won't be going back.
Ammmmmazing food! Would definitely recommend. We went for a date night and shared all the dishes and it was a perfect way to try lots of different dishes.
Great meal. It was our son's birthday and they were very accommodating.
We had the most delicious Pasta and Mozzarella. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This was our first visit back to the restaurant since moving back to Los Angeles and food was just as good as we remembered. Everything we ordered was amazing
Great service and delicious food - as always 🙏🏻
This was our first time here. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We came a few minutes after our reservation time and seated right away. Service and attention were top class. My wife is expecting and she was recommended some mocktails that were delicious. Food was incredible. Highlight was the mozzarella with honey and walnuts. We will come back, as well as to try the other two Mozza eateries.
A wonderful restaurant. The highlight of our culinary stay in LA
It is impressive to see a restaurant with such fresh cheese selection. Starters from the Mozza bar is a must for any diners to this restaurant. Pasta dishes were tasty but a bit pricy. 8/10 would visit again to try other dishes.
It is very expensive for what they offer. Price is the only reason we wouldn't go back
I genuinely enjoyed every dish. The food was unique and delicious. The service was top-notch. I will recommend this place to my friends who appreciate fine dining and cuisine. I will definitely go back on special occasions with my husband.
Love, love this restaurant! The food was excellent as was the service. I had been wanting to go here for awhile now and it did not disappoint. Can’t wait to go back!
Best Pasta and mozzarella in town by a long shot. Relaxed atmosphere and super friendly staff
Nancy Silverton is a terrific chef and this restaurant could have had everything going for it. Unfortunately the food that we had on our visit was second rate at best. The burricotta was watery instead of creamy, and the grilled octopus was just OK. Perhaps the most disappointing part of our meal was the pasta. The tortelloni and raviolo were ordinary and the tagliatelle was ruined because the oxtail ragu was too salty. We also tried the yellowtail collar, which was decent. But the smoked black bass was a concept that did not work. The fish had plenty of smokiness, but the process robbed the fish of its richness and freshness, which was a real shame. Simply said, it is not the kind of execution that should be expected of a first rate kitchen.
The wine list is heavy with bottles that are over $100, and you have to look hard for a few that are not.The front of the house was super friendly and courteous, but the wait staff was rather indifferent. The overall experience was surprisingly unsatisfying, but it may be what one can expect from a Bastianich partnership. It is a shame.
Our waiter was never available for us. We were with a very good friend that was going through radiation for cancer and she was not drinking alcohol, as I was not because I was driving and we live on west side. The waiters were always at table next to us that was ordering a bottle of wine for each course. We asked for dessert menus, after 20 minutes of not receiving them, we asked for our check. We were there for 2 hours, only had 2 courses! Valet parking $14 for a 15 minute wait for car. I don’t understand the hype for this restaurant, NEVER going back and telling all my friends about our experience
Still one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. Even though the valet is always a mess, tables for two are too close together & the restaurant can get super loud, it doesn’t ruin much as Mozza is just so consistently great with every dish & nop notch service throughout.
Last minute dinner with the wife while in the area. Literally didn’t want to eat the next day because the pasta was so amazing! May be the best Italian in the US. Incredible
Excellent Italian meals, outstanding Italian wine list, attentive and knowledgeable service. Reservations a must.
Say yes to mozzarella bar!
Excellent all around!!
Food is extraordinary!!
I absolutely love this place. It never disappoints. The food, wine and cocktail selection, and service are so great. I flew down from the Bay Area to eat here for a birthday! Totally worth it.
Me and the Lady have been living in Los Angeles for around 4 years now (San Francisco 12 before that) and we've tried the "top" l.a. restaurants we've found online for our birthday's. almost all have that 1 dish you can say is really good and recommend. Mozza was by far the best food we've ever eaten. Hands down everything we ordered tasted complex and unique. We will be making as many excuses to eat at Osteria Mozza from here on.
Great food but a little pricey for what you get portion-wise
This was a perfect meal. Started with a cocktail at the bar- out bartender was fabulous. Warm professional and attentive. Dinner in a cozy banquet, each course was perfect. Some high points were the orrichette, tagliatelle ragu and the duck confit. Wines were delicious and a knowledgeable somm is on hand for any questions you may have. Doesn’t up sell, just wants you to enjoy your wine. Such a delicious meal
The food was outstanding and meeting Nancy was a privilege. Watch her on Chef's Table/Netflix.
The oxtail pasta was great, if not awesome. The duck confit was underwhelming, and dry. It was tender but dry. Duck is naturally very fatty and hard to screw up.
$200 for 2 small glasses of wine, appetizer, 2 pastas and a main dish, and a dessert. All of it was underwhelming.
Birthday dinner for my wife. We’ve enjoyed Mozza several times in the past but it seemed this meal they were really firing on all cylinders! Each dish a piece of perfection—fresh, never heavy, bright flavor of every description. Good service too.
Very intimate, “luxe” ambiance with excellent service. Generous portions with the prosciutto and meat board for two people. We made a meal out of just those two with one pasta main between us. Olive oil that comes with the bread is good enough to drink by the glass. Not the most creative menu but it’s stocked with the staples (no pizza though, you’ll have to go next door for that).
Our waiter was very grumpy!!
Love this place, Second time here, hasn't disappointed me yet.
I had dinner here several years ago and loved it. This time I was really disappointed. The menu was lame - nothing really special. The server was curt and seemed like she wished she were some else. And the food was just awful. My date barely ate any of her dishes. I was totally embarrassed because I had raved about my previous experience. We skipped dessert and found another restaurant nearby to get something good to eat.
I have been to Mozza many times. The food, the service and the ambience are superb. I generally forgo my reserved table if the mozzarella bar is open. It is a much more fun and lively experience. Their mozzarella is so fresh, delicate and flavorful, it is not to be missed.
